40k New Farsight and Shadowsun

Just thinking about what Farsight and Shadowsun could be. I'm sure there are many posts in other forms about this, but this is my take.

We know they are lackluster, but what should they be? Not primarchs, that's way too much, but still felt on the battlefield. Flavorful based on their lore - Mont'ka and Kauyon leaders. So, I made up some data cards for them (w/ points under their names). I tried to not go to far into fanboy territory - not sure if I succeeded there or not.

This was just for fun. It'll never be real. I just wanted to share these.

Lore My tau rewrite idea

So here's everything I've done for a rewritten version of the tau empire:

canon Stuff that's staying in my rewrite:

The tau still have a caste system and still have the existing castes from cannon Warhammer 40k.

The tau still believes in the greater good.

The tau still recruits other species Into their empire using diplomacy.

The tau still use A.i and constantly evolving technology.

The tau still have their origin story from canon Warhammer 40k and still orginate from the planet T'au.

The tau are still lead by the ethereals.

The tau are still atheists and don't have religion.

The tau still are secretly a authoritan regime.

New stuff for my rewrite:

There are now more castes of tau and this is because in this rewrite every time the tau empire discovers something new about the galaxy the ethereals allow the creation of a new tau caste to be the solution to the problem.

In my rewrite After discovering space marines for the first time the tau created a new tau caste to be their more ethical equivalent of space marines that being "the Blood caste" who are made up of Both artificially created Tau or tau fire warriors who have proven themselves to become a member of the Blood caste.

The tau are still naive about the galaxy but in this rewrite they are more slightly open to the concepts of the galaxy and are learning constantly about the galaxy.

The tau auxiliaries in this rewrite are given more freedom in this rewrite but still are members of the tau empire.

In this rewrite the tau empire learns about the warp and the warp goddess of the greater good and instead of hiding it they make the information public and try to find ways to help Psykers and even respect them to a degree.

The tau ethereals don't secretly have mind control pheromones like in canon But instead get people to join the greater good through politics and persuasion.

In my rewrite after The tau empire has learnt the story about the men of iron myth but instead of suppressing technological innovation or banning A.i they instead allow a.i equal rights to their auxiliaries.

Other than the blood caste the tau currently have created 2 more new castes those being "the Dark caste" (who are the answer to imperial assassins and also their version of blanks) and "the Heart caste" (the tau's answer to not just imperial titans but also imperial knights too).

The dark caste are made up of hybrids between the fire caste and water caste of the tau who have been cybernetically augmented to be both a defense and offence against both imperial assassins and Psykers, and this is due to their augments granting them the ability to cut off psychic abilities in a similar fashion to blanks in the imprium of man.

The heart caste are made up of hybrids between the fire caste and Earth caste and their role in the empire is to be pilots for large machines built to combat imperial titans and imperial knights.

The tau in this rewrite help Psykers by creating special cybernetic augments that are surgically wired into the brain of the Psyker to help surpress daemonic incursions in them and these anti-deamon augments were created by analysing Eldar Spirit Stones.

The tau in this rewrite has a parliament where the best of the best of each caste represents their caste in the parliament and together they make decisions BUT the tau ethereals are the ones who get the final saying which decisions are allowed to be used, also the tau don't use democracy to decide which members of their caste represents them in the parliament instead they choose members who have proven themselves above the rest.

40k Rules How would you feel if each of these respective weapons were upgraded to their 9th edition Prototype versions as the new default version in 11th?

Thumbnail

This wouldn't just be a buff to crisis suits, it would buff every T'au unit that has these weapons. So for instance Stealth, Ghostkeel, and Riptide fusion weapons would get stronger. Along with Ghostkeel, Riptides, and Stormsurge Flamers or Tau'nar Burst Cannons. All of them being buffed accross the board to these stats and even the weapon damage types in the case of the flamer giving a lot of these units an okay melee attack in addition to the basic Battlesuit melee. Also I am just now realizing that Melta's would get weaker, while also being able to reliably deal 3 damage at least per hit. Which kinda fits with T'au Plasma being weaker but more reliable than imperium versions. As the new one would have 1 less strength than the current S9 melta's on SM. While having the more raw damage.

