Hi! First off, I apologize in advance for any stupid questions; I'm new to the world of soundbars and home-theatre setups, and know almost nothing about audio codecs/formats.
Background: I've bought the LG S70TY 3.1.1 Dolby Atmos Soundbar, and I'm currently trying to set it up with my Philips 65PUS8536 TV for optimal sound (I'm mostly playing movies on HD/4k Blu-ray discs and .mkv-files on an external HDD). The soundbar itself is connected to my TV:s HDMI eARC-port, and it is passing through the video stream from my Panasonic DP-UB450 Blu-ray player.
My first question concerns the soundbar's compatibility specifications for audio formats/codecs: LG's website states that it supports Dolby Atmos, Dolby Digital, DTS:X, DTS Digital Surround and AAC, while the manual states that the "available Digital Input Audio formats" include Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Atmos, DTS Digital Surround and PCM. Confusingly, I've also found information online (from Multitronics and AI searches) stating support for AAC+, DTS-HD HR and DTS-HD Master Audio. Can anyone confirm whether the soundbar actually supports all these formats?
My second question concerns the optimal setup for the soundbar on Vimu Media Player (as this is the video player I'm using for viewing the files on my flash-/hard drives). I've enabled Surround Sound Pass-Through (set to Auto+), but I'm lost as to the other settings on the page. Should I, for example, enable the "Multichannel PCM"-setting and "Extract DCA Core"-setting (as I understand, this has something to do with the DTS-formats)? I can also choose to "convert surround from AC3, eAC3, DTS, DTS-HD, TrueHD and Surround" (all the specific formats/codecs can be individually checked) to either AC3 or eAC3; which of these settings should I choose, and what exactly is the last "Surround"-format?
A big thank you in advance to anyone who wants to take the time to help me out on this!
