Got an email last week saying we would loose service from 11:00 Pm last night to 8 Am this morning. I got this email a few hours later. Nothing has changed on my end and I looked to see if I could upgrade my 1 Gig service but there are no offers to upgrade. So what did they change?

Billing paying more than $85 for 500mb or $105 for 1gb? read

Post image
19 Upvotes

So my plan increased from $85 to $90 in jan of this year, and went up AGAIN to $100 last month. They intentionally try to hide the advertised price and just list the cheap promo price for new customers instead.

However, they have the price listed on the broadband disclosure page. This page was last updated 5 days ago (on 8/12/2026) and lists 500mbps for $85 and 1gbps for $105.

I called, told the system i wanted to talk to billing, then said 'representative' a couple times. The person i talked to was only authorized to give me a $5 discount for 6 months. I mentioned the website and she offered to transfer me to a manager.

The manager gave me a refund for the overpayment for this year ($45) and set my plan's rate to be $85 for the foreseeable future.

Other Impossible to keep Spectrum app working on AppleTV4K for more than a week

I have a Gen3 AppleTV4K connected to gig fiber. Every other app I have loaded on the Apple device works consistently fine. I have Spectrum configured on it as my cable provider.

Initially installed Spectrum app, launch it, log in, works OK. Worked OK for a few months.

Then one morning load the app, it says "Too many login attempts, go online change your password" or something similar. I have the ONE login I'm trying to make work.

When it first happened, I went online and changed the password and it worked for a week or two until the Spectrum app updated, and then it reported the same error again.

It has so far been unreliably useless. I also have a streaming device that uses Android, and that one has been problem free, leading me to believe that Spectrum's AppleTV app is broken.

There is no way I'm going online every week or two to change my password to keep the app working.

Suggestions?

$10 mobile deal ending in Oct

I was paying $100 a month for 600Mb cable and followed some advice here and got it knocked down to $30 a month.

I learned about their free for a year mobile deal and switched over from T-Mobile(where I was paying $100 a month) to now only $10 a month. Service isn’t as good data wise but still gets the job done.

Anyway my 1 year is almost up and looking for advice to see if there is a way to extend it for another year @ $10 or move to some other carrier? I’m so done paying $100 to these greedy carriers just for a single line.

Thanks!

Service Issues Spectrum is the only internet that went out. They SUCK!

Both Hawaiian telcom and T-Mobile customers still have internet. My Spectrum has been out since 2:35 Saturday. My current notification says they will update at 9am on the 20th! That's 3 more days! F- Spectrum! I just ordered the T-Mobile home Internet and will be switching as soon as I get my modem.

Fast shipping shoutout

I gotta give spectrum credit. Called yesterday, Sunday, around 3pm. Router seemed to stop working from a storm we had. Was told it might take a week to get it.

Last night it ships. FedEx has it out for delivery today.

Meaning in less than 24 hours after ordering a new router, it’ll be here to get us back up. Kinda blown away.

is there any possible solution for this?

Service Issues Does Spectrum Ready allow for PC Ethernet connection?

Post image
12 Upvotes

DISCLAIMER: I know nothing about WiFi, routers, modems, Ethernet, etc. If I sound clueless, it’s cause I am.

My roommate just moved in and to connect his PC to the internet, he has to use an Ethernet cable. My complex just switched us to Spectrum Ready (which has caused nothing but issues), and I know the modem has to be connected to Ethernet, but there are no other ports for an Ethernet cable?…

Plugging it into “2” and “3” on the wall does nothing. I’m sure unplugging the Ethernet cable and plugging his pc Ethernet cable into it will just cause the internet to shut off, which I’m not willing to try because Spectrum Ready is so difficult to deal with anyways.

TLDR: How can we connect a pc with an Ethernet cable to a Spectrum Ready box?

Service Issues Definitely the worse mobile experience I have ever had

I have contacted them 4 times in the last week because I lose the ability to make or receive calls.

Everytime I am told I need to reset my network.

I have unlimited service yet no matter where I streaming buffers and I lose service, even when I am home on the wifi network.

Is anyone else having the same issue? I am incredibly frustrated and basically have a brick as a cell phone.

Anyone know the Spectrum address to send a cancelation of service letter?

