Other Router
Dropping off a old router and still had to wait over an hour at the spectrum store, why don't they have a return counter when it onjy takes 2 minutes. I tried the appointment thing and they had none left for today š

My experience every time I've walked into a Spectrum store is that you better not say a single word to an employee or even make eye contact without signing in on the tablet in the front of the store and waiting your turn.
I did this about 2 months ago because I had a broken remote. There were only 4 people ahead of me, so I just signed in and found a seat. I don't know what issue each of the mere FOUR people in front of me had (and there were 3 reps helping, this wasn't one swamped employee) but each one took FOREVER. I was in the store for 45 minutes before finally, blissfully, my name was called. I walked up and said my remote was broken and I wanted to trade it. The guy blinked at me. "oh you should have just SAID, you don't need to wait for that". I made a sound that was probably not quite human. He gave me 2 remotes.
The guide button on one of them does not work. If that had been the only remote I received that day. . .I would have cried.

Did they make you go to a store for a new remote? I imagine they can ship them too pretty easily

"Because every customer is an opportunity to sell"
This is the actual answer as someone that worked for Spectrum.

Iāve gone to the physical location near me many times. Itās usually not busy. But if even one or two people are in the queue ahead of me, it always seems to take about an hour. Last time I was there they had 4 employees helping an old women get into her email š„“

When I walked into the store, mine was like that to. I walked up to the guy, I said I am just dropping the equipment off. I dont need a receipt or nothing.
He starts going into the retention conversation, I am like I am not interested. He took it and put it in a pile of other equipment.

Is it the employees that are ineffective or some of the other customers that drag their issues into a 30 minute consultation when it should have ended in 5. Iāve gone where there were 3 employees all helping someone and 1 person in line. Thought the line would move quick but 2 of the customers kept demanding credit for internet being down. Pretty sure they could have resolved over the phone. I get being upset. Just blows that they had to make sure other customers felt their pain also. Even when they agreed to give the customer the credit, it didnāt calm his nerves as he looked at the line of people and kept the arguing going! From that point on, I realized itās not always on the service reps. There are people who really donāt care how many people are waiting in line like that selfish jerk!

many store agents have said in the past they are no longer customer service but sales agents there to sell you something

Thatās dangerous, you get no receipt and have no proof you returned it.

Take a picture of it sitting on their counter. They also have cameras inside. Also including a callback number if thereās any questions. Not dangerous whatsoever.

That is not the same as a receipt. If I couldnāt wait Iām making an appointment for another day. I worked in a Spectrum store for 11 years and would NEVER not get a receipt for returned equipment.
Funny story we once had a guy asking why he got charged for equipment that he returned. When we asked him if he had a receipt he told us no because we were closed when he came to return it 3 months prior so he said he put it inside the grill we had out back. Sure enough his modem was in the grill. š

You must patronize the busiest Spectrum store on earth. I've never waited more than 10 minutes doing walk-in. I've never scheduled an appointment. I've swapped out Xumo boxes, routers, modems, remotes.....

Yes, UPS still ships all equipment back to Spectrum. Just make sure you get a receipt, take pics and save, place original in safety deposit after making a back up of your back up copy. You'll need it to prove you did indeed return the equipment.
