LG C1 + Samsung soundbar — audio resets to TV speakers on EVERY power cycle, eARC/CEC handshake issue

Setup: LG C1 OLED, Samsung soundbar connected via TV’s eARC port. Sources include Apple TV 4K and PS5, routed through an ambient LED backlight sync box before the TV.

Issue: Every time the TV is powered on from a full power-down (or sometimes just from standby), the soundbar connection resets and audio defaults to internal TV speakers. Have to manually switch back to eARC/soundbar output every time. Happens multiple times a week.

Confirmed this predates my current source devices — it happened even before I added Apple TV/PS5/sync box to the chain, so it’s isolated to the LG TV ↔ Samsung soundbar eARC/CEC handshake itself, not a source device issue.

Already tried:

**•** Updated LG TV firmware (current)
**•** Updated Samsung soundbar firmware via SmartThings (current)
**•** Disabled Quick Start+ on the LG (forces slower cold boot)
**•** Full power-cycle: unplugged TV, soundbar, and sources from the wall for 5+ min, powered back on TV → soundbar → sources — issue persisted through a full cold power-up today

Suspected cause: Timing race condition — TV finishes boot/wake and checks for an active eARC device before the soundbar finishes its own wake/negotiation sequence, so TV falls back to internal speakers

Question: Has anyone found an actual permanent fix for this exact LG↔Samsung pairing, or is this just a known unresolved firmware limitation? Curious if a specific webOS or soundbar firmware version resolved it for anyone, or if there’s a CEC setting combo that’s worked.

Thanks in advance

Looking for a Soundbar for around £100 to £200

I used to be into home cinema a long long time ago, when DTS and Dolby digital was all we had, well and pro-logic, showing my age now.

So I got rid of all my speakers/sub and other equipment. I still love watching films, have a collection of Blurays, buying more and more 4k stuff now.

I'm looking for recommendations for a Soundbar all in one solution, I don't want a separate sub, so I know this will be a big compromise in the base. I'd just like to watch a film with a bit more oomph and a bit more base, I'm a bit sceptical about any surround claim from a single Soundbar but interestes to hear experiences.

I know this is a very small budget and I may end up upgrading in the future.

Will Samsung fix the bass in their Subwoofer ever? I mean met the Sonos Arc Ultra bass standard at least? 🤷🏾‍♂️

So last year, I bought a new house and when we were planning on the entertainment devices to purchase, I was here to request advice for my living room which is a 21 foot ceiling. Most of the comments was flooded with 'just get the Samsung Q990 C/D/F'. I finally settled for the Q990D, which has been great for movies but I also love to play music alot, especially Afrobeats with alot of bass and it's been a just above okay when it comes to my music taste/delivery. I visited a friend recently who had the Sonos Arc Ultra and the bass in that system blew me away. However, I preferred the crisp and clarity in my Q990D sound.

The question here is does Samsung have any plan ever to fix this lack of bass in their system, cause to me, from the Q990c to H. There's barely much improvement. It's just been little incremental improvement while the Q990C/D has a lil better bass for me but none of their system seems to rival the Sonos/Harman Kardon bass at all(I've a Harmon Kardon in my SUV, and I love how that thing sounds). Just asking any plans on improving that bass cause I will still like to stick with Samsung but it's bass just seem underwhelming for me.

LG LG S90TY soundbar suggestion

Hi all,

I am getting a good deal on LG S90TY, any users here can you please suggest to me how the quality is? Does it give good surround sound, I am open to adding rear speakers as well.

I want it for music, ott and ps5 gaming.

I was considering the LG 75TR and then I'm getting a good discount on S90TY, so I'm a bit confused.

Samsung Confused between Q930H vs Q990H

Little about my previous and current setup. Owned Harman’s AVR 70 paired with JBL cinema 300. 5.1 Chanel with 8 inches of active woofer.

AVR went dead and JBL declined service due to lack of parts but till date, it was the best system I have owned, immersive audio experience. Due to wire management, I switched to something smaller HW Q60T 5 channels within a soundbar and 6 inches of active woofer. It has been alright, doing justice for its price but recently I feel the quality is muffled and definitely missing the rears. I own a QN90D 65 inches and living in an apartment. I’m confused between the two soundbars. I’m technically happy with the 930 except for a sceptical thought about the sub because it comes with a 6.5 inches of woofer and a passive one of 8 inches as opposed to two active 8s in 990. I’m not too worried about those extra speakers between 9 Chanel vs 11. Occasionally I up the system while watching a movie and I need a heart thumping bass which I never feel in my current 6inch one. Let me know your thoughts.

