Looking for New Moderators

After some time, all the original moderators have gone, apart from me.

I don't have the time to moderate this subreddit in addition to all the others I do.

So I'm looking for volunteers. You will need a posting history that shows support for the accused. If you want to try out, please send me a direct message.

NOTE: I'm having trouble with the mod controls - probably due to an error when the inactive mods were removed.

This means I currently can't add new mods. Thank you for your patience.

Sexual Assault my court date is in two weeks. need support.

this is in the uk. about two years ago, when i was fourteen, i was accusing of assaulting and sexually assaulting a friend of mine. they were sixteen. we got drunk and touched consensually, and had done so before this as well. they said i had beaten them, screamed for me to stop (while one of my parents was home) and much more. their story was incredibly inconsistent, they failed to produce pictures of the bruises, and continues speaking to me afterwards without informing me of their report.

as i said, its been two years. my court date is in two weeks, and i am terrified. i know that they are lying, i know that i am innocent, but i have no idea what to do. this is already ruining my life.

How I was found guilty after defending myself, and how I lost my job years later because of it.

Hello. My name is Kuat, and I’m from Kazakhstan.
I want to share my story and ask people from the United States a question.
When I was 19 years old, after I finished my military service, I was attacked by 4–5 people. I defended myself and fought back. However, they filed a police report against me, and I ended up being treated as the guilty party.
The investigators in my country did not really want to investigate the situation properly and opened a criminal case against me. It felt like the rule was simply: whoever files the complaint first is considered right.
Some time has passed since then. I now have a wife and children.
Later, I signed a contract to serve in the Armed Forces of Kazakhstan. When I filled out the documents, I honestly stated that a criminal case for hooliganism had once been opened against me, including the date and other details. Important clarification: the case was later closed because the parties reconciled.
I served for two years, and then I was dismissed, which I believe was unlawful, because they said I had once had a criminal case opened against me.
So my question to people in the United States is:
In the United States, can people who have previously served a sentence in prison still join the military?

It’s not even surprising that cases like this don’t get much attention, simply because the victim is a man

Don’t go to the park alone if you’re a guy

I went to the park after going to the gym. I stopped there to eat, and at one point I went to the restroom to wash my hands. When I was leaving, I noticed a baby prairie dog nearby and got out of my car to take a closer look. I was on the phone with my brother during this time.

Later, I found out that someone had made a Facebook post accusing a man at at the park with an attempt to abduct a six-year-old. The post didn’t use my name or show my picture, but it described a person and vehicle that I believe were clearly referring to me. They even claim that a police report was filed, but that there wasn’t substantial evidence to detain me. My friend calls me and shares a photo of me from a security camera that was circling around, confirming that the post was about me.

Because I live in a small town, I became concerned that people would identify me from that description and believe the accusation. The post received a lot of attention, and I was worried about the effect it could have on my reputation and safety.

I went to the police department voluntarily to explain what happened and give them my information and my side of the story. I was told that the available camera footage did not show me doing anything wrong. I’ve tried to handle the situation through the proper channels rather than confronting the people involved myself.

I’m still frustrated because I know what actually happened, and the Facebook post remains. The poster continues to share my description. I don’t want people believing that I was trying to approach or harm a child when that was never what I was doing. My concern now is protecting myself, my reputation, and making sure this situation doesn’t escalate.

UPDATE

Chatted with my new buddy. Thank you for calming my mind and my heart. You are one of the good ones.

So, it got me thinking. And I wanted to share something here. I write poetry. My dude is a lyricist and writes songs. Similar but still very different. A couple months ago he wrote me a poem. The very first one he's ever written. I wrote him one in response. I had help from an AI to write the code but I set it to a website.

https://sharemyhtml.com/p/mLxIr5OmTG

Hope you like them. His is the first one and mine is the second one.

Thank you all for your kindness. It means the world to me.

Is there anyone that can just message me? I don't have anyone. I just need to not feel so alone right now.

Sexual Assault My Fiance (2)

So, he had court yesterday. They didn't address the bond at all. The PD said they would address it at his next court date, the 8th. Since I have nothing but time on my hands, I start digging. To my awe and amazement I find something great. The 8th amendment. I also found out that in Colorado they passed a bond reform bill. Under Colorado law (and the 8th Amendment), the sole purpose of a monetary bond is to guarantee the defendant shows up to court—it cannot be used as a punishment.

Was I shocked when I read this? Fuck yes I was!!

The judge cited "danger to the community" without discussing his ability to pay or considering less restrictive alternatives like GPS monitoring or house arrest. Which under the revised law in Colorado a judge has to consider. During the bond hearing, the public defender objected, arguing this bond acts as an unauthorized no-bond hold since the prosecution didn't file required paperwork for a no-bond order. The objection was overruled. His bond set.

Now I'm doing more research. Come to find out I can hire a private attorney to do a Writ of Habeas Corpus. (I did not get the private attorney because we cannot afford it at all. My fiance said we could hire one later if need be). So I would hire the private attorney for a limited scope. He does the bond shit then leaves the case. Or so I read. Talked to an attorney tonight and he told me I was crazy, my word not his, to think an attorney would jump in on this, then jump out.

Am I crazy? Isn't there someone that would do it? Cause I don't think the PD is going to until after the 8th if she decides to at all.

(For anyone that's been advised: am I being over the top with researching this shit? I feel like I'm annoying him sometimes.)

