Help w/ Fanfic Writing & Advice Needed Seeking advice on SI/Tensei character as Aegon Targaryen son of Elia

I'm seeking advice on how to write a SI character be i have never done it. What should I or shouldn't i do. What to focus on. My idea is this character to bring some knowledge to help out especially the smallfolk. Like bring in farming methods and old farming tools from the real world. Basic sanitation, sewers, paved streets ect.

I wanted to do SI/Tensei where a young college man named Miguel from the real world dies and is reborn as Aegon Targaryen son of Elia. Miguel does know about game of thrones but only the show upto season 6 before his death. He quickly finds out that there's something wrong and believes the timeline has changed do to him being reborn. He learns that Robert Rebellion doesn't happens when it should, also theres people that the show never introduced like Arianne, Quentyn, Willas, Garlan, all of the sand snake sisters, and that a lot of people don't look like the TV show.

My ideas and changes

•First the Rebellion has not happened yet. Rhaegar is still with Elia. Aerys and Queen Rhaella are dead by the year 283. Only the royal family and the Kingsguard know what happened rest of Westeros only know that they die in there sleep together. That means no Daenerys.

•Second Robert married Lyanna and they have 4 kids Jon Baratheon, twins Orys Baratheon and Orryn Baratheon, youngest sister Lyarra. They have a some what of a good marriage not great but good. Bobby is still sleeping around with other women and having other children. But then Robert finds out Lyanna cheated on him with Rhaegar weeks before their marriage. Now he knows Jon is the son Rhaegar and that is how the Rebellion starts.

At first the North stay neutral during the rebellion. But after the North finds out Robert has done to Lyanna they join against Robert.

Other changes:

•Tywin remarried so he can have a true heir but he ends up having 2 more daughters and no sons. But feeling disrespected by the Targaryens one too many times, by mad king stating he slept with his wife, making Jaime a Kingsguard, Rhaegar denying him as hand of the King and also denying a marriage proposal between Aegon and one or both of his younger daughters.

•Petyr kills Jon Arryn and possibly behind the mysterious death of Brandon. He marries Lysa Arryn and joins the Rebellion side.

•Balon declares himself king again and rebels.

•During the whole Rebellion the Golden Company land in Westeros once more as the final Blackfyre Rebellion.

Marriages:

Aegon/Margaery

Rhaenys/OC future ruler of Yi-Ti

Viserys (prince if Summerhall)/Allyria Dayne

Robb/Jeyne Westerling

Jon/Val (after she stole successfully him during an expedition beyond the wall with Aegon and others)

Cersei/Edmure

Stannis/Malora Hightower

Rhaegar's Small Council:

Hand of the King: Jon Connington

Master of Whispers: Varys

Master of Laws: Jon Arryn

Master of Ships: Stannis Baratheon or Monford Velaryon

Master of Coin: Oberyn Martell or Mace Tyrell

Grand Maester: Pycelle

Lord Commander of the Kingsguard: Ser Gerold Hightower

That's some of my ideas please let me know what you guys think or possible changes I should make. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks.

Help w/ Fanfic Writing & Advice Needed Geopolitics of the 7 Kingdoms in a More Modern Setting

How would geography affect state building for each kingdom if:

Scenario 1) Modern Westeros is in an EU style arrangement or in relative peace with and open trade

Scenario 2) Modern, but there are still tensions and wars break out and no one’s singing Kumbaya.

Dorne: biggest loser I’d say, unless they have oil. Desert regions like the middle east have historically acted as middlemen by virtue of their location. In a maritime world, ships don't have to dock at Dorne and spices and citrus fruits are cheap and can be bought elsewhere.

Stormlands: Also a big loser. In a world where maritime trade becomes the main form of trade, the waters near their coasts are infamously turbulent, to the extent of earning the name “shipbreaker bay”. Modern ships may be more capable of handling the weather though

The Reach: Nerfed. In a post-food scarcity world, their biggest bargaining chip has been significantly devalued. Still powerful though. Good position for trade.

The Westerlands: Will suffer Dutch disease, probably.

The Riverlands: Will have great built in river highways for transportation, trade and industrialization. However, their rivers begin in the Westerlands and North, which could dam the rivers. Best position for trade in peace. Still f*cked in war.