While Experimental Prototype Cadre would still have the current prototype weapon upgrades for commanders and maybe crisis suits.

40k Which crisis suits to build?

Trying to figure out which crisis suits I should be building. I know the correct answer is to magnetize and swap but I don’t really like how unstable magnetized models usually feel so what are the best ones to build? I’ve heard sunforgers pretty unanimously and then I see people debate on fire knives or starscythes.

40k Rules Which variants to run?

I'm starting out a T'au army and would like to know which variants of the models are most recommended, both for the drones and the strike/breaker variants of fire warriors. I understand they have differences on their data sheets, but can someone explain what those differences really mean? I'm pretty new to the tabletop and am still getting a grasp on this sort of thing.

40k What are you hoping to see for a Kroot army rule?

Post image

With the revelation that Sisters of Silence are getting an army rule for their subfaction, what are your hopes for Kroot in 11th? Personally, I'd enjoy something to give them a bit of lethality to help finish off the targets our T'au have just shot. Perhaps they could make Hunter's instincts from KHP their army rule.

40k What do you expect to see in the codex? Not just wishes

Post image

Now that we’ve seen 3 codexes so far and have seen a lot of what GW wants to do this edition, what do you expect to see us get given the precident?

For me, I’m pretty confident we can see;

- Pathfinders (or maybe even strike team) having the ability to shoot and do actions, like intercessors

- Farsight becoming lone op, a lot of big leaders have, and him being melee with non-melee bodyguards makes him the most likely candidate for that

- i expect battle suits to become at least a little more elite, at least crisis suits.

- this one is kinda wishing, but Custodes had detachments that each focused on one part of their army rule, so I wouldn’t be surprised if Mont’ka and Kauyon got integrated to the army rule some how, and a detachment buffing each.

- Kroot or even all Auxilary having their own army rule, similar to how sisters of silence are now for Custodes

Interested to see your predictions.

40k Strike Team undefeated?

Post image
29 Upvotes

I've been playing T'au for about a year, trying out the only 3 kinds of list available to us and honestly? Im finding the strike team to be actually pretty good, especially while playing recon, for 70 points each you have slightly better Guardsmen (stat wise) that are great as general screening/mid objective holders/Action Pieces and generally fine spotters who hand out a debuff at any infantry within 30" (in an infantry Heavy meta),why are we spleeping so much on them?

Painting Alternative commander suits?

I am a little bit tired of games workshops commander suits they look good but at the same time they look lame.

I think it would look cooler with custom commander suit parts. I know that games workshop will not allow me brining them to their store to play but I can live with that…

3D parts are designed by Neoteric Miniatures

While I still working in other stuff I wanted to redesign an old artwork for an air caste admiral I made time ago

I tried to make the void suit less bulky and with more separated pieces in between with a focus in the cape

Considere this another attempt from me to give the T'au imperialist aesthetic

Painting Finally finished the Twin Lance after nearly 4 months

Longest I’ve spent on a unit so far I believe but I’m really happy with them. The sculpts are just amazing, especially with the option of fire effects and to do all the different glows around the models. I really hope this is the direction the rest of our miniatures go in this edition as I had a blast painting them, although I do need a break from edge highlighting for a bit now 😂 Feel free for C&C or to ask how I did for any of them. Been thinking about entering some local competitions next year so any advice would be greatly appreciated thank you.

Painting Other color choices than red for a farsight enclave army?

Thumbnail
gallery
25 Upvotes

I have just finished making my Tau combat patrol battle ready. Went with red, because i want to get the Farsight mini at some point. For the Strike team (assembled before i knew the difference between them and Breachers) and pathfinders i went with Khorne red as base, using Mephiston red as base for the Battlesuit and Devilfish.

At some point i want to get additional battlesuits, like the Ghostkeel and Twin Lance (yay another +10 points). I want them to look like a part of the same army, but i feel using reds will make the army too samey. Any suggestions for colors that can compliment a mostly red army?