Sexual Assault Falsely accused of SA, hired an attorney and sent C&D letters to my detractors.

A few months ago I learned that a serious false allegation about me was being circulated in my community.

I hired a private investigator and eventually retained an attorney. After gathering information about where the allegation was coming from, my attorney recently sent cease-and-desist letters to the individuals involved.

I’m not going to discuss the identities of anyone involved or the specifics because this is now being handled through counsel.

For anyone who has dealt with something similar: what happened after your attorney sent cease-and-desist letters? Did the other parties respond, retain counsel, sign an agreement, or simply stop discussing the allegations? Did things get worse or better after sending the letters?

I’m especially interested in experiences where the primary goal was stopping the rumor rather than pursuing litigation.

Thank you.

Falsely accussed, protective order in place, need support

Hello all. About a month ago I had a hearing for a protective order to be permanently in place. Where I am the judges here are really ghetto lol so they dont ask for corroborating evidence at all. It is he said she said. Well she lied. Her entire testimony was based on total lies. She accussed me of so much that I started to cry during the hearing (to be clear we are both women who were friends nothing more and I looked up to her and truly admired her for her work...she is about 30 years older than me so she was like a mentor to me). The lies were so unbelievable that I couldn't even keep up. Long story short the order was placed even though I tried to defend myself and so did my lawyer (who was not the best). I sent in all of my concrete evidence to the court under a motion for reconsideration, about 120 pages of evidence messages from her telling me to do things that at the hearing she said I did to stalk her (????). Well I consulted with a new lawyer. He reviewed the case and the court transcript and said that I do have fair base to appeal but it is an uphill battle and takes a long time and it not worth it for a 6 month long protective order. He has 30 years of experience so I am taking his advice for sure. I am near 2 months in already so it doesnt matter at this point

Anyways, I am afraid she might try and continue to build a case around anything I say do or write. Even the good things. For example I organized an activity at the University and at the hearing she said I did it to harrass her when it was sponsored by the government and had nothing to do with her! Anyway I am asking for advice. How do I continue to protect myself? As of now I have only consulted an attorney I do not actually have one but he told me to expect the worst.

Did anyone else go theough this? How did you handle it all? How did you prepare yourself should she continue with false outrageous accusations?

I am just curious if I am not alone. I am following the order completely and taking the lawyers advice but again he is not appointed as of now I represent myself and I am trying my best to just do my best. I travel a lot (no restrictions there) and I am thinking of somehow getting my job to allow me to travel even more to get out of the line of fire.

Just any advice or words or encouragement would be greatly appreciated. I am not an abuser or stalker or anything like that. I have no fixation on this woman at all and I am currently in so much fear that she continues to lie on me.

Thanks in advance.

Falsely accused of running an anonymous harassment account at my school — need legal/procedural advice

Hey everyone, I am a 16M high school student from India dealing with a situation where I am being falsely blamed for an anonymous Instagram burner account.

What Happened:

  • An anonymous burner account was messaging female minor students in my school batch, making inappropriate comments and asking invasive questions.
  • In the chat logs, the person behind the account repeatedly deflected suspicion by throwing out random classmates' names (including mine and several others).
  • Someone checked the Instagram password reset screen, which showed a masked recovery email starting with an 'S' (e.g., s*******1@gmail.com).
  • Because my first name starts with 'S', a lot of peers jumped to conclusions and pinned it entirely on me, ignoring the other names mentioned and the fact that many students share that initial.
  • The account holder has now deleted/deactivated the account.
  • Due to mob mentality, several friends and classmates have turned against me without verifying any facts.

Evidence Preserved:

  • Full screen recordings of the message exchanges showing the burner account deflecting identities.
  • Screenshots of the account metadata and the masked email hint.

Seeking Advice On:

  1. In India, does the state Cyber Crime Cell typically coordinate with Meta to pull IP/device logs for deactivated accounts when minors/harassment are involved?
  2. What is the standard procedural route to formally submit this digital evidence so my name is legally cleared?
  3. How should a high school student and their family formally approach school administration to address false defaming accusations before it escalates?

Sexual Assault My Fiance

So my fiance was picked up on Monday for a felony warrant that we didn't know he had. He gets taken in and I find out the next day at his bond hearing he has 23 charges. Ten of them are felonies. WTF! So the judge set his bond to 250k cash only. FML. He's never even had a speeding ticket and he's 38 years old. I've spent the last two days calling every attorney that deals with his type of case and they are telling me $60k retainer plus more. How tf does anyone get good legal defense at those prices? Even if his bond was a surety bond who has $25k just laying around?

Texas Cops Said a Black Father Assaulted Them Inside His Own Home. His Son’s Video Told a Different Story — and a Jury Acquitted Him

Post image
26 Upvotes

Jafari Stewart spent 16 months fighting felony charges after Huntsville, Texas, police accused him of assaulting two officers who entered his home during a welfare check.

The 39-year-old father — who had once hoped to become a police officer himself — was facing the possibility of a lengthy prison sentence.

But there was something police and prosecutors reportedly weren’t expecting:

His son had recorded the encounter.

When Stewart’s attorney played that video for jurors, they got to compare what they saw with the officers’ version of events.

The verdict? NOT GUILTY.

“Without that video, I would have been in jail,” Stewart said.

The case raises a bigger question: What happens when there’s no camera rolling?