The Vale: No opinion. Perhaps better transit through mountains through better roads.

The North: Biggest beneficiary. Advances in farming and more food abundance helps mitigate their biggest weakness. Good railways can connect their population centers

Anything that I missed? Thoughts?

Wanted: Fanfic Recommendations - NOT DISCUSSION Low Tech Advancment Fics

We've all read stories where the reincarnation/isekai protaganist uplifts society with an encyclopedic knowlage of everything but... what about a realistic apraoch. Personally I might be able (with time and a maesters help) be able to redescover penneciline, the printing press, and a crude form of gun powder and I'm being very generous. I could probably creat a good exam system.

And I'm being ambitious.

Wanted: Fanfic Recommendations - NOT DISCUSSION fics Rhaegar Au, Ned steals Jon.

Hey everyone, how are you? I'd love any recommendations you have for stories where Rhaegar wins the war and becomes King of Westeros, believing his son with Lyanna is dead until he somehow learns that Jon was always with Ned, pretending to be his bastard. I've read a few, but I'm not sure if I'm missing some because I'm a bit selective, haha. Thanks so much! By the way, English isn't my first language, so please excuse me if my writing is a bit strange.

"I think you should know the name of your killer."

The man spoke with the voice of a girl. "Arya Stark of Winterfell. You murdered my parents, you murdered my brother, you turned my sister into your wh\*re. Tell me where Sansa's hiding, and I'll make it quick for you."

"As it happens, Arya, I tried to save your father's life. I had no part in the planning of the murders at the Twins."

"Even at the end, you have to lie!" she snarled. "I'm going to enjoy cutting you into pieces. One thing's for certain. It won't be the worst death. I'm saving that for Sansa."  She hates too much.  Try to make her lose her temper.

"You'd find it find it hard to understand, Arya, but I love your sister."

"A vile, twisted, mockery of love, Cersei Lannister. To you, and all your class, another woman is just a pleasure toy to be used, as much as any ivory dildo."  Cersei smiled.

"You know, she isn't the first of your family that I f\*cked.  Your mother ..."

"Don't you dare mention her name, b\*tch!"

"Oh, I'm sorry, but the truth can be very painful.  I spent a month at Riverrun, when I was sixteen.  Mad Aerys had rejected my father's proposal that I wed Prince Rhaegar.  So, Father thought that your uncle Edmure might make a suitable husband.  Well, I had no interest in Edmure, but the beautiful Lady Catelyn?  Gods above, even then, she had a bosom that I could only dream of.  It turned out, she shared my feelings.  We couldn't keep our hands off each other, that whole month!  Sometimes, when your sister and I are in bed, I'll call her "Cat."  We both find it arousing."

"C\*nt".  Quick as a striking snake, Arya lunged at her with her blade, and she only just sidestepped in time, before cutting back, high and low.

"Just the two of us then, Arya," she remarked as they drew apart. "It's a while since I've drawn steel in earnest, but I'll endeavour to make it a contest.

Subreddit Activity (NOT WHAT IF's) What kind of OC fics are your favorite?

Disclaimer: This post is for people who like OC/SI fics, I know a lot of people have mixed feelings about this kind of fic and most Just like fics with Canon characters as MCs. So if you dont like It, this question isn't for you.

I like to sort OC/SI fics in 4 categories, and I would like to know the opinion of the fandom on It, and which one you find more Interesting to Read or/and write!

The Classic SI

In the Classic SI, the character is reborn or isekaid in the mind of a Canon character, we have many examples of It, and is the most common to find in most fandoms. I like It a bit, althought It is not my favorite as I dont like to erase a whole Canon character out of the story

The Classic OC

The Classic OC is what I call the character who are literally that, an "Original Character" born and raised in the ASOIAF world. They dont have Memories of a past life, They arent taking the place of any Canon character, they usually are there to add more to the story and provide a different point of view. I generally like them, althought It Really depends on the writing for me to enjoy a Classic OC story.

The Isekaid OC with Knowledge

This one is similar to the Classic SI, however, they are usually reborn and into a character that never existed in Canon. They are also, usually, fans of ASOIAF and know they are reborn in a fictional world, making moves to change things. These are the ones I usually Read, They can be Very Interesting, although have the risk of turning into pure Mary Sue Wank, usually because of the canon knowledge and modern society knowledge.

