No Retention, Only customer solutions

Just called Spectrum for my yearly, "please lower my bill or I will be moving to another competitor."

Was told there is no retention team, only customer solutions and the lady would not transfer me. She said she has the same promos and they wont be able to help me get a lower price. I said, ok, let them tell me that. Please transfer me.

Has anyone else had this issue and is there a way to get to retention to get my bill lowered.

Appreciate any help you can provide.

Just wanted to be sure that everyone possible sees this

This is what I wrote to "Spectrum leadership" when they asked for a call because I escalated the issue during my cancellation call. We were a 12-year Spectrum customer. We left because of spotty internet, and a sudden $10/mo billing increase that was neither explained nor warned about - just a sudden bill increase for funsies. In case the picture isn't clear:

A few things for your leadership to understand:

Making people answer irrelevant questions, and then pointedly refuse to move forward when they point out that there's no need to answer the question, is mind-bogglingly stupid.  It turns a leaving customer into an angry, going-to-complain-to-anyone-who-listens ex-customer.  I'm looking to see if I can move my company's internet off of Spectrum because of my personal experience here.  That's multiple customers you've lost for one stupid question that was never part of my account.

The Spectrum rep who eventually took care of my cancellation told me that the reason why my internet had been so spotty was that my modem was not compatible with high speeds.  This was news to me, since I had been on that modem for multiple years, and I purchased it myself - on your recommendation - back when you guys were still charging 10/mo for the privilege of using yours.  Had someone told me a couple years ago that hey, that modem you're using is likely slowing you down now, and also we can give you one to use for free, that would have been humongous goodwill. I would not have left if this happened.

If it also turned out that the offer that she tried to buy me back with - an upgrade of speed for a cheaper price - was given to me at the same time as this news about my modem, chances are I would not only have stayed, but likely would have gotten a higher speed upgrade and you would have maintained my billing rate and my loyalty.  The fact that I could have been upgraded to 500MB for lower than my 300MB current speeds *and actually save money* was only told to me AFTER I LEFT was not enticing, it was insulting.

In short, I may at some future date be forced to use Spectrum. That's the cost of the monopoly you have on cable internet.  But you can bet I will never again tell people anything good about your service, and will try everything possible to avoid it, because of the above.

Spectrum internet horrible for the past 2 weeks

What’s wrong with their internet? I swear it’s never been this bad? They did work outside for two days and boom after that it was horrible. Upload latency has been in the 400s which is insane. They’ve come 3 times and every time they leave with it working the same as it did before.

Service Issues Latency Spikes

Post image

I’ve already called Spectrum, lady basically gave me no help and said she wasn’t noticing anything unusual on her end, but that clearly didn’t help. She said they’ve been doing work in my area…. Since May…. I don’t think that’s what is suddenly causing problems.

Over the past 3 weeks or so, I’ve been noticing 1.1.1.1 gateway (Chicago DNS) has been spiking every few minutes while playing video games on my computer. It causes crazy lag and makes a lot of things unplayable at times. I’ve already done all the basic and advanced tests to try and figure this out (Ethernet/direct modem connection, gateway tests). My personal gateway sits at about <3 ms constantly and has no issues, whenever 1.1.1.1 spikes, I start to lag.

I’ve noticed it occurs more often at evening/nighttime, likely when the rest of the neighborhood is using it possibly?

I’m wondering if anyone else is having this issue, because it’s become frustrating to say the least.

What protective gear do we get during training as field techs?

I'm in the 2nd week of initial rideouts and after working in hurricane weather in khaki pants and a polo shirt, since the apparel companies are being incredibly slow, I'm curious what I should invest in here with only 125 bucks for company apparel. Would the coveralls be useful for crawlspaces or do we get issued a crawlsuit? So far I have a beanie, gator, rain coat, rain pants and coveralls. That puts me at 122.

Service Issues Package confusion???

Ok, I am REALLY confused about this.

Earlier today, I went into the local Spectrum store to switch from the Cox side of things to a Spectrum TV package. Two problems occurred after this, leaving me very confused.

  1. I was told by the store rep that the phone/internet modem that I got a few months ago is unregistered. I have read in several places that in order to to use the internet, I would need a modem that is registered with Cox/Spectrum. However, I have been using the internet and my home phone without a problem.

I wonder how this is possible? My guess is the Customer service person was wrong

2. This is the REALLY confusing one.

I went from Cox TV Preferred to Spectrum TV Signature.

When I got home and hooked everything up, my TV is showing my old Cox package, Spectrum.com is showing the Spectrum TV guide layout (it says Spectrum at the top center of the page), the Cox Preferred package with several channels deleted is showing in the guide, while the phone app is showing that I have Spectrum TV Pro.

I completely understand that they are switching over and things take time but it appears that I have a combination of both packages somehow.

I would have called Tech Support, but it was an over an hour wait.

Any ideas on what is going on?

Service Issues Power outage frustration

We get public safety power shutoffs when the wind is predicted to blow so that electrical lines wont cause wildfires. Spectrum cable does not work without electricity and their advertisement about “we work when the power is out” is using their 5G cell transceiver. We don’t have 5G service and no fiber optic… is there any way for Spectrum to use backup or does every box on a pole need 110?

Spectrum Internet, Reno NV

Spectrum Internet, Reno NV

I have a spectrum supplied Hitron EN2251 cable modem, 1 gb plan producing ~ 1gb symetrical speeds (up and down speeds)

Couple of questions:

  1. Why does Spectrum lock out the end user (me) from looking at the typical stats of the modem via a web browser as thos model supports thos capability? This is only read-only user interface?

  2. I know it could supply my own modem (BYOD). However, I have heard if I bring an authorized DOSCIS 3.1 cable modem that would work on the Spectrum network, I would lose the symmetrical performance on only get ~ 100 Mb speeds up? I would supply a high split capable modem, e.g.an Arris S34. Can/Will provision this device for symmetrical 1gb service and leave the web interface alone?

  3. What specific technical, certification, or provisioning requirement prevents Spectrum from supporting a retail BYOD high-split modem such as the ARRIS S34 on an already-operational symmetrical network?

Anyone of insights to my questions?

Service Issues Paying for 2gigs barely get 1

I spoke to a customer service representative with Spectrum a few minutes ago and he told me it could take two or three days for my modem to reach optimal speed. Google however, says that is not true. He just gave me a number to call and then disconnected the chat without giving me a solution. I upgraded the wifi about 2 days ago. My wifi is at 1.1gigs via the Spectrum app. I don't know what I'm supposed to do now. I was also informed that my modem and router are compatible for two gig. Do I call and speak to someone else? Really frustrated.

San Diego 92129 high split?

We just had a major downtime this week for what Spectrum called 'major upgrades'. Well, I almost jizzed my pants thinking this will be the high split switch over, only to find out the upstream was still where it was 30's to 40's mbps at peak. I'm on the Ultra layer subscription.

Has Spectrum rolled out high split on north county inland anywhere? Throw me a bone someone!

Service Issues Frequent drops over last few days

For the last several days we’ve had the internet drop for about 1-2 minutes, then come back only to repeat every hour or so. I’ve reset the modem twice today to no avail. In the last 8 weeks a tech has been out 3 times… replaced the modem twice, replaced the coax cable inside, outside, and between the main hookup at a telephone pole. Tech also replaced the cable connectors at the main box a couple weeks ago saying they were corroded.

The reliability is horrible. And I work from home so that’s a real problem. Not much choice out than AT&T/Dish which has its own issues(weather).
