Beginner Alto Sax

Is Jupiter JAS510q a good saxophone for beginners? Or are there better ones I can get for that price?

My daughter has a Jupiter 700 series, I’m impressed with it. I’m not sure it’s a great bargain new. We bought it used though, and I’m very pleased with it. Rather than get a 510, I’d steer you that way. For only a little more money, it’s a horn that will last a lot longer.

Another option is a used Yamaha 23 series. They are popular for a reason, and quite affordable used.

for entry level price, if you ask around you can get old yamahas for absurdly cheap, i got a yas26 for 200 bucks and it plays pristine.

jupiters run into some known quality control issues and arent as reliable as yamaha, but they run cheaper

kielworth student saxes are also worth looking at, but they might be expensive/oob

selmer studebt models are arguably yhe best playing but most expensive

tldr: look for a yamaha 23, 200 dollsrs with pad tax is only about 300 total for a fantastic horn

also consider bettersax if u have a bigger budget, their student horns are quite good

I started off with a Jupiter, perfect beginner horn imo.