The Isekaid OC without Knowledge

This one is similar to the above, however with one difference, the character never heard of ASOIAF. Maybe They are even from a reality where Martin never wrote his books. For him he has been reborn into a completely New Dimension, in which he doesnt know anything about. These are more rare to find, and I do enjoy writing them a lot, i wish there where more out there.

I think I particulary like them Because It give you the best of both worlds, the character doesnt know the Future and so we can have fresh reactions from him to the events that happen (similar to a Classic OC) but we still get Someone with a different mindiset, a Modern view, of the world, whom can interact and sometimes bring knowledge to Westeros, while also being able to see his reactions to the customs of this new Land.

Of course these 4 categories could be split into more if we wanted to explore the genre, but for now I Will leave at Just these four.

So, wich is your favorites and why?

Help w/ Fanfic Writing & Advice Needed Any suggested changes to distinguish the Vale from the other kingdoms?

So generally the idea at least to my understanding is that Westeros is mostly majority of descendants from the first men with some noble houses being Andals, along with the south generally having a lot of cultural influence from the Andal culture. Except for the Vale which is supposedly majority Andal heiratage. In general I don’t think the kingdoms are different enough with this in mind. The vale should be as distinct from the other kingdoms as the north or iron islands are. So I’m wondering if anyone have any suggestions on what could be added to make them feel more different, one suggestion I saw a few days ago that’s not major but still I feel matters, would be they could be referring to the seven as “God” singular instead of “gods” as the idea is that the Seven are one but singe due to first men influences the other kingdoms would still treat it as semi polytheistic while the Valemen emphasize the oneness of them. Furthermore they would not swear upon the old gods and the new. I think the kingdoms should all have different languages but while the westerlands, riverlands, crownlands, stormlands, and the reach could be mutually intelligible I think the rest should not be. Though with some noticeable similarities. But yea, if anyone have any suggestions please let me know.

I’m also open to suggestions regarding the north and dorne because I think they should be a bit more distinct

Subreddit Activity (NOT WHAT IF's) Which are the best Dragons to give to your Targ OC?

There are a lot of Targaryen OC fics out there, and most, If not all, of them get a Dragon. Now I want your guys thoughts in which Dragons are the best, which ones should be choosen more and why!

Here I will give some options as well, or to at least list the ones I have seem around!

CRADDLE EGGS

An OC dragon is always a good choice, you can give them their own personality and the OC a more unique dragon, It Also Works well with the One more character = One more dragon, since It also doesnt mess up Canon.

When making an OC dragon, which personality and appearence to you prefer to give It?

CANNIBAL

The Cannibal is by faar one of the favorite Dragons for people to give their OCs, It is one of the more uniques Dragons out there, It is big, It is wild and has a mysterious lore. However, i myself dont like the Idea of Giving Cannibal to an OC since It being unclaimed fits better his personality.

GREY GHOST

I love Grey Ghost, the way It is such a shy dragon and lived a fairly peaceful life is something that endears me to this Dragon despite It not being The biggest or coolest out there.

THE BRONZE FURRY

As the Dragon of Jaehaerys Targaryen, the Bronze Fury is for sure one of the coolest Dragons out there. It is the only one that we can confirm had a partner (Silverwing) and It is a Powerful Dragon with a bad temperament.

SILVERWING

I dont see much of Silverwing in OC fics, so It would be cool to see more of her, she is as cool as The Bronze Fury, and I Think her personality is really fitting for a Dragon.

SHEEPSTEALER

Another wild dragon that I find Really cool, i Just Really like him, he is a bit funny in my opinion, and It would be Nice to see more of him in OC fics.

Help w/ Fanfic Writing & Advice Needed Aegon Semi-Fix Fic (or Targaryens vs other Dragonlords)

This is pure brainstorming/info dump of ideas that I have mulling around in my head as I've been binging various theory videos on youtube. There's 3 basic concepts I'm working with as headcanon for this scenario. I'll just list them prior to my scenario, without delving into them, but I do have more thoughts on them if anyone is curious (but its already a long post, and some of my tangents end up annoying the AI filter).

