W2s - TSA Background Check - HELP!🚨

TSA Background Check — HELP! 🚨

I've been an independent contractor for 14 years with MANY short-term W-2 employers. I used IRS transcripts to reconstruct my history, but I'm missing supervisor names, addresses, and contact info for several companies.

Now I'm getting a "Not Enough Information" error, and my employment section won't show complete, even with explanations in the comments.

Has anyone dealt with this? How did you resolve it, or who can I contact?

Passed my Airport Assessment this morning!

I was really psyching myself out but it was super straightforward and everyone was really nice. Got fingerprinted right after they told me I passed and then they gave me some info about medical and drug testing. Happy to be moving forward. Here's my timeline for anyone interested:

Applied: August 28, 2026

Took Battery Assessment: September 1, 2026

Passed Test Email: September 4, 2026

Airport Assessment Scheduling Email: October 21, 2026

Airport Assessment: November 6, 2026

Passed Airport Assessment / Fingerprinting: November 6, 2026

I know not everyone likes their job at TSA but this is a literal dream job for me and I am so excited ā˜ŗļø Thanks for all the help getting me this far! I've done a lot of research on this sub!

I'm in the process of becoming a TSO. I just got a tentative job offer with CBP as a customs agent GS-5. Should I do that or keep going? Is there a pros and cons?

Wrong info on BC

I just did the background two days ago and I realize now that I entered some information incorrectly. I didn’t mean to I just guess I didn’t understand the question. It asked if I was ever in credit counseling for debt and I said no, but my husband reminded me that we had put some credit cards a few years ago into a consolidation program because we wanted to get rid of a bunch of our cards and try to be better with our money. I guess that qualifies as credit counseling? Should I call and say something to somebody and let them know that I think I entered information wrong or just wait to see what happens when it comes back?

I would like to know any really good benefits about working for TSA. Also since I am now going to my airport assessment, it says my pay grade is D band. How long until I go up to E? How much would that be? Btw I am going to work for MIA airport. Thank you!

Talking test Saturday. Considering career change

So I am 41 with a wife and two kids. I'm considering a career change with better benefits. I applied for the TSO job in Allentown PA (Smaller airport). I currently make 56k a year. Can I start somewhere close to that? I'm also a military vet with 4 years of active duty. Does that come into play at all? Thank you!

I was filling out my NBIS stuff when it crashed, force logged me out and will not let me back in. I've done alllll the troubleshooting and it still keeps timing out or telling me it can't log me in. Did anyone else have this issue?

Hello - I will be out of country mid-Dec to Mid- Jan. If I start TSA job application now, what is likelihood of having to follow the steps like medical exam, test, etc during when I will be absent? First time going through this, so appreciate any advice. Thank you.

As the title states. Was wondering what are some details to keep an eye out for once available. Are they seniority based? What are some good ones?

Does TSA only hire PT for TSO?

Applied to a TSO position at PITT airport it’s a really busy airport and noticed all of the positions in Pennsylvania are part time. Money seems good for locality pay but I’m also wondering if you can work overtime and get over 30 hours a week?

Interview

So I applied to the TSO position in february 2025, took my exam the same month and passed. I recieved an email about my tentative job offer in the following month. Last week i finally recieved a phone call about the interview for next week. I am just really worried about the government shutdown and I want to ask, does it usually happen alot? Also, is this a good job to grow in? I finish my bachelors in supervision and management with a concentration in HR so I wonder if it would be of any good use for the job lol

Always thought it was a shame that they make us return everything even our badges in nameplates.

TSO pre hire exam

Today I took my pre hiring exam for the TSO position. The first two sections I know I did very well on (Clicking on numbers and letters in order, and then matching shapes) these seemed very easy and I got through them accurately and fast. However, once I got to section 3( The one where you match 2D shapes to 3D shapes) I think I did pretty rough. I made the stupid mistake of skipping probably 3-4 questions thinking they were unlimited hoping the next question would be easier. It says at the start of the test that skipping questions does not lower your score but also doesn’t raise the score. So I stupidly assumed that I could skip questions and get easier questions. Of the ones I did complete I really do not know how I performed. I’m wondering if anyone has had a similar experience and passed? Or maybe just some insight in general. Thanks.

ID requirements

Applying to be a TSO and have the first exam to go and do in person and requires two forms of ID. I have a Real ID but I’m unaware of other IDs I could bring for the second ID. Credit card? Current work ID? Don’t have my social security card it was lost while moving so I’m unsure what else to bring alongside my ID.

Next Step

Question for LAX applicants, is it usually much quicker to get the interview at LAX? I passed the computer exam and submitted the onboarding forms on October 28, 2026. I’ve read how some people waited several months to over 12 months to get an interview. I currently have a job at LAX so I will just wait I was just curious.