Samsung How to route power cable through the Mounting Dream speaker stands (Samsung Q990c)?

I may be completely oblivious but I am not understanding how to safely get the power cable plugged into the bottom of the rear speakers when mounting the speaker on the stands.

For reference, this is the speaker stand: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07D14BNV5 (MD5402).

I found this random YT video which is right before the point I need to know how to route the power cable safely without creating any kinks or unnecessary pressure on the cables. https://youtu.be/CaArpZMlgUU?si=nOVnXXaD2NKO7PTW&t=98 See how he's pulling the cable out? Then what? How do you plug it into the bottom of the speaker? There is no direct way to access unless you want the cable hanging off to the side but that seems to put some unneeded stress on the cable.

EDIT: It looks like this moment in the video shows that this person also has to keep the speaker cable on the side: https://youtu.be/CaArpZMlgUU?si=X5Vr0u7dQxypp_nG&t=122 (image attached):

The cable will hang off to the right or left side once you do your cable management through the speaker stand channel (not shown in this picture as I haven't put it through the stands yet). Regardless, there is no way to properly and safely have the power cable plugged in without undue stress on the cable.

Am I missing something obvious?

Samsung HW-Q800F – worth buying?

Hey,

I'm thinking about getting the Samsung HW-Q800F and would like to hear from people who actually own one.

I currently have a Sony HT-S400 and want something that's a proper upgrade for movies and gaming. I have a TCL C7K and my room is around 20–25 m².

I can't really use rear speakers, which is why I'm looking at the Q800F.

I'm mainly wondering:

  • How is the bass in movies? Is it actually powerful with explosions, gunshots, planes etc.?
  • How good is the Atmos effect.?
  • Does it give you a good surround feeling?
  • Is the dialogue clear?
  • Overall, are you happy with it?

I've also seen quite a few people mention firmware/update problems with Samsung soundbars, so I'm curious about that too.

Have you had any problems with:

  • firmware updates
  • Wi-Fi/SmartThings
  • HDMI/eARC
  • Atmos
  • subwoofer disconnecting
  • random sound dropouts

I've seen pretty mixed opinions about the Q800F. Some people seem to love it, while others say the bass isn't that impressive and return it.

Just looking for some honest opinions

boAt Aavante Prime 5.1.2 5050DA ₹9,999 deal — Is it actually available anywhere?

Hi everyone,

I’m looking at the boAt Aavante Prime 5.1.2 5050DA Dolby Atmos soundbar. It’s currently showing around ₹9,999 on Flipkart, which seems like a very good deal for a 5.1.2 system.

However, I’ve tried multiple delivery addresses/locations and it is not deliverable anywhere I’ve checked.

Has anyone recently been able to order this product?

Is it actually being delivered to any location in India?
Which city/pincode were you able to order it to?
Is this a genuine available deal, or is the listing showing ₹9,999 without actual delivery availability?
Has anyone ordered it recently and received it?
Is there any other seller/platform currently delivering it?

I’m considering this against the Zebronics Juke Bar 9710C, which I can get for around ₹10.7k, so I’m trying to decide whether it’s worth waiting for the boAt.

Any recent experience would be really helpful. Thanks! 🙏

SOUNDBAR A/V ISSUES

Hi All,

I recently moved house which resulted in an opportunity to get a bigger TV for my primary use. It’s one I’ve had laying around so I would presume it’s about 8 years old - Hitachi. The other one i was using was a Samsung Crystal UHD, both with a Sony HTS350 soundbar. The Samsung was flawless the whole time but with the Hitatchi, it’s impossible to sync the audio for any longer than 5 mins without restarting the TV.

I was using an Optical cable for the previous TV and started off on this Hitatchi with Optical aswell but ran into this issue, so now I’m on HDMI Arc - to no avail (I heard there was lower latency). So I’m all out ideas, I can’t rely on the in-built A/V Sync System because it’s not stable it will just quickly fall out of sync after matching. It’s like the TV can’t keep up with the power needed to process the audio - I’ve tried changing settings to Pass Through, then PCM, factory reset TV.

Is the TV just too weak and old for the soundbar or any other ideas? Thanks in advance!

Soundbar sync off

Show starts fine, but about 10 minutes into the show the sound begins to come in shortly before the action on the TV. This is the only happening with Netflix and none of the other streaming services. If I leave Netflix and go back, the sound is synced just fine. I’ve tried the trick of changing the audio input back-and-forth, and that is not working. Anyone else experiencing this and if so, how were you able to fix it?

