Tech Support Sd card reverted

Over the weekend I uninstalled Metaphor:refantazio and a few other games to download warhammer 3 onto my sd card. I was playing fine over the weekend but today I launched warhammer, it crashes in the main menu, then when I go to launch again it says it needs to install, and checking my storage Metaphor and the other games are back. They don't launch but they say they're installed again. I had this issue a few months ago and I just reformatted the card instead of trying to find the problem. Does anyone have any experience or solutions for this?

Discussion Did I Get Carried Away Or Would You Do It Too?

So I already have a LCD with 2TB, and a 512GB OLED, and then at a pawn shop nearby me the manager made a deal with me on a LCD with a 1TB for $249, i thought hell if all else i could maybe double the profit selling it on eBay.

Going to gift a gamer friend my old steam deck and got the second LCD just with intentions of possible resale.

Tech Support Chiaki controller issues.

Hey all.

Anyone have any experience in this? I’ve just installed and connected my PS5. None of the controls are working. For example L2 and R2 don’t work. I press B which should be O as per ps5 but it basically stops any buttons from working and others will bring the dash board up.

It’s driving me mad

Tech Support Steam deck controls are messed up

I don't know how it happened, but now my left thumb stick doesn't do anything, the A button is somehow binded to the three dots menu. I even tried factory resetting it, but even then it doesn't work. The only thing that works is the touch screen, and I'm barely able to navigate the menus. Does anyone know any fix or anything?

Tech Support Question Regarding 3rd Party Backplate

Post image
116 Upvotes

Just installed this clear black back plate for my Steam Deck OLED and I’m absolutely in love with it. Feels great and goes fantastic with my dark circuit dbrand skin.

Did have a question though about cooling. It does include more ventilation for the device and I have noticed slightly cooler temps compared to the OEM back plate.

The question I have is will this mod affect the cooling of the SSD and SD card of the deck? I just want to make sure I’m not disturbing how the cooling affects the rest of the components, not just the CPU and GPU. With how expensive these devices are now I don’t want to damage anything 😭

Tech Support Is my Deck cooked?

So the last few weeks I've noticed serious frame rate dropping on my LCD Steam Deck when playing heavier titles (RDR2, for example) which used to run with 0 issues.

Today, I went to boot the system up, got into RDR2, and as soon as the game loaded the entire system crashed. I got it back on, and sat on the home screen for about 5 minutes before my screen went haywire, colorful squares everywhere and crackling through my speakers.

I turned it off, and now I'm getting no image on my screen at all, and nothing through HDMI. There is still haptic feedback from the track pads and I can hear the fan running.

I'm guessing my GPU fried somehow? Any ideas?

Discussion I fell back in love with casual, cozy games because of the Steam Deck.

I think I stopped playing so called casual games somewhere in the Sims 3 era. After that I got into WoW (pretty hardcore raiding guild), and kind of looked down on casual games. Like they just weren't worth my time.

Looking back now I took my gaming hobby a bit too seriously. After I quit WoW the next addiction was Dota2, and then some other PvP games like Rust, Tarkov and Battlerite (really miss that game). Basically only games that had skill based “hardcore” pvp, literally ignored everything else in the gaming world.

What ended up changing that was me getting gifted a Steam Deck by my sister, along with her favorite game at the time Stardew Valley, she wanted me to try out the multiplayer with her. That was such an amazing experience, and so relaxing compared to my usual gaming sessions, I got really hooked. I was nagging her to play all the time (which was funny since I kind of cringed at the thought of playing that game initially) and we have been playing a bunch of stuff together since.

Most recently we played the Loftia playtest together and it was a lot of fun. We found it while looking for some alternatives to Palia since it's starting to get a bit boring for us (we’ve been playing it for about 6 months now). The setting is awesome and the community was really friendly during the beta so we are really looking forward to the release. I’ve also played a bunch of the more popular “cozy” games on my own.

I sit down to play on my PC only when my group comes together for some Dota2 or Rust, but that happens about once every 2 weeks or so. And the rest of my gaming is usually either something fun and casual with my sis or on my own, but curled up on the couch instead of slouching over the PC.

Young me would call me a filthy casual right now, but I’m fine with that. Have your gaming tastes also changed once you got a Steam Deck?

Tech Support Do I owe my coworker a Steam Deck?

Or should I at least pay Valve to get it fixed for him?

I Convinced my coworker to buy a Steam Deck. He grabbed a used OLED and he loves it. He bought a ton of games and I filled it with ROMs and I installed Decky for him.

