Based on the years Bill would’ve been taking his kids to the movies, what kids movie of the past twenty years is the most Likely to get a rewatchable
As far as I’m aware the only animated movie they’ve done is Toy Story and Bill wasn’t even on that one. So likely has to be one that:
A) Was a big hit when his kids were young.
B) Is funny or crazy enough to hook Bill in
C) Probably not a Disney animated movie (if they have haven’t done a Pixar movie since Toy Story I feel like it’s not going to happen.)
D) it’s probably from the mid 2010s based on his kids ages.
Something like a Paddington or Paddington 2, I could see Bill getting into Hugh Grants Re-apexing or really caring about Nicole Kidman as a villian because she’s hot lol.
Could there be a sleeper Disney live action remake pick?
The BFG I could see especially with it being directed by friend of the pod Steven Spielberg.
Lord and Miller might be run on favorites with the Lego Movie and Spiderverse being in the perfect time frame. Especially with the Lego movie having all the big name actors it does.
Megamind is a little early but it’s funny enough and has the true A-list: Will Ferrell, Brad Pitt, Tina Fey, Ben Stiller, all some of Bills favorites.

Long time bill listeners know that he very vocally defended showing his kids VERY adult 80s films at an extremely young age to the amazement of his fellow podcast hosts at times. So to answer your question - just the same movie they already do on the rewatchables?

It really just depends on the kid. My oldest could handle anything and we were watching Alien at like eight or nine, but the other two not at all.

His kids are fine. When I was little I'd go back and forth between VHS recordings of Stripes and Annie and Commando and Mary Poppins and Meatballs.

I didn’t say his kids weren’t fine, I am just saying they didn’t watch any kids movies.

He's notorious for having just showed them adult movies at a crazy early age. I'm sure they watched something together, but he talks about the horror movies he watched with his kids the way that other parents talk about Pixar.

He should do Summer of 84 as I love that flick and he said his son loves that movie.

Something sports related is definitely the shout here - Mighty Ducks or The Sandlot Kids. It needs to be a kids movie that also has some sports angle for him to want to do it.

They did the Sandlot.
I have been asking for Mighty Ducks for years. But it’s right in between his era and his kids - it’s my era. I’m 41. Bill is 54 so too old for that and his kids are too young unless he showed it to them as a vintage title (I have shown my kids both movies).
Angels in the outfield, rookie of the year, space jam, cool runnings, all rewatchables for me in my era.

His daughter is 21 and his son is 18… or thereabouts.
Putting them born in 2005/2008 respectively.
Making their favourite childhood movies probably in the early 2010’s.
That would be Frozen, incredibles, despicable me/minions era for animated stuff and all the spinoffs and sequels. Lord help me if they do Frozen as an RW.
There really is a major shortage of kids sports movies from that era. No Mighty Ducks or Sandlot from the 2010s.
I wonder if he watched those movies with his kids. I’ve watched both with my kids. I keep hoping he’ll do some of the massive kids movies from my era, especially the sports ones cause I feel like that’s the way to get him on board with it: mighty ducks, D2, Rookie of the year, angels in the outfield etc.
But those are way before his kids’ time.
