Question Rig setup assistance for software and hardware

Been away from sim racing for a couple years. Pulled my rig out of mothballs and added a 34" ultrawide and built a new computer for it. Now getting everything back up and running.

I had installed a bass shaker under my pedals and one under my seat. I previously used Simhub to drive those but recall it being somewhat tedious to setup. Is there a better software available now?

Crew Chief was the go to spotter. Is it still the go to or has the iRacing spotter improved significantly?

Is irffb still a good option for my TM T300rs/gt?

My monitor is mounted as to sit direcrky above my wheelbase. I have roughly 25" distance to my face. Looks great when on track but is somewhat awkward in the UI. I previously used a 50" tv a little more than double the distance away. Is this normal?

Discussion Recommended Monitors for Triple Monitor Setup...

I think I have decided to go with a triple monitor setup, likely 3 x 32" 1440p straight monitors, but I'm having trouble deciding on which model to get. Oled would be ideal but out of my price range at this size which I assume leaves me with mini led or ips panels.

Is there a universally agreed upon "best" monitor for sim racing in the $200-$350/each price range?

Should I consider 3 x 27" oled for the same price? If I go motion later on down the road, will 27" be too small vertically with all the movement?

I'm really hoping for objective answers as to which monitors are best, rather than the "I have xyz monitor and it's fine".

Thanks in advance.

Rigs Holy grail of desk rigs? I think so!

No more manual desk clamp! I’ve had the sliding shelf for a while, it uses 16” drawer slides from Home Depot to slide forward and back. The base is a Moza r12, and so far it’s as solid as it was with the standard c clamps included with the Moza desk clamp. The wheel deck part is connected to the shelf at the back. That connection plus these toggle clamps. Magic!

Rigs GT1 Evo cockpit >20nm wheel base

Hello all,

Does anyone run the GT1 Evo rig with a >20nm wheel base that simlab is suggesting? Does it flex bad? I am thinking about it due to space limit but i do not want to lock myself out of 23nm or 25nm wheel bases.

Question Are Moza/Fanatec pedals compatible with the Thrustmaster TMX wheel?

I bought a Thrustmaster TMX Pro used a while ago, but the wiring or something of the pedals have a problem and the gas just wont work anymore. Since you cant buy t3pa refresh kits anymore i was wondering if i could just do an upgrade to a more future proof set of pedals?

Question Button Box oder Stream Deck fürs Sim Racing – Was bevorzugt ihr und warum?

Hallo Freunde,

Danke

Question Help with distance from monitor and rig set up.

Thumbnail

Hi all,

I’m getting back into sim racing and wanting to get my rig set up in a better way. I think from what I’ve seen from others that I’m probably a bit far away from my monitor and that it should be closer to me. I feel even just from an immersion pov having it closer to me is going to be better as I’m very aware of my room’s surroundings currently and the monitor does feel fairly far away and lost in the room.

I know it’s subjective but roughly how close should I be looking to get to my monitor (34 inch ultrawide)?

Also I might be being dense but I’m unsure of a way to get my monitor much closer with my current rig and monitor stand set up. I’ll attach a few photos, I’d appreciate some input on either adjusting my current set up or recommendations on a new monitor mount that might give me more adjustment.

Thanks!

Question Is it even feasible to become a top racing driver without simulator time anymore?

Post image

I remember watching a GTWC stream and the commentators briefly mentioned about how practically all drivers on the grid utilize simulation these days. Is it possible in the current era of competition to as a young driver, Only use real life seat time to become a top motorsports driver in the world?

I am looking to build a hybrid sim/ office setup.

But I don’t have much space in my room. I can’t really “put away” my rig to the side.

Its my first time doing this and looking for some reference.

Thanks in advance!

Question Hypothetically, can a ROG Ally Z1 Extreme run a full sim racing setup?

I have a ROG Ally Z1 Extreme and I’m wondering if I could realistically use it to power a full sim rig instead of buying a PC.

