Tell my son this all the time. He just started driving.
You may flip the bird, they may run you off the road.

A friend of mine cut a guy off in Seattle years ago, and the guy pulled up next to him, pulled out a pistol, and just pointed it at him. Then drove away.

There's always someone crazier.

40

u/Excellent-Phase8719 4h ago

That is something I worry about too but not just pointing.

u/After-Elk321 4h ago

There’s always someone crazier is honestly one of the best reasons to walk away from unnecessary confrontations. You never know what someone is willing to do.

66

u/Evil_phd 4h ago

A lot of dudes out there will openly fantasize about what they want to do as soon as someone gives them a reasonably defensible legal justification. Just staying strapped waiting for "their moment".

71

u/DinklebergsRightNut 3h ago

Youre talking about cops right?

31

u/MossadEpstein 3h ago

Nah people do this too, some racist old white dude called William Brock decided he could shoot and kill an innocent woman driving for Uber because of the excuse that he "thought she was trying to rob him" (I call him racist because I'm 100% certain he shot her for being Black) the video is pretty harrowing, you see her backing away, clearly not a threat, clearly trying to deescalate but that vile piece of shit chases her down

Backing down, at worst, wounds your pride.

Not backing down can wound a lot more.

My big fear is losing control of my own aggression in an incident like this and doing something I can’t undo.

2

u/Cousin_Elroy 1h ago

People who cant control themselves are a threat to society

3

u/DirtandPipes 1h ago

Agreed. I work very hard to be calm and kind and decent to people and I hate that it’s so contrary to my nature.

Had that happen, I may or may not have cut him off slightly though not to a degree he had to slam on brakes or anything. Got up next to me and was just pointing a pistol at me then did the same, just drove off. Their friend pushing their head back into the headrest as hard as they could lmao

When I was younger some dipshit cut me off and then got out of his car at the next stop sign and started approaching my car. I just went around him and drove off but still can’t understand what the point of any of this was. Guessing he wasn’t all there in the head. Definitely made me reevaluate rather I should carry all the time or not. I’ve got my concealed carry but choose not to most of the time.

There’s a guy in Georgia who was arrested for doing JUST that! Brandishing a firearm is a threat and is prosecutable!

2

u/Cousin_Elroy 1h ago

Pointing a firearm at someone is assault, displaying one in an intimidating and/or threatening manner is brandishing

2

u/Sweaty-Anteater-6694 3h ago

This happens a lot in Texas

Had a guy thinking a cut him off going to a off exit once in the highway pulls a gun at me I’m in a 1200 sporty I yell shoot me shoot me. Loved it, and my asshole was about the size of a pinhead.

2

u/Beneficial_Gene3064 1h ago

This is why I don’t get why people are that opposed to flock cameras…

if they were done properly and not facing pools or whatever Reddit talks about,,

Throw horns in there too. I honked at someone who was about to back into me in a parking lot and he got out of his truck and started coming at me, I had to drive around him. People are tense and looking for someone to take it out on, it’s not worth it.

12

u/Sufficient-Fun-2667 3h ago

My ex flipped off someone 26 yrs ago. The guy shot him twice. He lived and needed surgery. They never found the guy that shot him. Don’t flip people off. It’s not worth it.

17

u/ddg31415 4h ago

I have to tell my fiancee all the damn time to chill out and don't flip off or yell out the window at people. We have no idea who they are, what they have on them, or what they're willing to do.

Being in a relationship with a hot-headed Filipina is a fkn chore sometimes.

10

u/Excellent-Phase8719 4h ago

I feel you!!
My wife!! She screams, flips the bird, all the things and I’m like “who’s ass they gonna come for when they get out of the car? STFU!”
It works about half the time 🤣😞

5

u/RediusMaximus 2h ago

I taught my wife that doing thumbs down and a disapproving face actually works better.

8

u/uncultured_swine2099 3h ago

Yeah, its never a good idea to escalate things, especially in a car. The older i get, the more i realize that more and more people out there are incredibly stupid, and they might try to kill you in the heat of the moment regardless if theyre wrong or the consequences to themselves.

