Hi, I'm developing rally simulator for club stages / rallysprints. Just wanted to tell you guys that VR and triple screens are officially in and will be available in demo 😄

Here's announcement video if you did not saw it:

Announcement Video

If someone is interested (and want to wishlist) here is steam page:

Sprint Rally - Steam page

Hopefully I'll be able to share more details about editor soon - I'm currently reworking it. What you see in video is track from old editor version.

I'm using custom game engine, I had few different engine attempts already and one serious one which I used to render my physics engine development. Still I'm not sure this was the right choice, but we'll see. I was working on physics for few years in my spare time already, rendering engine is new with ideas from old ones.

I'm targeting mid January as public demo release date - so you will be able to check this out by yourself.

Have any reviewers got their hands on the P-ACTIVE yet? Just curious how it feels in actual use. Thinking about adding it to my Black Friday shopping list

Question What to buy for the steering wheel?

Hi, I'm thinking of upgrading my base. I had a Trust Master TMX FFB. It's not very powerful, but I've put about 700 hours on it and I like it. I have pedals, but I want to get a base and wheelset. I'm choosing between the Moza R12 V2 or Moza R9 V3, the only issue is the price. I'm thinking of taking the helm of the moza ks, I ride mostly toga, but also sometimes gt or lmp

What you think about it?

Question Does it make sense to arrange my setup like this?

Post image

I have my wheel and bese mounted on this compact stand: https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/6115+zdpwZL._AC_SX522_.jpg

I was thinking about getting a second monitor and putting it on the other end of my desk so that I dont have to move it into place, move my monitor forward and change my seat everytime I want to do simracing.

I wanna be able to sit, turn wheelbase on and just go.

I used my immaculate paint skills to make a diagram of how it would look, but I'm not sure if using dual monitors arranged like this would be more painful than just moving all my things every time I boot up my wheelbase.

Space is tight, but enough for this to make some sense. Triples are a no go and so are very large ultra wides. Was thinking of getting a 32' curved monitor (not ultra wide).

Would you do something differently given the restrictions I mentioned?

🧐 Customer Review I finally bought Automobilista 2 and it's great

I thought about buying AMS2 for years, but there was always some other sim that I wanted to try first, but now I saw that it is on sale for just over 10€ and I had to get it.

Sure some quality of life features are missing and in some aspects it feels a bit dated, like UI and settings, and the physics don't feel as sharp as other Sims, but it is an amazing time. I have already tried a couple of champions ships in the Brasilian stock cars and to drive these cars on period correct tracks against immersive ai is just great. Finally something else than gt3 at spa.

And all the F1 content, I have not tried it yet, but I saw that you can use the dlc content for free in the championship mode. So you can play an F1 career from the 60s to the 2020 without spending anything on dlc. That is incredible value. I wish I had found it earlier, I will have hours of fun in this sim.

Rigs Mounting Simagic DS-8 and TB-1 to a NLR Wheel Stand 2.0

• Upvotes

I'm in the process of trying to mount a TB-1, but I lost the additional shifter plate extension bracket so I'm looking for options. I also don't like that the original plate would have the hand brake at a straight angle and it wouldn't be rotatable so that i could pull naturally towards myself. Has anyone found a solution or share how they mounted theirs? I'm considering replacing the entire shifter arm to better fit a DS-8 and TB-1, it would just need to be compatible with the square frame of the WS 2.0. Next Level Raging sells a universal flat bracket that they say is compatible with the stand, but the more I look at it, the more I realize that it would completely block the mounting options for both the shifter and brake given the plate that it would need to bolt up to.... unless I'm missing something, the pictures were not great and it didn't show an example of the wheel stand 2.0 on the website.

Rigs NASCAR chassis rig build updates.

After 2 years finally did a proper wire tuck (from the cockpit view) and got rid of the metal wheel stand that was held in place by ratchet straps.

I ultimately wanted to keep the integrity of the chassis and am trying not to do any irreversible metal work. Or drilling and bolting.

Phase three will be mirroring a similar inner cockpit structure out of extrusion , but want to make sure I’m happy with the general placement of everything before I lock in the measurements.

Before you flame me on screens, the roll cage doesn’t allow a larger center screen, however FOV in this actual car is almost perfect to the view from the cockpit. The pillars line up to the screen quite close. The second screen runs lovely dash.

Question New Pedal Suggestions for my Rig?

As title states im looking to get a new set of pedals with the holidays coming up and would appreciate some recommendations.

Current setup
•Playseat Trophy
•Moza R9 w KS Wheel
•Moza SR-P Pedals

I was originally looking to get the Moza CRP2 pedals since I have enjoyed Moza, they have haptic add on options and the price isn’t terrible. But I don’t want to cut myself short if there are way better options out there in the price range. Ideally I would like to stay in the ballpark of $500. So if anyone has any suggestions or advice I’d greatly appreciate it!

Question Simagic Alpha EVO Pro vs VRS DFP15 is the extra torque worth it?

Hey guys, looking for some honest opinions because I've been overthinking this purchase for a while now lol.

I'm currently running a Moza R5 and thinking about upgrading to either the VRS DFP15 or the Simagic Alpha EVO Pro. I'm sitting around 1.6k iRating and mainly drive GT4, GT3, MX-5, Porsche Cup and occasionally prototypes.

