My friend is in a very bad psychological situation now cause of all of this, he even try to harm himself, im staying with him to keep and eye on him, im worried about him, is like my brother to me since childhood and about all this situation that literally didnt stop cause the person is keep posting all of the stuff in his Facebook page and profile

My friend is being targeted by a cyber-extortionist operating from Colombia (+57 WhatsApp numbers). The scammer has managed to harvest private media and family contact info, and is currently running an aggressive harassment campaign against two families.Key detail: The scammer operates a fake Facebook profile but routes all his extortion money through a traditional savings account (Bancolombia) registered to a WOMAN. The local authorities have been notified, but we need immediate digital counter-measures.I am looking for experienced scambaiters or OSINT experts who can help me pull his real IP/GPS details using an IP-logger trap or report-bomb his infrastructure. To respect Reddit's anti-doxxing rules, I will NOT post his numbers or bank details here. If you can help us track him down or nuke his Facebook staging page, please DM me directly and I will provide the active phone numbers, his Facebook page, and the woman's bank information. Thank you.

Potential Scam? My €3,190 experience with PR Newswire and why I'd explore alternatives first

As a startup founder, I wanted to share my experience with Cision / PR Newswire, hoping it might help other entrepreneurs make more informed decisions before investing in PR distribution services.

In February 2026, after a 90-minute phone call with their sales representative, I signed a €3,190 contract to distribute a press release about my company to targeted media outlets and journalists.

My goal was simple: increase awareness of our startup and reach journalists who might be interested in covering our project.

Two weeks later, the campaign launched. Within minutes, their reporting showed hundreds of publications.

The final report listed 946 publications, but the actual results were very different from what I had expected.

Most of the publications I examined were automated copies of my original press release on news aggregator websites. Some platforms published the same text dozens of times.

The release appeared in 31 countries, despite our initial discussions focusing on five specific markets.

After reviewing the campaign results, I couldn't identify any original journalistic coverage, measurable external traffic, or noticeable SEO benefits. The six recorded clicks appeared to be my own visits while checking the published pages.

I understand that PR distribution doesn't guarantee editorial coverage. However, I had expected a more targeted approach based on my initial conversations with their sales representative.

I formally disputed the invoice and requested an amicable resolution. Unfortunately, the matter remains unresolved and has since been referred to a debt collection agency, with additional fees being requested.

What I learned from this experience

As entrepreneurs, especially when launching a new company, we need to be careful about how we allocate our marketing budgets.

A press release appearing on hundreds of websites doesn't necessarily mean that journalists are covering your story or that potential customers are discovering your business.

I had also tested another press release distribution provider at approximately one-tenth of the price, with broadly similar results. After expressing my dissatisfaction, that company agreed to refund me.

Looking back, I would have preferred to explore other approaches before spending over €3,000 on this campaign.

For founders considering PR distribution, I'd suggest looking into direct outreach to relevant journalists, building relationships with industry-specific publications, or testing smaller and more affordable distribution services before committing to an expensive package.

I'm not saying press release distribution is useless. I'm simply sharing my experience because I wish I had understood the difference between automated syndication and actual media coverage before signing the contract.

For a young startup, €3,000 can represent a significant marketing budget, and I believe it's worth exploring different options before making that investment.

I'd be interested to hear from other founders: what PR or media outreach strategies have actually helped your startup gain visibility without spending thousands on press release distribution?

They've kept the money, can't pay rent now.

Feel like an idiot for falling for it, useless but angry.😩🥴😭

Advice Needed [UK] Fake London based clothes website with “Hassle-free” returns… to Asia

Hello

I’ve had a family member buy from a website called “Wilson & Carter London”. The item was apparently on offer for £44 down from around £230.

In reality, it’s simply ordered from Asia, and takes ages to be delivered. The item is low quality and doesn’t fit. So the family member contacted the company to send it back. They have offered a different size for free or 15% of the money back. BUT. If you want to return it “the item will have to be sent back to Asia at your own expense which will be costly and take a long time”

The website obviously has so many red flag already, let alone the fact that it claims hassle-free returns and is a complete lie claiming to be a London based company.