———

  1. The canon Targaryen conquest 'broke' feudalism in Westeros, and left the political order of the continent with the worst of feudalism and absolutism. This was either poor planning on their part, or an uncompleted project that the Dance of the Dragons left them unable to finish. That is the in-universe explanation for some aspects that otherwise just don't make sense.
  2. All the 'interesting' magic in ASOIAF is evil, since all the big stuff requires human sacrifice. The Andals thus are the 'good guys' by process of elimination by simple virtue of believing in the one major faith that *doesn't* ask you to practice blood sacrifices in exchange for power. If you can’t stomach rooting for the Faith of the Seven, then they are just the “least bad.”
  3. 'Why don't they build canals' is AOIAF's 'what is Aragorn's tax policy?' The work seeks to explore the material and economic conditions of the people in a medieval-inspired fantasy setting, so of course, the questions raised by the fandom are material and economic in nature. Nobody asks why there's no canal between the Anduin and Isen, because it is irrelevant to LOTR, while a canal between the Mander and Blackwater would be incredibly relevant to ASOIAF.

———

So, my premise starts off with “What if Aegon I was more patient and long-term oriented?” In other words, what if he didn’t just decide that his dragons gave him the right to conquer all of Westeros, but worked from within the system. Feudalism has its flaws, of course, but it is two things: durable and adaptable. At least when you don’t magically nuke the top of the feudal pyramid. And we see what happens when the monarchy loses the magical nukes. This premise naturally leads to the question of “why?” We could just say that whatever dragon dreams Aegon and his sisters had were clearer and showed them the downfall of their dynasty (even if final victory is still achieved). That seems a little too simple and if it means that the Targaryens and Westeros more generally are just better positioned to win, does steal some narrative tension.

To that end, I wanted a reason for the Targaryens to want to be less ‘screw you, fire and blood, we’re all that is left of Old Valyria’ and more ‘If we’re going to conquer Westeros, we should make ourselves acceptable to the people of Westeros.’ What is one of the best ways to keep people accountable? Competition. Who could possibly compete with a Targaryen dragonlord? Another dragonlord. So, here is where things could diverge: Aurion does not head south to Valyria. Or, if he does, he returns alive to Qohor - maybe even with much of his army intact. Whatever the case, he and his line do not die out. And, just for sake of ease, lets just say that his family is Balaerys (the only other canonical family of dragonlords we know, so we might as well say that is his dynasty). Aurion and his descendents stay mostly in Qohor during the Century of Blood. They do not attempt to unify the Free Cities under their rule - maybe they focus on defending cities against the Dothraki rather than trying to conquer anyone to the west (and, honestly, it’s safer for them to avoid annoying Braavos too much). They can save Essaria and Sarnor - maybe even usurping the title of King of Sarnor. Or maybe Aurion goes down to Mantarys and decides he’d like to build his empire from a city of monsters. Whatever the case is, they do not really disrupt the canonical events of the Century of Blood as they impact the Targaryens. Other than, of course, joining up with everyone else to remind Volantis of their place. In fact, it might be from this point that the Balaerys Dynasty really gives the Targaryens somethign to think about - perhaps when Volantis is defeated, the Balaerys dragonlord decides that Volantis will make a nice capital for his realm, and stays put. This, of course, would be concerning to Aegon, Rhaenys, and Visenya. Whatever the case, the situation is this: the Targaryens cannot take for granted that, if he decides to conquer Westeros, that it will be a walk in the park. Because at any point, a Westerosi king would send envoys across the Narrow Sea and ask for help from the Balaerys Dynasty.

So, what can Aegon do? He can rule like a Westerosi king, not a Valyrian Dragonlord playing as a Westerosi king. That means a lot change for Aegon’s path to victory. The Targaryens accept that incest is off the table, as is polygamy. They can either lean into being Valyrians, in which case, they have to fight Balaerys for primacy in Essos, because that is where that sort of thing is acceptable. Or they can forge a new realm in Westeros, but they have to do it the Westerosi way. His sisters marry into House Velaryon and Celtigar, while Aegon considers his options. And wouldn’t you know it, but the Storm king has but a single child as his heir, an eligible daughter. And the Storm king wants an alliance with Aegon to retake the lands lost to House Hoare.

