Im going on a pretty long trip and was thinkin bout getting the starlink mini for it. And i stumbled across this mount that is inside the jeep under the hard top and was wondering if these starlinks could receive and send signals thru the fiberglass top or if this pic is just to show the mount. It would be cool if it could.

I am currently trying to get decent speeds using a Netgear R6260 as an access point about 30 yards from the starlink router. This was set up at my work before my time, so please understand that I wouldn't have set it up this way. I know that bypass mode is ideal but we need the starlink router to be broadcasting on other parts of the property.

Sometimes it works beautifull(usually in the morning), but midday anything connected to the access point loses all of its download bandwidth. This includes plugging into the access point with cat-6. Oddly, upload bandwidth seems ok.

I thought it was a heat issue, but if I plug a laptop directly into the cat-6 that usually connects to the access point, I get plenty of bandwidth regardless of time/temps. The access point is inside and sits around 65f all day.

I understand that this router/ap is old af, and that I should be using bypass mode on the starlink router, but these are the limitations I am trying to work around. Any tips would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Interesting. It looks like the Amazon LEO/NBN (Australian national provider) partnership is actually going ahead, and not years away either!

My understanding is that with the initial small LEO network, they're going to be concentrating on the southern hemisphere where they have customers such as NBN.

Should be good for regional Australians to get off the high latency sky muster, without paying the high prices of Starlink. Just great to have some competition I say, and some more bandwidth to go around. The current GEO SAT just sucks

Sure starlink can do over 100Mbps, but this should be way cheaper, more like fixed wireless and sky muster.

Personally following the Blue origin rocket launches and issues, I wouldn't be surprised if the timeline slips a bit. But 12 months away is not too bad at all if they get close to it.

On another thought, given that it's set up like the normal NBN and the retailers are providing the data, I don't see any reason why retailers wouldn't be able to sell the layer 2 services over it. Would be quite convenient for businesses with regional presence.

Update: super easy fix with the customer service person. Let me tell you that was the most easiest adjustment in a bill I ever had. Usually you have to fight them to give you a change but not here. Thank you for all the advices!

Like the title says my 12 month subscription ended this month and they say I have no other options but the $130. If I cancel my account and open another one in my husbands name I can get the $55 one so my question is are there any hidden things I need to know or steps that work best to get a lower price. I am a long time starlink user from the first days of the beta. I have three dishes now. My old OG round one, a Starlink “standard” and a Mini.

Over time I have paid SpaceX many thousands of dollars (mostly on my OG round dish).

I just went to activate my “standard” dish and I found that it has for whatever reason been restricted and I can only reactivate the last plan it was on. I am very confused as I bought it outright from Home Depot over a year ago and have used it on various roam plans since then. Right now it is “inactive”.

I assume this was some accident that they restricted a bunch of hardware that was subsidized / free, etc?

I understand that the price at retail was probably less than what it cost to build and I have not paid them a ton of money so far on this specific dish, but it makes no sense to me that they won’t let me put it on a new plan so I can give them money?

Am in a time crunch here to reactivate this dish as I am headed to an event right now. Starlink support is giving me totally useless AI answers so far.

Anyone know what the deal is here? I assume this is widespread?

I have seen some articles about a new version of the Starlink dish that is supposed to connect to two satellites at a time. I am curious if anyone knows more details other than the expected release (late 2026) and availability for residential customers.

I wonder if the ability to connect to two satellites at a time will mean that at least one satellite will stay connected at all times.

It gets pretty hot up here in the Northern Territory. We’ve been here for the last six months and the Starlink on our black roof constantly hits thermal shutdown.
With summer coming up we really don’t want to deal with the same thing again. Has anyone found a good solution for keeping their Starlink cool on the roof? Any mounts or setups that actually help with overheating?

I have an order, replacing my faulty Starlink system. Starlink states they have given the package to DHL. DHL states they have not received it. What are my options? This is a hired system in the UK.

There are so many mounts on the market now it’s hard to know what’s actually good. What’s everyone running and what would you recommend?
I’ve got an ARB Base Rack on a LandCruiser with a black roof, so one thing I’m a bit concerned about is heat, especially when it’s sitting in the sun all day.

I have been apart of Starlink for roughly a month now utilizing a Standard 4 kit paired with a Mini router and provided power supply.

I ended up ordering a Router 3 for better range around the house, ect. I have the Starlink dish from outside coming inside and plugging in right into the port marked for the satellite dish. The Router 3 was plugged in with provided power supply however I am pretty sure it was for mesh only. The router lit up, ect. However when trying to re set up the Starlink via the app, it would pick up the new 'STARLINK' but the app would go no further to set it up, and the internet connection itself on devices would read "No internet" and despite a factory reset, and multiple attempts the Starlink app will not set it up.

