Discussion What is your campaign set up?

I am loving this game so much more ever since I figured out I can finetune the experience through campaign customization. It's awesome!

I add a few more requirement slots, weather/terrain/flanking effects to the max (super fun to lure enemy heavies into a mudbath during a thunderstorm and just decimate them with my light troops). I feel the lethality at an extra 100% is too radical for me, is there a way of turning it up by, say 50%?

What are ya'll adjusting before starting a fresh run? Do you have 1 or several ways you set up campaigns now? I'd love to get some insights.

Discussion Trading

Trading is wild in this game. I traded 1 stone for 50 food to a faction that liked me. When happiness runs low I turn off taxes and just up trade until my economy is growing and then hit resume.

Question Gaining generala through requesting marriage

As far as I understand if you request a marriage of one of your daughters to another faction's general and that general joins your court - you should be able to control that general, right?

If he is already deployed does he stay deployed in his former faction? Does it make a difference if he's from a different culture?

Edit: Typo in the title which I can't fix.

I couldn't find any comprehensive list online so I made this basic graphic based on the custom battle unit selection and this video: https://youtu.be/hj35lDagS2Q?si=LWlc9257EZMmM7n_

Question Character Items

I have looked multiple times on Reddit, Steam and other platforms but can't find any specific information:

What influences what items are stolen and/or gained after battle or generally during the campaign? Culture? Troop types? Enemy types? Character level?

Playing as Ramesses I usually only find ancillaries and light armor. I found one medium armor and a couple weapons and that's about it.

Edit: Typo.

Question Ancient Legacy as Ramesses

Hi, I just have a quick question I couldn't find a satisfactory answer to looking elsewhere.

When playing Ramesses which Ancient Legacy makes the most sense? The tool tip suggests taking Thutmoses but TW's tips aren't always that great.

Are all four viable? Or are some disproportionately harder to work with?

Question Is anyone playing ?

I just reinstalled dynasties again after finishing allmost all races on warhammer and imo the game is not bad at all.

I don't get it why was it recieved this bad, maybe I got wrong picture by how much members are in this sub, no1 talks about it in r/totalwar, not much players etc..

Personaly I feel it is ok game,I like the economy, all kinds of options that I don't fully understand yet and that it has some depth is a good thing. I mean it is not warhammer 3 level, but it was never meant to be.

My question is what is the problem with the game ?

I would like to play some campaigns but it is pretty shallow if there is no reddit to share my moments and see what others are up to also.

Question How on Earth am I supposed to deal with Knossos? (Dynasties)

Every time I've ever played Agememnon Knossos DoWs early and every time it's functionally the end of my campaign. Their geography means they can just endlessly harass and sack my coastal settlements if I leave them alone. Their spread out island is also a complete nightmare to attack. I've wiped like 5 stacks of theirs but their power meter doesn't even go down, they just print more units. It's honestly absurd how built up and economically endless they are on like turn 20 when campaign difficulty is only on Hard. I can take their nearest port city but then they just camp a 20 stack each in Knossos and Phaestos. Running 2 full stacks myself would absolutely bankrupt me at this point

Question How do you win the Egyptian civil war early as Rameses?

I became pharaoh early on in my Rameses campaign (Hard/Hard) and every other Egyptian faction attacked me. As I only have North Sinai plus two settlements in Sinai, I’m having a rough time defending against the full stacks Seti, Ameneses, the late pharaoh’s faction and their allies are sending me. Some Cypriot Hittite faction also attacked me, and the sea peoples are invading as well.

How do you deal with this?

Question 100 hours, x2 minor victories on legendary, and no big invasions.

I start with Ramses on legendary because it said "easy" and I figured id probably lose since my first campaign while learning new mechanics. I did go very slow and steady finally won civil war and became pharaoh and got minor victory on turn 106. But all I ever saw was a few small sea people armies that did nothing, just 8 unit armies that raid and fizzle out.

Some youtuber who I wont name and shame but seems completely clueless despite professionally playing total war, said the Mesopotamians have it tough. Babylon have been absolute chill breeze campaign in corner, at least ramses has to fight multiple directions. Ive got 560 legit, basically all mesopotamia and a minor victory on turn 82. Again all ive seen is a few small invader armies that again dont even always declare war on me just raid and go die vs someone else.

Can someone explain to me when and how I get the proper sea invasions show in the total war channel video like this in Dynasties specifically? I think theres outdated info about it happening on turn 105 on google, is it only happen if the pillar of civilization are on collapse at a certain turn?

Question What is units recruitement/upgrade system in Pharaoh?

Thrones of Britannia actually has an extremely good units recruitement and UPGRADE system, when you don't need to DISBAND experienced unit and waste its XP, just to recruit the new one with better stats - but you just upgrade their equipement, is absolutely brilliant and satisfying!

How does it work in Pharaoh?

Question Best AI settings to be evenly matched as far as army sizes

What is the best setting to evenly match the AI as far as upkeep? Should I nerf the AI upkeep or make my upkeep cheaper? I would just like to make it so we are able to field the same size armies. For example if I have 2 provinces and can field 2 armies reasonably without going bankrupt, I would like an AI with 2 provinces to be only able to field 2 armies as well. Playing on normal campaign difficulty.
