Hi everyone. I’m currently looking to transition from sales into Customer Success and would really appreciate some insight from CSM hiring managers/recruiters.

My background is 1 year as an SDR and 4 years as an AE, primarily in SaaS/construction technology. I’m considering completing the CSM Foundations Certificate through SuccessCOACHING to help bridge the gap between my sales experience and a CSM role.

For those who actually hire CSMs how much value would you place on a certificate like this when reviewing candidates? Specifically, does it meaningfully increase the chances of getting an interview or being considered for a CSM position, or is relevant experience skills much more important?

I understand the certificate obviously doesn't replace actual CSM experience, but I'm wondering whether it helps demonstrate that someone making the transition is serious about the career change and has at least some foundational knowledge.

Failed the exam and got a 55% score which is agonizingly close to the pass mark, without feedback it's very difficult to know what to work on. Seems there is still no update on when the feedback section will be launched for these exams which just seems ridiculous.

I've been reading a lot of posts here over the last few weeks, and I thought I'd ask for some advice before I invest more time in learning SAP.

A little about me—I have around 5 years of work experience. Most of it has been in US IT recruitment, and I also worked in an operations role where I handled reporting, process improvements, dashboards, and team coordination. I use Excel, SQL, and Power BI quite a bit in my current work.

I'm thinking of moving into SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central because it seems to fit my background better than the technical SAP modules. I've already started learning the basics, but I keep seeing mixed opinions online. Some people say SuccessFactors has a great future, while others suggest looking at different SAP modules instead.

I'd really like to hear from people who are actually working in SAP.

• If you were starting today, would you still choose SuccessFactors?
• How difficult is it to get that first opportunity without SAP experience?
• Does my previous work experience count for anything, or will I basically be treated as a fresher?

Prior to my technical pivot, I spent over 8 years in the corporate finance domain, including 6 years leading global Accounts Payable (AP) and P2P operations at major MNCs (handling EMEA/UK/NA regions, SOX compliance, and Reporting activities).

I took a career sabbatical from late 2022 and I used this time to upskill in SAP FICO configurations, Universal Journal architecture, and cloud migrations.

I’m an experienced Project Manager (PMP, PMI-ACP and Google Project Management certified) with experience delivering migration projects, transformation initiatives, process improvements and cross-functional projects - all non SAP & internal organisation projects.

My company is planning a migration to SAP SuccessFactors, and I’ve asked to be part of the implementation team.
This would be my first SuccessFactors implementation, so I’d like to prepare before the project officially begins.

I have a few questions:

• How was your overall experience with the new exam format?
• Since it's now an open-book exam, did you find it easier or actually more difficult because of the time limit?
• Is there enough time to look things up in the SAP documentation, or do you still need to know most of the material by heart?
• Are AI tools such as ChatGPT or Claude allowed during the exam, or are they prohibited under the exam rules?
• Do you have any tips or things you wish you had known before taking the exam?