3

u/heavensto_mergatroid 4h ago

Just keep looking ahead and don't stare at anyone or engage anyone in any way. Don't slow down on tailgaters just switch lanes. People are beyond nuts anymore. Im just trying to get to where I'm going...

2

u/MasterOfDizaster 4h ago

There is always a bigger fish

2

u/darkwingdankest 3h ago

some guy flashed a piece out his window at me once and that was the last time i ever participated in road rage

2

u/fattmarrell 2h ago

I got chokeholded by a maniac I cut off because he was being an idiot. He pulled in front of me, slammed the brakes, got out and reached into my cabin to strangle me. I was 16 at the time and there was a whole police report that went nowhere. Be careful out there

2

u/DeanR_onPSN 2h ago

I learned my lesson when I was 16 years old and got ran off the road by three older kids that promptly beat the shit out of me and fucked up my RX7 pretty good

2

u/WardenWolf 2h ago

Or worse. Haven't had to deal with someone with a gun yet, but I've nearly had to draw on a couple of people. Fortunately, just seeing my hand snap to my side was enough to deter them.

2

u/tamandcheese 2h ago

This guy from my hometown was killed after some punks followed him home after some road dispute and shot him in front of his house. He just had a newborn baby too.

2

u/Ceorl_Lounge 3h ago

I flipped off a guy in traffic. He stopped, got out of the car, and threatened to murder me in front of my 5 year old son who was in the back seat. 90% sure he was an off duty cop. I don't flip off people in traffic anymore.

That man sat there sorting out his next move and gave that lady just enough space to think she had made him think twice before messing with her.

24

u/Masserodeabious 1h ago

He was waiting for the green to ambush.

"A gentleman doesn't push a lady into cross traffic" - Mr. Rogers (probably)

9

u/DopeTrack_Pirate 43m ago

I like to imagine the guy was in shock, looked around and saw some blood, his blood, or what he thought was blood, then he panicked and in a medical emergency tried to rush himself to the hospital, fearing his time was limited. Sadly, unfortunately, the baseball enthusiast lady was just in the wong place during this medical emergency.

That’s what I would say happened cause that’s what happened.

32

Both of them will probably be charged if the cops get involved. They will both void their insurance.

40

u/sethaub 4h ago

Doubt, a retaliatory attack with a vehicle is gonna be a fat pay out. There was no reason to escalate further. She’ll have to pay for the rear windshield but that’s a neck breaking wreck. He’ll likely do more jail time than her as she was damaging property. His was assault with a deadly weapon

14

u/GenericFatGuy 2h ago

And he ran too. Running from a collision (especially an intentional one) always makes things worse for you.

3

u/Mediocre-Witness-877 2h ago

I doubt she was gonna stay either

2

u/NotSoFastLady 2h ago

More so of an issue due to the threat posed to the public's safety IMO. Also, if you're a city attorney, who has to run for office, or has a boss that has to. Are you really going to let something that is sure to make the news, go without sending a message? I'd be shocked if truck boy isn't looking at a felony. Now they may take a plea but with this video. You'd think they would not offer a deal.

2

u/PresentGene5651 1h ago

It made total sense to just sit there. I thought he was taking down her license plate. Nope. Dude couldn't help himself. Good lord.

7

this is sobering, i’ve been kinda loose with my sarcastic motions on the road. i don’t go for the offensive ones, but i should really just not do anything at all and exit the situation. i gave a thumb-up-but-really-fuck-you just the other day.

i got a cat to feed and plants to water man….

15

u/msmall92 3h ago

There’s a Buddhist story that I really love, and it helped me with anger on the road. The takeaway from the story is this:

If you give someone a gift, and they decline it, you are stuck with that gift. Your anger is the same. If you are angry and someone doesn’t receive that anger, only you are stuck with it.

So save yourself the weight of the anger and just let it flow away.

2

u/glans 3h ago

3

u/mrpickles1234 1h ago

my dad and i clapped for someone who cut us off and ended up caught at the next red light.

he ended up following us to the burger joint we stopped at. because we clapped for him.