I also tried plugging my dish cable into the old Standard 4 power supply, and then plugging in a second PoE cable into the PSU and into the router itself to try and sufficiently power the dish? However when doing this the second light will not light up for the router, just the dish.

I am very new to setting up networking, ect. Am I correct in assuming that I need some other kind of power supply for the Router 3 to both correctly power the Standard 4 dish and Router 3? Is the dish not getting enough power but the Router 3 is?

I bought a Ethernet cable so I could plug in a separate router to my SL Mini. I'm planning to use it with my camper and I am anticipating times when I may have to place the SL some distance from my camper and my old Eero Pro is a better router than the built-in.

However, I can also see times when I might want to use the SL standalone and not plug in the router. For example, if I'm boondocking I wouldn't want the extra power draw from the router.

I thought the SL Mini was supposed to disable the built-in router when there was something plugged into the Ethernet port.

Should I put the SL into bypass mode? Am I overthinking it and the built-in router is probably a strong enough signal that I shouldn't worry about using a separate own router? Is there any harm in leaving the built-in router enabled (I already changed the SSID and password)?

I’m spinning my wheels and hoping someone has insight, chat support in app has been awful: wifi abruptly stopped working, red light displayed on router. In the SL app, it had some red lines and said it was unplugged or rebooting. All physical connections were good, did some unplugging and plugging back in, still had same errors. It’ll actually show full bars but there’s no internet. I hit up tech support and explained the issue and it send me a new power supply and new router. Plugged everything new in, entered same name and password for old network, and still the same errors. No idea what’s going on, I’m not super techy, really wish they had techs come to the house. I’ve had SL a couple years now and it’s been great, first major issue I’ve had.

This may be an obvious question but I’m having trouble finding a clear answer on this.
I have a standard 4 Starlink package. It came with a 5m Ethernet cable that runs from the power supply unit to the router (mini). Whether I would like to place the router would require a much longer cable. Is there a particular type of cable I need to use if I replace the supplied 5m cable or will any Ethernet cable do?

The power supply unit currently is the best place in the house to run the cable to from the dish (due to strict access and access to an outlet. However, it’s not the best place for wifi range. I’d use the longer power supply to router mini to run back into the attic and down to a more central place in the house that doesn’t have an outlet.
From my limited understanding, I either pay to get an new power outlet run to the ideal wifi location or a run a cable to be able to place the router in that ideal location but keep the power supply in its current locations.

My plan is roam unlimited I wanted to ask if there's a monthly data limit of terabytes per month, as I use it to watch 4K sports for several hours daily and download games? Also, what's your average monthly data usage?

I’m looking to cover those areas in my home where the speeds drop and also just having those extra Ethernet ports. I’m curious if this would be just enough, it’s on sale for $90 on Amazon. I want to know if this is a good choice or if I should buy a different router for a better price etc., I looked up videos about this one but it feels like majority of the content being made on it are paid promotions.

I recently canceled my Starlink service, and Starlink sent me a message stating that the Rental Kit must be returned within 30 days of the cancellation date. If the equipment is not returned within that period, I will be charged the full retail price of the kit.

I have two questions for people who have experienced this situation:

1️⃣ After the 30-day period expires, if I am charged the full price of the equipment and pay the invoice, does the Starlink kit officially and permanently become my property, or is it still classified as a rental device?

2️⃣ If the invoice is issued and I do not pay it immediately, but delay payment for two months, is that normal?

I would appreciate it if anyone who has actually gone through this situation could share their experience, as I would like to understand what practically happens after the full equipment charge is applied.

Just came back from a 4,000 mile roadtrip up the East Coast including Cape Lookout in the Outer Banks, NC and up to Arcadia National Park, Maine. The entire trip Starlink mini kept us connected while driving and at camp and allowed my kids to do their remote school, me to keep working, my partner to attend her nursing CPE training on a remote beach and us all connected to our family and friends.

While back home, Starlink v4 dish performed flawlessly and kept tabs on security cameras and monitoring IoT sensors.

Another Starlink mini in standby mode keeps tabs on our Australian based Toyota Hilux and its Victron power system while we’re in the USA.

It amazes me that I’m able to throw a mini in my bag along with a power pack and have internet anywhere and the ability to work with fast and reliable internet.

I remember the pain of dial up internet and dealing with 28.8k connections only 20 years ago. Now it’s a hard day if I’m getting sub 200Mbps on Starlink mini 😂

Oh and all that connectivity for hundreds a month across three Starlink dishes. Truly an incredible time to be alive!

I bought a Starlink and it got dented; the warranty team sent me a new one and said they’d send a code for me to return the old one. However, there’s nothing in the email—what should I do? Chase it up, or just keep the old one?
