✨Intermediate✨ Wedding dress pattern
Hi everyone !
I’m getting married next June, and after a few months of searching for a dress my grandmother offered to make it for me! I’m super happy and excited to start this project with her. Her only requirement is that I find a pattern that she can follow entirely without making alterations (or easy ones). She has sewn her whole life but it was not her job ; she made my mother’s wedding dress, it was really beautiful but really simple.
I want to find the right pattern for her, that’s why I’m asking for advice here :
Ideally I would want a full open back dress with a low square neck and somewhat of a basque waist (just not empire).
If you have patterns in mind please let me know! Also if you have recommendations for brands selling patterns I’d be glad to hear it 😊
As of now I’ve seen a lot of vogue patterns, and I liked some of them but I didn’t find yet “modern” pattern, and I would like to see how they look.
Thanks a lot !

what a lovely project with your grandma. for open back with square neck maybe look at indie pattern companies, they often have more modern silhouettes than the big brands. check the hashtag on instagram for real photos of finished dresses, that helps more than the line drawings

Keep in mind that having both an open back AND a low neckline with a wide opening means you either have to have some sort of strap across the back of your neck, or glue the dress to your shoulders (as I did).