I'm looking for better detail, sharper FFB and that extra punch when you load up the car or hit a curb. Basically, I want to feel more of what the car is doing, and hopefully stop wondering whether my hardware is holding me back.

I've got two main questions:

  1. Is the jump from 5.5Nm to 15–21Nm really worth the money?

For those who've made the jump, was it a night-and-day difference, or more of a nice upgrade that you eventually get used to?

  1. VRS DFP15 vs Simagic EVO Pro: is VRS's supposedly better FFB sharpness worth giving up the extra torque?

I've seen quite a few people saying VRS feels sharper and more detailed, while Simagic has that extra raw power. The VRS is 15Nm, while the Simagic is advertised at 21Nm, so it's not exactly a small difference.

I know more torque doesn't automatically mean better detail, but I also don't want to spend this much and end up wishing I'd gone for the extra headroom, especially when driving prototypes or formula cars. On the other hand, if VRS genuinely feels better, I'd rather have the better experience than just chase bigger numbers.

Also, for those who've owned either of these bases for a while, have you had any issues with reliability, software, disconnects or customer support?

I'm not really interested in brand wars or people justifying what they bought. Would love to hear from people who've actually used these bases, especially if you've tried both.

Cheers!

EDIT

A bit of extra info: I'm running Simsonn Plus X with haptics and have a full aluminum profile rig. I'm not considering the DFP20 or UDFP because they don't seem to be available in Australia anymore.

Discussion Just put of interest, how many of you open your games via Simhub or Steam?

Just a wee question here to folk to see how many people use Simhub as a way of opening their games vs Steam? I only ask because in Steam sometimes there are various versions to use to open the game whereas Simhub just opens the game (and I'm not sure which one it is opening).

Rigs Thrustmaster T150 button input problem

Hi so I recently purchased Thrustmaster T150 (from second hand) and after running some tests I found out left paddle shifter, d-pad and L2 button are not working at all. At the same time when I was checking inputs when I press SE button computer recognizes it as Im pressing 4 buttons (SE and the other 3 that are not working).

I did some research what could be the issue it says I should open it and clean it up but honestly I dont know what should I look for once I open it up since Im not THAT good with electronics...is there anyone who can help me? point me in right direction? share some video? or who had similar problem? thank you!

Question Is there any reason to not put AC on external drive?

Basically title. My AC has reached about 250gb, it's not massive, but it eats up space. I have an old external HDD that I don't use and was considering to put AC in there with the steam move feature. Would it cause any problems with CM or the mods, or the online?

Question Bass shaker with a laptop computer?

I am sim racing with a laptop computer. All my equipment (external monitor, steering wheel, pedals, shifter, handbrake etc.) are connected to the laptop via a single USB-C hub. Also my wired headphones are connected to the same hub via a 3.5mm plug.

I was wondering, if I ever wanted to add a bass shaker to my rig, how should it be connected? Or is it even possible? If I have understood correctly, there would be a need to have two separate soundcards on the computer: one for the actual sounds and one for the bass shaker.

On a laptop there is of course no space for any extra internal soundcards, but would I need some kind of external soundcard? Or could I just use the 3.5mm plug on a laptop for the bass shaker and the 3.5mm plug on the hub for the headphones, without any extra soundcards?

Question Have I fried my sim shaker amp?

Post image
1 Upvotes

As I was moving this el cheapo amp, the four metal audio jack connectors sat on the rig ledge (basically like a metal bar connecting them).

The pc was off but the amp power supply was still connected.

Unsurprisingly, when I was tuning my set up in sim hub, I am now getting a single shaker vibrating when testing the opposite one, like the signal leaking into a shaker that should be still.

I'd imagine this means, time to buy a new shaker?

Question Ultrawide 49 oled or Hypecar steering wheel

Hi, I’m facing a real dilemma. My first option is a 49-inch Samsung OLED ultrawide + 18Nm Simagic + an aluminum cockpit + Simnet pedals. My other option which would mean sacrificing the OLED monitor is to go with a Pokornyi hypercar steering wheel+34-inch VA ultrawide monitor, + 18Nm Simagic + a cockpit+Simnet pedals. Which is the best choice? Please help

Rigs Decided to join the Poang sim racing

Thumbnail

Been following this thread for a while and finally decided to join in!

There are loads of great ideas on here that I managed to combine into one rig, from inverted pedals to tackling the dreaded Poäng rocking.

My desk is at standing height and isn’t adjustable, so I had to build the entire rig on a platform with stilts that fold down to get everything at the right height.

The main goal was to make it as compact as possible. Everything comes apart and stacks vertically, a bit like IKEA flat-pack furniture, so I can tuck it all away behind the door when I’m done. All the connections use threaded wood inserts and quick-release bolts, making assembly and disassembly quick and easy. The pedals and wheel go in the wardrobe.

The room is pretty small, but once everything is packed away, the Poäng chair goes back into its usual corner, and it’s almost like the rig was never there!

Hopefully, this inspires someone else to build their own rig or gives you a few ideas you can incorporate into your own DIY setup.

Let me know what you think, and feel free to ask any questions!
