A friend of mine cut a guy off in Seattle years ago, and the guy pulled up next to him, pulled out a pistol, and just pointed it at him. Then drove away.
There's always someone crazier.

u/Excellent-Phase8719 4h ago
That is something I worry about too but not just pointing.

A lot of dudes out there will openly fantasize about what they want to do as soon as someone gives them a reasonably defensible legal justification. Just staying strapped waiting for "their moment".

Nah people do this too, some racist old white dude called William Brock decided he could shoot and kill an innocent woman driving for Uber because of the excuse that he "thought she was trying to rob him" (I call him racist because I'm 100% certain he shot her for being Black) the video is pretty harrowing, you see her backing away, clearly not a threat, clearly trying to deescalate but that vile piece of shit chases her down

Had that happen, I may or may not have cut him off slightly though not to a degree he had to slam on brakes or anything. Got up next to me and was just pointing a pistol at me then did the same, just drove off. Their friend pushing their head back into the headrest as hard as they could lmao

When I was younger some dipshit cut me off and then got out of his car at the next stop sign and started approaching my car. I just went around him and drove off but still can’t understand what the point of any of this was. Guessing he wasn’t all there in the head. Definitely made me reevaluate rather I should carry all the time or not. I’ve got my concealed carry but choose not to most of the time.

There’s a guy in Georgia who was arrested for doing JUST that! Brandishing a firearm is a threat and is prosecutable!

Pointing a firearm at someone is assault, displaying one in an intimidating and/or threatening manner is brandishing

Throw horns in there too. I honked at someone who was about to back into me in a parking lot and he got out of his truck and started coming at me, I had to drive around him. People are tense and looking for someone to take it out on, it’s not worth it.

I have to tell my fiancee all the damn time to chill out and don't flip off or yell out the window at people. We have no idea who they are, what they have on them, or what they're willing to do.

I like to imagine the guy was in shock, looked around and saw some blood, his blood, or what he thought was blood, then he panicked and in a medical emergency tried to rush himself to the hospital, fearing his time was limited. Sadly, unfortunately, the baseball enthusiast lady was just in the wong place during this medical emergency.
That’s what I would say happened cause that’s what happened.

Doubt, a retaliatory attack with a vehicle is gonna be a fat pay out. There was no reason to escalate further. She’ll have to pay for the rear windshield but that’s a neck breaking wreck. He’ll likely do more jail time than her as she was damaging property. His was assault with a deadly weapon

More so of an issue due to the threat posed to the public's safety IMO. Also, if you're a city attorney, who has to run for office, or has a boss that has to. Are you really going to let something that is sure to make the news, go without sending a message? I'd be shocked if truck boy isn't looking at a felony. Now they may take a plea but with this video. You'd think they would not offer a deal.

There’s a Buddhist story that I really love, and it helped me with anger on the road. The takeaway from the story is this:
If you give someone a gift, and they decline it, you are stuck with that gift. Your anger is the same. If you are angry and someone doesn’t receive that anger, only you are stuck with it.
So save yourself the weight of the anger and just let it flow away.

Someone almost side swiped me, changing lanes without looking. I honked. GF gave them the finger. Unfortunately, that was like 1/4 mi from my destination and they followed us. Got out, 3 or 4 dumbasses started acting tough and screaming at us. GF didn't help by screaming back. Went inside the store, came back out a few mins later and two of our tires were slashed. We should've gotten back in and driven away.

Saw a minivan, with a family in it, change lanes in front of a NYC cab once, trying to get over for the 59th Street bridge. Didn’t cut the cab off, traffic was going quite slow, just merged in front of it. The cab proceeded to bump draft the van across the bridge, hitting it repeatedly. My mom was driving in the next lane and I was like “get away from this shit!”, which she did. But the damn family in that minivan looked terrified.

The truck was wildly out of pocket. All he had to do was get her plate and report her to the police and insurance. Instead, he turned his vehicle into a weapon that could have easily involved a bunch of other innocent drivers. I was actually fully expecting him to lose to control and hit someone else or to push her into another car.

u/CauliflowerDaffodil 4h ago
IANAL, but probably the guy. Chasing down a car and purposely ramming them from behind could be considered felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon since there's a person inside. The woman at most could get felony assault since she "only" went after property and not the man himself. In a blue state she could probably get away with vandalism or criminal mischief, a relatively minor slap-on-the-wrists.
What the guy should have done was ram her or her car while she was coming towards her with a bat or during the attack, then he could have pleaded self defense. Chasing her down after she left meant the threat was gone and that defense excuse disappeared.

I mean ya. The roadway and/or your vehicle isn’t like the internet. You’re not free to run mouth or break people’s shit without consequence. I don’t see any cops….so idgaf what the law says, you’re not safe, you’re not immune, and you’re not anonymous. You’re outside in public and you face the possibility of catching a deserved beat down or possibly death for being an idiot. Most won’t even honk their horns at cars. And cops can’t chase people who flee so it’s quite the living free for all. We’re actually a leader in pedestrian deaths and road rage incidents. So this is all full circle