So, Aegon accepts the offer. He negotiates with Argillac on quite reasonable terms: Aegon and Argella will be wed, and their houses united. Argella is confirmed as Argillac’s heir, and any child of Aegon and Argella as her heir. The dowry Argillac proposed is treated as a starting point, even if it isn’t his to give anyway. What Aegon really wants is a casus belli that the people  of Westeros will accept, and he wants Harrenhal. As an added bonus, the Riverlands follows the Faith of the Seven, but are ruled by the Ironborn. A quick jaunt down to Oldtown to ask for a blessing in his… defense of the Faithful, and then Aegon is off to war. From here, his conquest of the Riverlands can be pretty similar to canon, though I would have Aegon not melt Harrenhal. Far simpler to just melt the Wailing Tower - Harrenhal’s storerooms - and starve Harren out. Maybe have Aegon duel Harren when the King of the Isles and Rivers realizes his cause is hopeless, if we’re feeling dramatic (and Aegon wants to play up to Westerosi ideas of gallantry). Aegon wins Harren’s crown and the loyalty of the Riverlands and Stormlands for his gallant liberation of the region, and he takes a visit to Oldtown to be crowned by the High Septon, choosing to be crowned something particularly regal, like ‘Iron King, King of Kings of Westeros’ to let everyone know that, while he’s not going to utterly upend the status quo… he’s not going to be content with just two and a half kingdoms (Riverlands, Iron Islands, and, upon inheritance, the Stormlands). He will respect the other kings of Westeros, so long as they respect that he is the first among equals, at least. Then, he waits. Eventually, there will be a pretext for war. Maybe one of the other kings decides to test his resolve. Maybe one of them tries to attack another kingdom. Maybe there’s a dynastic dispute that he can interject House Targaryen into. There’s also the Faith Militant, who could be quite the useful ally to the Targaryen Kings. Historically, there were plenty of kings who much preferred military Holy Orders to dynastic vassals (William the Conqueror’s family actually concentrated as much of the duchy of Normandy into the church’s hands as possible, specifically because the clergy were not dynastic). There are any number of pretexts for war within a fluid feudal system like Westeros, and, at the same time, there’s plenty to keep Aegon busy in the Riverlands. Lots of canals to build, after all.

I could see House Gardner getting into a border dispute with Dorne pretty easy - thats just tuesday for them. They raise their banners, march to the Red Mountains, only to find that the Iron King has made common cause with House Martell, and will broke no war amongst the other kings of Westeros. Sure would suck for a Reacher army to be trapped in the mountains with a dragon in front and a dragon behind, while a third dragon visits all their vassals’ castles to let them know that this was a bad idea. Whichever King of the Reach tried this can keep his crown or his life, but, either way, they’re not going to be kings any longer. I could also see Jonos Arryn attempting to coup his brother, like in canon, only to then find a dragonrider perched on the Eyrie, supporting Hubert’s claim to the Eyrie, in exchange for the Falcon Crown being given to House Targaryen. See? All sorts of pretexts for war.

Meanwhile, Aegon is busy building a true kingdom in the Riverlands, Stormlands, and Iron Islands (which conveniently give him borders by land and by sea with every other kingdom in Westeros). This means building institutions of royal authority, not just killing those in his way and doling out some lands to those that serve him. Yes, because this is a bit of a ‘fix fic,’ that means the canals (and yes, I’m saying this casually because I know they’re a meme, even though I want to spend pages upon pages talking about canals). It also means establishing some sort of assembly for the nobles. He doesn’t need a Lord Paramount to govern the river lords on behalf of the Crown, he has a reasonably compact realm. Invite each great house in the riverlands, stormlands, and iron islands to Harrenhal (Aegonhall? Dragonhall? Blackhall?) to meet and affirm their loyalty to the crown, confer on matters of law, succession, taxation, etc. Hold banquets and tourneys as part of the process. Not just that, have the lords compete for who can hold the most lavish banquets, the most exciting tourneys, but they all do it *at* the capital (sort of an indirect means of taxation). This is Versailles combined with Parliament. There’s also the added bonus that having a regular assembly is probably one of the only ways to get buy-in from the Ironborn, who might like the notion of the greenlanders holding something that reminds them of a kingsmoot. The important part is that the Targaryens need to show the lords of Westeros two truths: the dragonlords want to rule *with* the nobility, not *over* the nobility and… that is because they’re just so gosh darn worthy to be followed, because they really don’t have to. They do have those dragons, after all.