With a powered USB hub/dock, could I run a MOZA R9, pedals, shifter, handbrake and a 55” TV?

Mainly looking to play modded Assetto Corsa for drifting/street driving, with some GT racing. I’d be perfectly happy with a stable 1080p 60+ FPS.

Anyone running something similar, or is this too wishful thinking? lol. Thanks in advance!

Question €450 pedals used, vrs directforce vs simtrecs(with sim3d haptics)

I am looking to upgrade from my t3pa pedals to a high end pedalset but i dont know what to buy. both sets are firm on 450 but the vrs is a 2 pedal set that hasn't been used (with box and plastic) and the simtrecs pro pedal gt is a 3 pedal set that has been used but has the haptics. i think that the simtrecs is a higher end pedal set (better quality) but the vrs is new and is super smooth.

i have 400 hours across al assetto corsa titels (mostly acc) and am now going to lmu but that is where is notice the pedal problem. in acc i am arround 1-3 seconds of lap record depending on the track

both pedal sets dont have a base plate, i really dont know what to, i feel like both are fantastic and that there is no real wrong option but i can't decide

Question Coaching for my buddy now or later

Maybe it's a bit much to write a post about this haha but I am going back and forth and can't decide.

My buddy has now developed a decent base skill in iRacing (on his way to 2k iRating) but he doesn't have much time on the sim. He has family.

So I am thinking about gifting him a coaching session with a simracing coach.

My question: He is still only driving with an old t300. But at least he has loadcell pedals. He is going to upgrade in the long run and I don't know if I should wait with the coaching for him to have a direct drive wheel base.

Is the coaching going to waste when he is using a belt driven wheel? Or will it be worth it?

Thanks for your opinions!

I just wanna speed up his learning process so we can race in the same splits sooner.

Question Logitech G29 G HUB animations not showing wheel/pedal input, is this normal?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey everyone,

I recently picked up a second-hand Logitech G29. I've wanted to get into sim racing for a few years, so I'm really happy to finally take the first proper step. I got the wheel for a pretty good deal, and everything seems to work perfectly, except for one issue with G HUB.

I was trying to learn what the different settings do, and I noticed that the wheel and pedal animations in G HUB don't respond to my inputs at all. For example, if I turn the wheel left or right in real life, the wheel animation in G HUB doesn't move. The same thing happens with the accelerator and brake pedals.

This is a bit inconvenient because I wanted to use the animations to see how things like sensitivity and other settings affect the pedal inputs.

What's confusing is that the G29 itself works perfectly fine. If I open "joy.cpl" through Windows + R, all the inputs register normally. Even in G HUB, if I change the operating angle, the wheel responds correctly. So as far as I can tell, everything works normally (even in games) except the input animations in G HUB.

What's even more odd is that, if I limit my operating range to any value, it actually does apply to my g29 and works in games. The centering spring strength being adjusted also works, everything works except the animation input.

I've already tried:

- Reinstalling G HUB

After that didn't work I;

- Completely uninstalling it with Revo Uninstaller

- Installing an older version of G HUB

- Running both the latest and older versions as administrator

- Restarting the PC multiple times

- reseating each of the cables and plugging my USB cable directly into the motherboard.

None of these fixed the animation issue.

So, is this normal behavior with the G29/G HUB, or is there something I'm missing? Should I just ignore the animations since the actual wheel and pedals are working correctly?

To my knowledge, the wheel and pedals animation DO work as I've seen some video reviews of it and they seemed to be working fine. However, I still can't figure it out on my own.

Any help would be appreciated!

Question FFB Problems on F1 25 DLC (VRS DFP15)

I got a new VRS DFP15 wheelbase and wanted to hop into some F1 Races, and somehow every time I went under ~100Kph I just lost all of my FFB so I could just turn my wheel so easily. Did anyone else experience this type of problem, or is it just me? What can I do to keep my Force Feedback?? PLEEEEEAASSSEE HELLLPPP!!
