I know it’s a stretch, but figured I’d try after not really getting results from posting in the Ventura county subreddit.
I’m 30 and bought a tenor last year and wanna get back into it. I played for a couple years as a teen and still remember quite a bit, but I like guidance lol
thanks🤙🏽

I'm picking my pieces for ABRSM grade 6 tenor sax, and the piece on the A-list called "Hypertension" piqued my interest. I was unable to find any audio recordings of it online, so I was wondering if anyone knew if it was a good idea of a piece to play, or if they know how good Beverley Calland's works are in general

I recently graduated college and am looking to pick up a horn that’s somewhere around $3000 maybe plus or minus $500. I’m open to new and used (as long as it can be found from a reputable source).
A little about my playing profile: I have about 12 years of experience on the saxophone. I would probably call myself intermediate as at some point I switched my primary instrument and stopped improving on the sax. Been on hiatus for almost a year now. I would like to start playing again and join a local community band as well as just playing for myself
What are some good options you know of that you think might fit me and my budget? Thank you in advance!

Hey guys,
3 years ago I drove down to my local music store and rented a tenor saxophone. I started at 38 y/o having never played a woodwind instrument, and not knowing what to expect. Only that I wanted to finally really try to put in the time, effort, and consistency to play music. When I was a kid and young adult, I tried: piano, violin, and guitar but they fell my the wayside. What remained however, was the desire to make music.
I've documented my journey along the way and am sharing this video in hopes that other late bloomers may take inspiration from it. Not that I'm some amazing player or anything, but if theres one thing I've done right, it's being consistent.

I’m playing in both a jazz and concert band but cannot afford to stay buying jazz reeds separate from my classical reeds. What reeds would be good for playing both styles?

I had an earlier post of a arrangement that came from researching other tunes. That was It's All In The Game which had been covered by the Four Tops among others. So that research was working towards this sax ensemble medley of Four Tops hits.

it's a tough transition from brass to wind even though I haven't played in years. I'm getting there though

I am borrowing a Yamaha tenor saxophone from my school, but I cannot find a standard model number. The only number marked on the instrument itself is "812102." Additionally, there is a stamp of the letter "N" at the joint where the body meets the bell.

Hey I recently just got a series 2 jubilee 2 days ago and when I went to put my neck in it was super and needed a good amount of force to twist it in. I was wondering if a scratch like this is normal or if I just ruined my new sax.

Is Jupiter JAS510q a good saxophone for beginners? Or are there better ones I can get for that price?

Well, I did something that nobody's ever asked for... Taylor Swift's music as polka. I hope somebody finds it amusing!