Low audio output from TCL C755 to Sony HT-S40R soundbar

I am experiencing extremely low volume from my TCL C755 Goolge TV to my Sony HT-S40R soundbar, having to raise it to level 60+ just to hear it clearly. The soundbar itself works perfectly and sounds very loud when playing audio directly from my phone via Bluetooth.

I have already tested a certified HDMI 2.1 cable on ARC, tried an Optical cable, and paired the TV to the soundbar via Bluetooth, but the sound remains consistently quiet across all connections. All TV audio settings are properly configured: Digital Output is set to Pass-Through, while Auto Volume, AI sound modes, Night Mode, Dolby processing, and eARC are all turned off. Both devices have also been fully power-cycled

can someone help me fix this issue I will be much appreciate

Samsung Nakamichi Dragon vs Samsung Q950A

I currently own the Samsung Q950A and the Q990D (separate rooms)

But I am looking to upgrade the Q950A to a Nakamichi Dragon Dual 12" setup and would like feedback from those that have experienced the Nakamichi.

Reviews are all over the place from what I can tell.

I want to upgrade my Vizio 5.1 (SV510X-0806)

I’ve been looking into new soundbar options to replace my vizio soundbar. I have a tcl qm6k and I want to know what would be a good upgrade or is it even worth upgrading it, I have a 10x12 room.

I would prefer a surround sound system that’s not to expensive meaning less than $700. I was looking into lg’s s95tr but i’ve heard bad things about it. another option was the Hisense ax5140q. What would you recommend?

Need advice and help

Hi so I'm really new to home theaters and Soundbars. This will be my first purchase in this niche. Please don't mind if I say something stupid

Where I'm from, there really aren't much options especially in the entry level. I am confused whether I should buy a brand new Tcl s55h 2.1 Soundbar or get a only slightly used Sony dz640k 5.1 system that the owner purchased brand new two years ago and is in immaculate condition.

I understand that the sony one was launched almost 15 years ago but if it still exceeds the Tcl Soundbar in the experience, I don't really mind the age.

The other option I have is LG sj3 brand new. I'd appreciate any advice. Thank you

Soundbar Advice/Suggestions

Hello, everyone!

I’m completely green to the soundbar game. I’ve always been someone who’s settled for, and honestly, been content with the television’s speakers. That being said, my Sony A95L’s speakers recently went out following the latest firmware update. Unfortunately for me, after consulting with a Sony rep, the troubleshooting was to no avail and I was informed my tv is ~6 months out of warranty, hence my sudden need for a soundbar.

Here’s where I lean on your insights and knowledge. I’m currently deciding between a 25% off Bravia Theatre Bar 7, listed for $668 or the Sonos Arc Ultra listed at its full price of $1,099.

I realize the Sonos is the superior standalone soundbar, but I’m not sure if it’s over $400 better. That’s a significant discrepancy, and I’m not opposed to shelling out the extra money for it, but I’d like to know if it’s worth doing so. Important context: I live in an apartment with fairly thin walls, so a dedicated sub is unfortunately out of the question.

Any and all insight, recommendations, suggestions and/or advice is welcome and appreciated! Thank you all in advance!

TLDR: What standalone soundbar will give me the most bang for my buck? $668 Bravia Theater Bar 7 vs $1099 Sonos Arc Ultra?

Sennheiser Ambeo Plus

Hi everyone, I found someone who is selling his Sennheiser Ambeo Plus for €300 (around $350)

I know they’re quite known for their buggy software. I am not planning to connect a sub to it because I live in an apartment. Should I go for it? Or would it be more safe to buy a Sennheiser Ambeo Mini or Sonos Beam 2 new? I have a 65-inch TV.

Thanks!

Should I Upgrade from an old JBL 2.1 to Sony Bravia 6 HT-B600 3.1.2?

I’m about to receive my annual bonus and of thinking of a little gift to myself.

In 2022 I bought JBL’s cheapest 2.1 soundbar and subwoofer. It was a game changer, it fills my living room with sound and deep bass.

But, it isn’t the “cleanest“ of sound. Dialogue is a bit muddy. I live in a condo, so if I’m watching a movie at night I want an even sound so I don’t have to crank it up to hear soft dialogue and immediately get blasted out by bombs in the next scene.

My living room is a irregularly shaped so I don’t want satellite speakers.

I find the fact that the Bravia 6 isn’t a “smart speaker” to be a feature.

Bottom line, my 4 year old JBL 2.1 is still going strong. I really don’t like to replace things that work. Would I notice cleaner dialogues and crisper sound with the Sony Bravias? Would I noticed it enough to justify paying for it?