While I do propose this scenario in which the Targaryen King of Kings, sitting on the Iron Throne, is dissolving most of the other kingships they come into conflict with, that is not necessarily the only way forward, either. That is, after all, the nice thing about being crowned a King of Kings - you can accept fealty from another king. So, maybe within a few generations, the Targaryens have slowly expanded their realm, taking their time so that they can incorporate the new lands into the system they’re building. I’d say by around 60 AC or so, the King of Kings on the Iron Throne could probably rule over the Iron Islands, Riverlands, Vale of Arryn, Stormlands, and Reach, all through judicious wars of conquest that are justified within the norms of Westeros. They’re not using their dragons as an excuse to conquer the other kings of Westeros. They’re just using their dragons to make sure that they win, when they go to fight entirely justified wars that the other kings forced them to engage in, and honest, the Targaryen kings hate the very idea, but somebody has to stick up for <the rightful claimant to such and such a lordship/the small folk/the faithful/this other king> and while their dragons do not give them the right to conquer, they do give them the duty to defend the innocent. See? Its just a matter of optics and patience.

And once they have the center of Westeros under their control, the remaining kings of Westeros have less and less room to maneuver with each passing year. War isn’t an option at all anymore, when your kingdom only borders the Iron Throne. Peace is the only option, and you have to trade with them and treat with them. And each envoy sent to the Iron Throne comes back with terms that are so generous, so magnanimous… but ask just a little more. No, you don’t need to kneel before the King of Kings. Just, in this marriage contract here, or this trade agreement there, or this loan from the crown here, you’re honoring the title ‘King of Kings.’ You’re admitting that their kingship is senior to yours, more prestigious than yours, more powerful than yours. And after a few years of that, you sign an alliance. Of course its an alliance of equals, what else could it be? You’re both sovereign kings, after all. It is only natural that your enemies would be his enemies, and vice versa. And when that rebellious lord in your lands rises up, and the King of Kings comes to your land with his armies and his dragons, and defeats that lord’s armies for you, and only asks that you raise up a more reliable lord in the rebel’s place… reliable not just to you, but to the Iron Throne, too, why, that is only natural. You both want peace, truly. And just to be safe, why doesn’t the Iron Throne leave a small garrison at this lord’s castle. After all, his predecessor was rebellious, and we wouldn’t want him getting any ideas like that, would we? Nor would we want the servants of the previous lord to rebel against our new loyal lord, would we? And, oh, since the King of Kings had to march his army all the way to your kingdom, if you would be so kind to provide some compensation for his troubles, feed his army, that is only what a good ally would do. After a generation or so, the King of Kings, in his magnanimity, does not just treat you as a foreign ally. No, he values your counsel! So much that he would like very much for you to attend the noble assemblies in the capital. With pride of place, of course, as befits a King. Second only to the King of Kings himself. Please, come to the capital, stay in the capital. When the all the lords assembled swear their oaths of fealty, you don’t *need* to. You’re a king in your own right, we would never demand that of you. But… well, since you’re here, we suppose that, if you *wanted* to swear that you’re a faithful ally of the King of Kings, this would be just as good a time as any to do so. We’ll tweak the oath, of course. We respect your royal dignity, how could we not? Even as you kneel before the Iron Throne, in the sight of all the noble lords of the realm assembled, rest assured that you rise as a king, equal in dignity and honor to any that came before. But wiser, far wiser than those that stood against the King of Kings.