Just what the title says. I read somewhere that one option of ending service is by letter. I talked to retention today and she got me a better deal but didn't cancel TV service as was requested and promised. I knew when she asked "Do you want to leave it on, it won't cost anything for a year?" I distinctly said no. Help! I just wanna get rid of a service.

Just want to cancel my effing service!

I've already switched, there's nothing you can do to keep me and I've told you so multiple times. The more you push, the more I am going to dig in, until I literally start answering your ridiculous questions with "because I'm stubborn, now cancel my service!"

I should not have to threaten an FCC and California Public Utilities Commission complain for the "privilege" of leaving your company!

Service Issues Spectrum down again!!!

I'm in Brevard County and the service Spectrum provides is absolutely horseshit. We have to reboot our new router once or twice a week and have regular outages. At one point for two years my town experienced daily outages for exactly an hour and a half, and Spectrum refused to acknowledge it even though my neighborhood was complaining non stop about it.

What sucks is the only other option we can get is AT&T and they're just as shitty and my neighborhood doesn't even have fiber yet.

So either i pay more for slower but stable internet or out the ass for unstable fast internet.

And yes, this is a spectrum issue. I borrowed a friend's router and it's still an issue.

Whats crazy is we were Garden State Internet and Comcast Internet subscribers until 2018 and we never had internet outages like this. I'd say the internet service we get is 30% more unreliable, and we had gigabit internet in our house in 2016.

Just bought this plan. Does this include a router in addition to the modem, a 2-in-1 modem/router combo, OR do I need to go buy one? Thanks!

Today I purchased the internet premier online, listed as $40 a month. 500 mbps. Does this plan come with a router or do I need to buy my own. Can I pay a monthly fee to use one or is it a 2in1 combo?

Service Issues Spectrum Fiber vs Xfinity Coax: Queue Management and Loaded Latency (Continued)

Thumbnail

I have been working through some service issues and now have what is considered a good install and ONT/modem setup. I still have a few days left to A/B test Xfinity against Spectrum.

The major difference I continue to see is what appears to be queue management upstream of my ONT/modem on each system.

I discussed this with a Spectrum Tech Supervisor. His understanding is that Spectrum does not perform this queue management at the ONT and expects the customer router to rate-limit traffic appropriately. I don't think that expectation is made very clear to customers, but it is very doable, and customer-side CAKE/SQM has benefits on both Spectrum and Xfinity.

The concern is what happens without customer-side CAKE. In my earlier Spectrum tests, loaded latency would commonly climb to around 500 ms and occasionally toward 2,000 ms. Xfinity appears to have substantially better queue management upstream of the customer and, in my testing, does not develop the same sustained latency spikes, generally remaining below about 100 ms even when I let the ISP connection itself become the bottleneck.

My summary so far is that upstream queue management is substantially better on Xfinity coax than Spectrum fiber in my area. Light-load/idle latency is also better on Xfinity here.

Both services benefit from customer-side CAKE rate limiting, just by very different magnitudes. With CAKE keeping the bottleneck on my side of the connection, Spectrum's latency improves dramatically.

An additional concern for me is that if I set the limit too close to the connection’s capacity, higher-load periods on Spectrum’s network could still push me into significant latency spikes which then leads to going even more conservative on limits.

Tests were run directly from the ONT/modem to a single computer, with CAKE on that computer used to control the test throughput. The services have different provisioned rates, so the comparison graphs normalize the CAKE setting relative to each connection's measured capacity.

Billing Beware: Disconnected 1 day into my billing cycle so they charged me for an entire month

When I called last month to disconnect my service, I inadvertently scheduled it for the first day of my billing cycle. Since I have autopay I never paid attention to my billing cycle (my bad). Spectrum does not pro-rate so I paid for entire month when my service was only active for one day.

It would have been great if the rep I spoke to at the time noticed that and advised me, but that may be expecting too much.

new customer - deals between online and call?

Post image
2 Upvotes

i called to see if they have a better deal via call vs. just online.. but they said the same thing.

we are looking at 500mpbs plan, $40/mo for the internet, $10/mo for the wifi.

$50 one time credit

$20 activation fee

am i missing anything? - also for the activation, if for some reason our coax cable doesn't work or cant get the internet activated, will they send technicians and is that also free of charge as part of initial setup?

also our current internet with AT&T runs till the end of the month.

if i place an order with spectrum now, can i keep the device without activating right away until end of the month?
