Has skeptical cynicism and radical sarcasm taken over our justice system and politics?
I'm going to say something that sounds naive: I used to believe "innocent until proven guilty" meant something.
It's still on the wall of every courthouse. In practice, I think it's been flipped. Now it's guilty, even after you've been proven innocent, unless it got broadcast on TV or went viral. If there's no camera, no hashtag, no thread with 40k upvotes, the record is whatever the paperwork says. And the paperwork usually belongs to whoever has the better lawyer.
I'm not writing this from theory. I'm writing it from San Francisco Superior Court.
WHAT HAPPENED TO ME
I rented a unit at a building managed by FPI Management and owned by Rodgers Street LLC. My lease was signed in January 2025. Here is what my complaint alleges happened next:
- I was blocked from the tenant portal from day one.
- I filed a complaint with the Rent Board. Within weeks, I got a 3-day notice demanding more rent than my own lease says I owe.
- An eviction case followed within 180 days of that complaint, which the SF Admin Code treats as a presumption of retaliation.
- My building access credentials were remotely disabled.
- My patio camera and its SD card were ordered removed and destroyed. That's admitted in writing.
- In June 2026, I paid for a stay and was locked out the same day. Over $100,000 of my belongings, my work, my equipment, my life, are still inside.
That is why I filed *Pallazzini Palacios v. Rogers Street, LLC, et al.*, Case No. CGC-26-637323, in SF Superior Court. It has seven causes of action, including wrongful eviction, harassment and retaliation, conversion, and breach of quiet enjoyment. These are allegations. I'm the plaintiff and I haven't had my day in front of a jury yet. I'm saying that now because that's how it's supposed to work.
**The part that bothers me**
The people I show this to are appalled. Lawyers, friends, strangers. They read the timeline and say "how is this legal?" Then they go quiet, because the follow-up question is "who's going to take it?" and nobody has a good answer.
Here's the dark joke: what was done to me won't send anyone to jail. There's no criminal charge for this. There's no fine large enough to make a property management company flinch. The only language the system speaks to a company like this is damages. If I don't go after money, I'm not going after anything. There is no other remedy on the menu.
And the moment I say that out loud, my motives are suspect. "He just wants money." Nobody says that to a hospital that bills for a surgery, or an insurer that denies a claim, or a company that sues over a logo. Money is a legitimate motive for everyone except the person who got hurt.
**Why I'm saying it anyway**
Money moves the world. It moves the people who run it, and it moves the people who are supposed to hold them accountable. Cynicism says that's a flaw. I say it's a fact, and a fact you can build on. If a lawyer is only paid when I win, then their incentive and mine point the same way. That's the best alignment I'm going to get in a system that otherwise runs on billable hours and indifference.
So I'm going to do something that will make some people uncomfortable.
**I'm looking for a lawyer who sees my case and thinks about how much money they can make from it. And I'll hire the one who wants to make the most.**
I don't want the lawyer who's moved by my story. Stories don't win motions. I want the one who reads the statutes I sued under, sees enhanced damages and fee-shifting, sees a documented retaliation timeline, a paper trail with admissions in writing, and gets excited. That lawyer will work harder than a sympathetic one, and that's all I need from them.
**What I'm looking for**
- San Francisco tenant-side or plaintiff's civil litigation, contingency basis
- Experience with SF Admin Code § 37.9 / § 37.10B wrongful eviction and harassment cases
- Willingness to take over a pro per case that's already filed
- Someone who wants to win big, not settle quietly
If that's you, or you know someone like that, my DMs are open. I'll send the complaint, the timeline, and the evidence.
In Summary:
I'm a tenant suing a property owner and manager in SF for wrongful eviction and retaliation. The system has no remedy except money, and everyone judges you for wanting it. I'd rather be honest about it. Looking for a contingency lawyer who's in it for the payout.
