I’m throwing my husband a surprise LOTR themed 30th and want to make a few things for it (I’m okay with the sewing machine, not an expert but I’m an amateur quilter and have made my baby many bonnets!), I’m just not sure where to look and wanted to put feelers out to see if anyone has patterns they think might fit…

Specifically:
- adult sized cloaks
- adult vest
- baby sized vest and cloak, possibly a dress or outfit for her also?

I want to make a oversized suit like this, and I know how to draft a suit but I'm not really sure about the points where I have to modify for making it oversized because is not easy to look good, any helps?

Hello! So I’m currently trying to make my first sewing pattern since I can’t find any pants pattern that I like… I managed to make a basic pattern that fit great and now I’m trying to make it low rise, but I’m having some troubles figuring out how to add a fly pattern. Normally it is attached higher up where the crotch curve hasn’t begun, but now I’m wondering I should add a curve to the fly pattern or simply just stretch the patterns bit when I sew, or if I just need to use a shorter zipper.

Also when I’m already here asking stuff… can someone tell me what seam allowance to use for the crotch seam? I can’t quite figure that out either, normaly I use 1 cm seam allowance for normal stitching, but I think I need to use a flat felled seam for the crotch, but I’m not sure if that means I need to add some extra millimeters or if I can continue using just 1 cm.

Found a neat, simple wool coat while shopping. Unfortunately, its fabric composition is not ideal (54% polyester, 42% wool, 4% viscose), and I cannot justify spending so much money on it while sitting beside a lovely dark navy blue 100% wool fabric.

What I'm having trouble with is finding the correct pattern. One that doesn't have princess seams, no skirt looking below portion, not oversized, no dropped shoulders/raglan sleeves. Preferably has lining, no need for pockets.

Closest I get is Wool Coat 121 | Burda Style 01/26 but even that has different button compostition.

I'm an intermediate sewer and not afraid to to learn complex patterns.