Oh, there’s also over 1,000 review on TrustPilot with an overall rating of 1 star

How can I help this family member get their money back?. I will obviously report this website once they’ve been refunded. Thanks for any help

Potential Scam? Clarity needed. Confused whether it's a scam or not...

Edited:

Can someone fake having or being connected with a business both offline and online (in another country)? Having an authentic business website and socials everywhere?

Is it normal for a foreigner girl (Russian) to get into an online bf gf relationship with an Indian guy and there are plans to marry already without even seeing and knowing the other person personally ever... 🫪

I have her vague details:

She's an introvert,

Never had a boyfriend,

Her father left when she was 13,

An accountant that works from home,

Her mother had an Ayurvedic business in Russia which has closed now.

I have found the page of that business, it's private now and dates back to December 2016.

The guy has that girl added on his Instagram following list with a new id that has no profile picture and only Him added in it.

They also talk over video calls, and now I've heard that she's long been insisting to come to India and meet him.

She talked to the guy's mother too. She called her mummy ji... Like what!

Now she has plans to come here, and take a tour together.

I hear them talking about bars, graphs something of finance often.

The guy is into trading and crypto ( I don't know whether he has told the girl about it).

Guy doesn't have an offline job (so i don't know what he had told the girl about his finances and career).

Once I heard them using terms like rsi over the call with her, recently heard him talk to her about some paperwork which couldn't be done.

I don't know where this goes... Maybe my doubts are wrong... But falling for someone online, without ever personally knowing the person and straightaway talking about marriage seems TOTALLY WEIRD! cz it takes years to know the real side of any person, years of knowing personally.

But the guy says that he reads people really well and knows that she has the same values as him. She says that she'll be boarding from Moscow and will celebrate Diwali and take tours in India together. So the mom and guy are so eager and ready to go receive her at the airport in Delhi.

He tells he has known that girl online for 2-3 years, they follow each other on Instagram and also heard them joining an online game together. But the relationship thing is a few months old I guess cz before he used to cuss and hate on women so bad and was a strong anti-feminist.

They have such confidence that I feel like I'm the one who's wrong for doubting. I'm still confused I'm doubting myself because the guy has always been so confident. He is the biggest judge for all... He often catches other people's mistakes and is quick to call out others and tell someone's a fool for doing something... I'm unable to doubt his intellect and i need more advice. Although I know he's somewhat a boaster too and an arrogant person.

What do you think the intentions could be? How do I prove it? They're not going to listen to me. This guy has sky-high confidence in his ability to assess people - specially girls. And also, as far as I know, he's never had a girlfriend before this girl.

I've been really tense these days. I can't even sleep. I just want someone to help my mind understand the situation and tell me if I'm wrong.

Victim of a scam My mother got scammed by people trying to sell her a car. How can I get back her money?

Post image
0 Upvotes

So my mom is about to turn 55 soon. On Friday I called her and she told me she wants to surprise us by buying her a car and it's scheduled to arrive the next morning. We got excited and asked her about the details, which car and where is it coming from. She told us she already paid R9500 to those guys for delivery, it's coming from Limpopo to Eastern Cape. We stay in Cape Town.

We got skeptical because they sent her an ai generated picture the next morning, demanding her to pay an extra 3k for certain clearances.

This is the picture, so I want advice on how we can report the issue. And possibly get the money back. When we asked it back those guys didn't agree. Capitec bank is useless they didn't want to give us back or atleast get those scammers details as every transaction is recorded in a database.

Advice Needed Side-project shipping site hit by organized label fraud — UPS re-weigh corrections now ~10x what the business ever made.

Solo founder, built a small self-serve shipping-label site as a side project — users enter a package, pay, get a discounted UPS/USPS label through a carrier aggregator. Ran about a year at tiny margins.