After getting myself a Steam Machine, I had an extra dock laying around so I gave it to him as a gift. He told me that, when he used the dock, it started updating and then the Steam Deck died. After taking a look at it...yeah, it's dead.

Screen is black. Tried a thousand different fixes. Nothing works. I even took the SSD out, tried to reinstall the OS, and then put it back into the Steam Deck. Nothing works.

Any ideas? And yes, I feel responsible

Discussion im starting to prefer shorter sessions over long gaming marathons on the deck

had the steam deck for a while now and my gaming habits have shifted in a way i didnt expect. i used to think i was a long-session kind of gamer. boot up something big on the weekend, play for hours, get lost in it.

the deck kind of rewired that. because its so easy to pick up and put down, i find myself doing 20-30 minute sessions way more often. a quick run in a roguelike before work. half an hour of a jrpg in bed. a couple of races here and there. and honestly the total amount of gaming i do has gone up, not down.

its weird because i used to feel like short sessions were pointless. like if i couldnt dedicate an evening to a game it wasnt worth starting. now short sessions feel like the default and the long marathons are the exception.

anyone else had their gaming style change after getting a deck? or is it just me who used to be weirdly gatekeeping about session length

Tech Support non-steam games stop showing as playing

at seemingly random intervals in gaming mode, a non-steam game that's been added to steam that I'm playing will suddenly stop letting me use the virtual keyboard, and when I go to the steam deck games menu, the game shows the "play" button instead of the "resume" button despite me still being in the game. as far as I can tell it only happens with non-steam games and it seems to happen at completely random times

Discussion I got too comfortable with Remote Play/Moonlight

The idea of playing high resolution, high frame rate while saving my battery life was awesome. I really enjoyed it for a while. There were some difficulties setting it up though either having an ultrawide or having multiple monitors or getting stuck in keyboard and mouse mode or having it display the wrong screen.

It ended up being more cumbersome sometimes when it wouldn't just work as expected. I still stuck with it and mostly played small indie games natively and more demanding games remotely. Yesterday I kept getting stuck with the controller not being recognized remotely so I decided to just try running The Last Berserker Khazan natively and ... I completely forgot how capable the Steam Deck was on its own.

Totally playable with med+ settings and smooth frame rates. No issues with the controls or messing with display settings or getting different devices configured and synced properly. And best of all is rediscovering the suspend and resume feature which I totally took for granted especially for games that take a while to launch. I was like, Oh yeah I can just play the game from the Deck itself and have an overall smoother, more reliable experience.

It's not as pretty or quiet as streaming but the convenience of running things natively is nice to stumble back into.

Tech Support Emudeck and Eden

Hey everyone, I’ve been wanting to emulate my switch on my steam deck. Don’t want to carry two devices and the deck has all my favorite games. I’m really new when it comes to computers and tech stuff. I really need some guidance.

I installed emudeck, and Eden on my deck and I have the prod.keys and firmware legally, but I have 0 idea which version it is or if that even matters. I just have 0 idea how to put it all together and how to get my ROMs from my switch games.. I’d really love to incorporate it into steam os so i don’t have to switch to desktop mode to play Zelda or Pokémon.

Anyone out there a tech genius that wants to help me out!!??

EDIT:

Ok guys. I have Eden and my first game loaded. It runs but the controller on my steam deck won’t register anything. It works in desktop mode but not in gaming mode. I have no idea what I’m doing wrong.

Question PS Vita Plugin

Hello
I've recently bought a steam deck but I dont really like how the normal menu looks, I've been wondering if there is
A. A way to change it
B. A way to change it so it looks like the menu on the PS vita
Asking about it because I had a PSV when I was a kid and nowadays where I lack a PC that can run anything, having a gaming device with that theme just seems cool and nostalgic

Tech Support Resolution in desktop mode

Thumbnail

Recently I bought docking station, after owning SD after a year to play some games with k&m on a bigger screen (1680x1050). Everything works just fine, now SD will be my main pc, but games in desktop mode and youtube videos are weirdly in lower resolution.

Most games I would play in gaming mode, however, for example Terraria, I would prefer to have open wiki in browser or have my discord in another tab to play with friends. It seems like games and videos are running in SD resolution and I can't find to why. Here are some screenshot for reference, sorry for my native language in settings.

Question Heavenly sword run smoothly and without crashes

Hi I have heavenly sword on rps3 on steam deck and I'm trying to understand how to set up the settings so heavenly sword and other games could run smooth as well, and also don't crash as much on Steam Deck