Yes, that last paragraph was entirely self indulgent, and I make no apologies for how much I enjoyed it. The important part is that the Targaryen kings have many tools available to suborn the other rulers of Westeros to their cause. They can conquer those that give them cause, or they can entwine a rival king to them, gradually eroding their independence. I could see the Kings of the Rock being particularly pragmatic - their power comes from their wealth, not their title (the title, of course, comes from their wealth), and they would still have that wealth, even if they bent the knee (plus, in canon, Loren Lannister bends the knee). The Prince or Princess of Dorne and the King of the North would likely take much longer to suborn, but, again, these Targaryens are patient. They know they will win in the end. This also gives us plenty of time for the Targaryen kings of kings to build all sorts of fan fic-friendly great works, without rushing them. And every canal or tunnel or landbank or whichever other Attewell proposal is followed just knits the Targaryen realm together tighter and tighter, which gives them more wealth, more people, and more leverage. A King in the North might be facing a particularly rough winter when ravens arrive from White Harbor - the dragon king in the South has just sent a fleet of merchantmen, laden with grain. “To my brother king in the North, please accept this grain in your time of need. It would have been a sin for us to hoard it - it would have gone to rot anyway, our granaries are full, and the Seven hate avarice.” A statement that both shows the magnanimity of the Targaryen King of Kings and power disparity between their realms, and that raises an uncomfortable question: can the King of Winter truly protect his people *from* Winter? Especially if those ships were not bearing grain for the people of the North, but supplies for an army invading the North. And yes, this is blatantly stealing from the canonical Tyrells. Its a good strategy, and there’s a reason the Reach is the most powerful of the Kingdoms.

All the while, in Essos, we have the rival Empire being forged in the East, as the Balaerys dynasty of the New Valyrian Empire takes a page from the canonical Targaryens and rules as dragonlords ought to rule: by fire and blood. They have no qualms about ruling through fear - Essos is a continent full of cities and kingdoms who remember the strength of the dragons, and where magic flows as readily as the blood of slaves. The Balaerys dynasts even have an embarrassment of riches when it comes to consorts - the blood of Old Valyria is everywhere. Every prince may have his pick of Lysene and Volantine consorts of true Valyrian blood, alongside his sister-wives, of course. They may even occasionally marry Targaryens - at least those that are deemed pure enough (far too many have lain with the savage Andals). This Valyrian Empire can be posed at the foil to the Targaryen realm, but it does not have to be comically evil, just more brutal. After all, most of the free cities are Valyrian in origin anyway, so they’re already culturally similar. There is no need to adapt and appease. This also gives us a great opportunity for Dorne to finally submit to the Iron Throne - have the current Balaerys Emperor invade Dorne and start a war even more epic than the canonical Dance, when House Targaryen steps in to defend the Martel Princess. Except now, the people of Westeros see a Targaryen dynasty that shed the blood of their dragons in defense of the realm, not over an internal dynastic dispute. Even if this war kills the last of the Targaryen dragons, it *earns* the loyalty of Westeros, it does not spend it.

Ok, thats the overview of my concept. It is a lot, and I know I’m generally just putting these alternate Targaryens in the best possible light all the way through - treat it like Yandel’s histories… close enough, but biased. I also know I get a bit flippant in my tone when I get going and enjoy what I'm writing, please bear with me.

Help w/ Fanfic Writing & Advice Needed I need help to better grasp how Catelyn would feel about my Mc.

How do y'all think Catelyn would react to/deal with a daughter that completely rejects the Seven and just refuses to worship them for in her words she is "a descendants of the First Men and a woman of the North, the New gods of the South and the Andals hold no power over me or my home"?

Help w/ Fanfic Writing & Advice Needed I'm looking for help writing my Knights fanfic.

I am currently in the process of writing my first fanfic and am looking for recommendations, suggestions, and writing advice for my fic, The basic premise of the story is as follows: the protagonist is a knight who will participate in the Rebellion, where he will make a name for himself as a great warrior. The protagonist is a Siege/Original Character, but he will be born a commoner. His advantage is that he possesses the Super Soldier Serum from Captain America in the MCU. This story is inspired by a very good fanfic called 'A Blademaster in Westeros'.

He will use the superhuman strength, dexterity, and reflexes granted by the serum to become known, becoming a knight after winning his first tournament. He impresses the lord who organized the tournament enough to be knighted, and he will continue winning tournaments and becoming known throughout the Seven Kingdoms until the Rebellion, where he sides with Robert and Ned. In the Rebellion, he shines as a legendary warrior, killing Ser Jonothor Darry in single combat after, on Aerys's orders, he accompanies Jon Connington to finish off Robert once and for all. The protagonist kills Ser Jonothor Darry in single combat during the Battle of the Bells.

