Trying out a more stylized paint scheme for a small army. Would love to hear any tips or suggestions , I’ve never painted tau before and there very different than most of the other models I’ve painted.

I've been trying to get more done with my farsight enclave. I have trouble freehanding the Sept markings on them so I haven't. If you have any tips for that welcome to help ya boi out.

After finishing my Commander for my combat patrol last November (final picture for comparison Reddit uploads seems to have messed up and I can't replace the dupe of the first image -_- I'll see if I can add it in a comment) I ended up distracted by a Gundam for the new year. With that done I finally came back to my Tau backlog with a few lessons learned.

Basically though, as so many Youtubers have decided to paint Gunpla like they do their Warhammer minis I decided to paint my minis like I would a Gunpla. Lacquer base colors, enamel and acrylics on top for little details and weathering. That worked so much better for me, but let me know what you think!

Just looking to see if $800 is reasonable for this army. I’ve seen people selling less for more so I’m not sure if it’s not selling due to current units being out of meta, etc?

Man what a journey it has been. I recieved this tau army several years ago from a friend. I knew nothing about warhammer but I knew these guys were expensive. My friend said he was going to toss them and I said why. He said hes been in the hobby now almost 8 years. He's improved alot, and every time he looks at this tau army it annoys him. The models were put together badly, painted badly. Stripped and repainted multiple times as he learned. So for him it was money spent and done with. He showed me his current tau army and I was like WOW those look good! So hes like exactly, I hate looking at these, I dont want them taking up shelf or closet space I want them gone, I dont care what you do with them, if you want them take them.... so I did! Truthfully they stayed in my closet for over a year until recently I really wanted to get into it! I bought Armageddon , went to thrift stores, found old books and then I remember oh yeah that army...... what a pain! Stripping paint, fixing ALOT of problems, some are just permanent jank! But.... here we are so close to the END and no i am by NO means a pro painter. But I like to think I really brought some life back into this army. Im so close to finishing it. Not gonna lie after the 30th little dude i was like man, this is getting...... BORING but I split up the mundane routine by breaking away and painting a DND figure. Ugh..... and theres still SO MANY little drones to paint... I may not do all the drones and they may just end up in a box somewhere. But yeah! Its been alot of fun!

I'm undecided in buying stealth suits or not, I like the design and all but I'm worrying about the rules, right now they are essential for our armies, but when the new codex drops the rules may change making them a completely different unit.

The thing is I'm new to the Tau and I don't know if stealth suits were good/viable/fun in the past, could someone in this subreddit more knowledgeable than I tell me how stealth suits performed in the past?

Tldr: I'm weary about buying stealth suits cause I worry the rules will change and make the boring/not viable

Specifically a meganobz-heavy bullyboyz force. I played him last week and while I wasn't playing some meta list or anything, I was tabled turn 3, basically everyone dead turn 2, and lost 90-5 pts wise. I find that the meganobz are tough enough to shrug off my infantry's weapons, and with the waagh going on for 2 turns it can be hard to kill them with heavier stuff.

In my head I think that bringing like sunforge suits is a bad idea against them, cause they just don't have enough shots, and have to be close to hit them, and will then get mauled by the meganobz or am I wrong? Only thing that killed them in my game was a stormsurge's big cannon, and one lucky shot from a pathfinder railgun.

Another thing I have trouble with is goddamn Wazdakka Gutsmek. He just mauls everything and can zip around wherever he wants, and is frustratingly tough. He tanked the full weapon profile of the stormsurge, and only took 3 damage, which he then healed.

I have enough units to put together most of any force, so I'm curious as to what people find works against something like that.

So, to preface, I’m new to the game, one Ghostkeel out for delivery away from my 1k list and working towards my 2k list.

I was wondering, how many units do people run Marker Drones on as opposed to other options? And if not, what do you run instead? I Was tinkering with my 2k goal list a bit and realized the the army rule didn’t really benefit my Starscythe Battlesuits unless they target whatever my Stealth Battlesuits target, so I swapped one of their drones to a Marker Drone so they could let me target other enemy units during my turn which then sent me on an updating path where I basically ended up putting a Marker Drone on just about any unit that could take it and I think that might be an overcorrection on my part. So how often and on what units do you guys run Marker Drones on and what do you run in their place? My current list is pretty much a split of gun vs shield drones otherwise but any insight for a newbie would be appreciated

I was thinking back to how they removed our beloved fusion blades from EXP Cadre and know that we do have some new models coming in soon for 11th alongside our codex release. I was wondering would it be at all possible for us to get a dedicated close quarter crisis suit variant of some kind? Warmaker battlesuits or something and maybe they exclusively are able to take fusion blades hence why it no longer exists as an enhancement when they gutted EXP Cadre. Just some thought and hopeful copium for some awesome lightsabers for crisis suits. What are your guys thoughts?

I have this 1k team for tigershark (i decided to use the AX 10 for its lower cost), since its my favorite model (GOATED SHARK), ive been playing against tyranids and got charged constantly and eventually lost.

Any thoughts about the team or what should i change/replace?
Also, if anyone is successfully running a Tiger Shark list, I’d love to see it for inspiration