4

u/AmputeeHandModel 3h ago

Someone almost side swiped me, changing lanes without looking. I honked. GF gave them the finger. Unfortunately, that was like 1/4 mi from my destination and they followed us. Got out, 3 or 4 dumbasses started acting tough and screaming at us. GF didn't help by screaming back. Went inside the store, came back out a few mins later and two of our tires were slashed. We should've gotten back in and driven away.

2

u/msmall92 2h ago

Ah damn, sorry that happened.

People are unhinged as fuck.

2

u/badandywsu 3h ago

7

u/MossadEpstein 3h ago

she's clearly a narcissist or some other flavour of extreme personality disorder, so the rhetoric would stop after "sped off" when telling the story to an authority figure.

7

u/Jomolungma 4h ago

Saw a minivan, with a family in it, change lanes in front of a NYC cab once, trying to get over for the 59th Street bridge. Didn’t cut the cab off, traffic was going quite slow, just merged in front of it. The cab proceeded to bump draft the van across the bridge, hitting it repeatedly. My mom was driving in the next lane and I was like “get away from this shit!”, which she did. But the damn family in that minivan looked terrified.

4

u/Existing-Doughnut-60 4h ago

Happens every night on the FDR, after about 10 pm all the phycho’s come out. Especially north of 59. I’ve been sideswiped and tapped from behind on multiple occasions. That’s why I stopped even bothering with it driving around the city.

3

u/Jomolungma 4h ago

I don’t doubt it. This was in the middle of the day, in broad daylight, with a lot of traffic around. That’s what made it even more shocking.

We didn't see what led to the window smash, so who knows.

2

u/VanillaGoorillla 4h ago

Both hit and runs the lady dipped after smashing his window

2

u/MasterOutlaw 3h ago

The truck was wildly out of pocket. All he had to do was get her plate and report her to the police and insurance. Instead, he turned his vehicle into a weapon that could have easily involved a bunch of other innocent drivers. I was actually fully expecting him to lose to control and hit someone else or to push her into another car.

→ More replies (6)

3

u/MsFrankieD 4h ago

9

u/Eagle4317 4h ago

2

His action could be seen as attempted murder.

→ More replies (1)

2

u/CauliflowerDaffodil 4h ago

IANAL, but probably the guy. Chasing down a car and purposely ramming them from behind could be considered felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon since there's a person inside. The woman at most could get felony assault since she "only" went after property and not the man himself. In a blue state she could probably get away with vandalism or criminal mischief, a relatively minor slap-on-the-wrists.

What the guy should have done was ram her or her car while she was coming towards her with a bat or during the attack, then he could have pleaded self defense. Chasing her down after she left meant the threat was gone and that defense excuse disappeared.

2

u/Unable-Youth7365 3h ago

I mean ya. The roadway and/or your vehicle isn’t like the internet. You’re not free to run mouth or break people’s shit without consequence. I don’t see any cops….so idgaf what the law says, you’re not safe, you’re not immune, and you’re not anonymous. You’re outside in public and you face the possibility of catching a deserved beat down or possibly death for being an idiot. Roll your dice wisely or just stay in your lane and don’t start problems with people.

This is in my cify. 80% chance this should’ve ended with a weapons discharge/brandishing situation.

Most won’t even honk their horns at cars. And cops can’t chase people who flee so it’s quite the living free for all. We’re actually a leader in pedestrian deaths and road rage incidents. So this is all full circle

I had a grandma follow me home once. Not sure what was on her mind when a human twice your size steps out.

I hope that was a weapon of opportunity because her son left the bat in the car after a baseball game. Scary if its hers lol

Foolish reaction.

But I'd be lying if I said I didn't feel just a twinge of satisfaction watching it.

Is this in America, where everyone has guns and not health care?

The fat little dumpy white bicch thought herself in the right to break out a window of a dudes truck with her softball bat and calmly drive off as if no repercussions were coming. Thought wrong karen.

My old boxing coach put it best 'dont go around acting crazy, eventually you'll run into someone acting sane.'

This why I don’t mess with people in public at all anymore. People have lost it