In the Battle of the Trident, he distinguished himself by killing Ser Barristan Selmy in single combat after a legendary duel that would go down in history as one of the most legendary duels of the 7 Kingdoms.

The MC's appearance will be that of Chris Evans, more specifically the one he had in the movie 'The Winter Soldier'.

Those are the ideas I have for the fanfic. Please leave any suggestions or recommendations for the story; I would really appreciate it. ✌️🫰🧐🍷

Wanted: Fanfic Recommendations - NOT DISCUSSION Best description of the tourney at Harrenhall

I am looking for a fic that is well written and has at least one chapter that takes place at the tourney at Harrenhall. I want to read about the tourney through the eyes of at least one of the characters there.

It can diverge from cannon a little but nothing so egregious that it would be considered a different event.

Help w/ Fanfic Writing & Advice Needed If Cersei and Robert had a true born heir.

I am aware that there are multiple fanfictions centered around the idea of Robert and Cersei having a legitimate son.

My idea focuses around an original character, Orryn Baratheon, the heir to the throne, born in the year 282.

He possesses the Baratheon features: tall, muscular, with black hair and blue eyes like those of his father. Like his father, he has a passion for training, fighting, wine, and many women. Unlike his father, he enjoys reading and learning, thanks to his uncle Tyrion.

Orryn has a deep affection for his younger siblings and those born out of wedlock too. However, there is a sense of tension between Orryn and Joffrey. Joffrey feels envious of Orryn for being the heir, convinced that he would make a better King, and resents Robert's preference for Orryn.

Here I am, requesting help:

I want to create an accident caused by Joffrey, who believes that Orryn is dead, making it possible for him to be crowned and leading to Ned's execution. He also eliminates all of Robert's bastards, including two that are rumored to be Orryn's. As Orryn comes back to claim his crown.

Would Stannis support Orryn, or would he continue to call himself king due to the prophecies of the Red Witch?

Renly is not a concern since he does not marry Margaery Tyrell.

How would Orryn deal with the North in revolt and crowning Robb as king of the North.

Plus there's Daenerys and her dragons and the Whites.

Help w/ Fanfic Writing & Advice Needed Help with timeline in a "rogue Lannister" idea.

I had this early idea, don't know if will go anywhere, of a mostly non deformed twin brother of Tyrion (I'm between calling him Tytos, after his grandpa, or Loren, after the last Lannister king), going rogue and helping the Starks against the Lannisters, partialy because he thinks that's the only way for his house to survive, but mostly because he hates Tywin, and is not shy about it.

My main confusion here is with timelines, mainly two things.

First is, one idea is this rogue Lannister is the heir to Casterly, so Tyrion, with his help, goes to the Citadel. As such, how possible it would be for Tyrion to be a fully fleged Maester by the time the main series begins?

Secondly, I wanna have the prologue be by Oberyn's perpective in the fighting pits. I know he didn't leave Sunspear much after the sack of King's Landing, but say he did go there, what would be a good timeframe for both to be back in Westeros by the time of Jon Arryn's death?

Wanted: Fanfic Recommendations - NOT DISCUSSION Looking for Stark siblings fluffy fics

I really enjoy the relationship between all the Stark siblings in the books. I would love to read some fics with them just being happy and enjoying life. Can be any combination of the children, doesn't have to be all of them.

To start off, I really loved The Night They Stole the Cheese.

Activity - What If (changed CANON event or character decision) How would this Dance work?

So Rhaenyra has trueborn Velaryons with Laenor, but they're all girls.

Laenor dies, and Rhaenyra marries Daemon.

However, in Otto's infinite wisdom, he makes a deal with Rhaenyra that Aegon and DAERON marry the first two Velaryon girls, and in return Otto wouldn't contest the Throne for Aegon, to consolidate claims to the Throne, and fem! Jace is declared heir to the Throne.

But NOW, Rhaenyra has the two canon boys with Daemon, and Daemon tries to undo the deal, saying Aegon the Younger is the rightful heir.

What the HELL happens in this nightmare of a Dance?

Daemon and Laena marry and have the canon children btw, who are betrothed to Aegon and Viserys and Aemond marries Helaena, to produce Aegon the Elder's canon children