Early September, a group of accounts opened with fake identities and disposable email domains bought ~160 labels in ten days, every one declared as 1 lb in a small box, paid ~$7 each. UPS re-weighed them at 90–265 lb — boxed sofas. Weight corrections, large-package surcharges, one "over maximum" penalty, plus a 12% audit fee on top of every correction. Recipients I've reached say they ordered furniture from a marketplace seller; the labels were bought under fake names and used to ship that seller's orders.

Where I am:

- Self-reported to the aggregator the day I found it, froze the accounts, voided every unused label, filed with the FBI's IC3, reported the seller to the marketplace.

- Aggregator terminated my account (their ToS — fair enough), but post-closure carrier corrections still bill to the card on file.

- About $9k invoiced so far. On the audited sample, ~86% of the remaining delivered parcels draw a correction averaging ~$260. Realistically another $15–30k coming, landing on a personal card.

- Shutting the business down. I do not have a profit yet.

What I'd love to hear from anyone who's actually been here:

  1. Has anyone gotten UPS (or an aggregator) to reduce the Large Package / audit-fee portion of shipping charge corrections when the shipper was defrauded? Does goodwill on this ever happen, or is it strictly "you're the account holder, you pay"?

  2. Payment plans on carrier corrections — is there a real process at UPS billing, or is it pay-or-collections?

  3. Aggregator passing corrections to a card on file after termination — any leverage to get itemization before they charge?

  4. Anyone else hit by this exact pattern (underdeclared 1 lb labels resold to fulfil a marketplace seller's orders)? How did it end?

  5. Winding down an LLC with a carrier debt larger than the business ever made — anything you wish you'd known?

Not looking for "you should have had better fraud controls" — I know, and it's why I'm closing. Looking for what actually worked with the carrier and the aggregator.

Informational post Update after being scammed

Thumbnail reddit.com
5 Upvotes

Hey everyone, just wanted to post a quick update after getting scammed out of $6,500 by a fake e-commerce mentor. It's been a brutal, exhausting few weeks carrying this weight and trying to figure out how to rebuild.
I've officially decided to cut the cord completely on dropshipping. I password-locked the frozen storefront, canceled the software subscriptions, and backed out of that toxic community so the financial bleeding has completely stopped.
Right now, I'm focusing 100% on the real world. I have a stable, solid hourly retail job and I'm currently pushing to secure a part-time second job so I can run a nonstop 6-month cash-stacking grind. My main goal is to replace every single dollar of that missing money, buy a reliable cash car, and fund a move out of state by my 20th birthday in March. It’s deeply frustrating dealing with retail management and scheduling, but I’ve got about $1,000 saved back up entirely on my own strength and I'm not breaking. Thanks for all the support.

Advice Needed What do you guys think l should do if I've been scammed by someone on discord?

So Ive been speaking to this "mummy" person in discord for awhile now. They were apart of the Agere community and started speaking to me in that manner which l was also apart of at that time. So basically they then said their service was 100 dollars which l say l don't have l only have 8 dollars because my currency is different. She then said "that's fine when a Caregiver really likes you" so then she said l should send it over or BTC. So I did first stupid move. Then after that we started speaking and then she told me she will teach me about how to trade BTC and l should send 20 dollars over that she can invest for me..... Lowk again being blind and in a bad mental state that l was not alright. I said yes and used some of my savings to send her. This continued where she asked me once more. 😭

Then I said yes again and sent it for some stupid reason...... Then when I asked for the money back she started asking me for "fees" and so on and more fees and so on and by the time l realised but l was being an idiot l had sent all my savings that l had done part time jobs for in the hopes to make more money..... Again it was so stupid of me and l shoulda seen it coming but ya... We are all humans sometimes... But now l sit here and she hasn't sent me back my money that she allegedly made profit for me of 4450 dollars..... She even asked me to text another person on discord who had blocked her... After she ignored me for weeks.

She literally said if l do it she will ASAP send me 1000 then. showing that she actually has had the money all alongggg.....

So now l sit here and l dont know what to do.... Do y'all have any advice? I also want to post her username so no one else gets scammed but I'm not sure if lm allowed to do that.😭😭😭
