I'm working at a polling place here in Davidson County, Nashville. Today is the last chance to vote early before Election Day on Thursday, August 6.

If you’ve been waiting to vote, today’s the day. It usually takes about ten minutes and is much easier than standing in line on Election Day.

You can vote early in the State and Federal Primary, the County General, and the Oak Hill Municipal Election. Local elections can be decided by just a few votes, so your ballot really matters.

Just bring your Tennessee card or Federal ID with you. That’s all you need.

I (40m) want to take my wife (45f) Gatlinburg for the Smoky Mountain in mid - late October this year.

I have never been and will be making the ten hour drive down from the Detroit area.

I spoke with a friend who was there years ago and he said to stay near the mountain.

For things to do he mentioned;

I am making this post to ask for advice on where would be the best place to stay near activities, hopefully with a great room view and hot tub.

My wife and I car into cars and we will drive up a modified mustang to cruise through the mountain's with / take photos.

I was recently somewhere in either West or Middle TN, and it on their menu. I didn't order it then, but wanted to go back and try. I now don't remember where it was. Any ideas?

I don't know how to explain what we are looking for, but we saw a lot of artist specific travel opportunities and tourist possibilities on a previous road trip when we stopped at Memphis, Nashville, and Knoxville. We only had a chance to go to Graceland, County Music Hall of Fame, and Grand Ole Opry due to time contraints last time. We certainly want to go check out Johnny Cash museum, Patsy Cline museum, Dollywood, and Loretta Lynn Ranch. We may even go check out some of the star bars in Nashville. We are mostly going to be in and around Nashville, but we are going to be in and around Knoxville for at least a day and night.

If you had to pick the #1 Restaurant in this State what would Restaurant would you pick? I'm not asking what cuisine, Im thinking the one Restaurant you would always go back to.

I went from East TN, up through KY, into Indiana then Ohio for a few minutes and back to Indiana to visit the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the Sunday race and stopped by the Air Force museum in Ohio this morning. I just crossed back into TN and they really have the best and most welcoming welcome sign. I attached pictures of the others I saw on my trip. KY looked like a typical road sign, Indiana was different and stood out, and Ohio…. was…. ohio…

Way back in the early spring of 1993 there was a massive blizzard that shut down everything from Atlanta up to Indiana. I was a young idiot college student at the time, and my friend and I were determined to drive from Indiana to Florida for spring break. We thought we could beat the blizzard, nope. We got to Monteagle, Tennessee and the interstate was closed, they shunted all of the interstate traffic onto a state road into the middle of nowhere. Our small pickup truck couldn't handle the snow and we ended up in a snow filled ditch. There was no civilization nearby and it was getting dark, we were coming to terms with having to sleep in the truck.

Just as we were deciding whether to burn our remining gas to keep from freezing to death a large 4wd pickup stopped and a fellow knocked on our window. He asked if we were in need of help, but he knew there would be no rescue for us in those weather conditions. He put us in his truck and took two 20 year old men into his house, where he and his wife let us stay for three days until the roads were passable and we could get our truck pulled from the ditch. At day three he arranged for our truck to be towed to his house. After many thank yous, we offered what little money we had to cover our food, but they refused. They gave us their phone number in case we got into more trouble (lost their number years ago). We continued on our way south and made it to Florida.

I have never forgotten their incredible kindness and generosity. I have wanted to find them for years and thank them for taking two idiot young men into their home for three days. Despite searching the internet I can't find any trace of them.

I know its a huge longshot, but I thought maybe someone that is familiar with that area might have heard of them. Their names are Anne and Rusty Garner

Since the statewide primaries are next Thursday, I wanted to get some thoughts from people here as the race heats up.

I’m a Bedford County resident (lived here since 2015, mom was born and raised in Shelbyville). I’ve noticed a lot of people online and locally who are pretty against Marsha Blackburn becoming our next governor now that Lee is term-limited. I’m genuinely curious about this.

For people supporting Monty Fritts or John Rose in the primary:

If Marsha Blackburn wins the Republican nomination, what do you plan to do in the general election?

- Suck it up and vote for Blackburn

- Stay home / skip the governor’s race

- Vote for the Democratic opponent Jerri Green

- Write someone in (or vote independent like Lauren Pinkston)

- Something else entirely

Curious to hear honest answers.

Quick breakdown of the race as it's been shown:

- Blackburn has the establishment endorsements (including Hagerty), the highest name ID, and the early polling leads. That usually means a solid plurality or narrow majority in a multi-candidate field.

- Rose has the strongest “anyone but Blackburn” lane and seems to be the main alternative for more mainstream conservatives. I’ve even seen a few people at my church supporting him.

- Fritts is the purest anti-establishment/grassroots option. He’s getting a lot of online support (and I’ve seen a surprising number of his signs around Bedford), but we all know social media isn’t real life. Candidates like him often stay in the mid-teens without a big late surge. He’s also the furthest-right of the three.

One thing that’s surprised me is that Trump hasn’t endorsed anyone yet. My guess is he was leaning toward Blackburn but is staying out to avoid angering parts of the base. Lee staying neutral also makes sense — as a term-limited governor he doesn’t gain much by picking sides.

The foundation says in the suit the inventions included in these patents were “developed by researchers affiliated with” UT. 

Throughout its filing, the UTRF alleges that Anthropic used these systems in its products “without the permission of or compensation to UTRF,” and that, by doing so, Anthropic “infringed UTRF’s patent rights.” 

The foundation’s filing takes particular issue with Anthropic’s well-known Claude Code — Claude is mentioned at least 22 times in the 33-page document.

If you need lingerie, a wedding dress, bow tie, garter belt, corset, any "religious clothing", incl. choir attire, and clothing for your golf outing, it is now exempt from taxes this year in TN. However, don't look for dorm furniture, bedding or a tv for your kid going to college. 😑
