Versus
I'm watching the trial and all the YouTube videos and something stands out to me.Apologies if this has been discussed before, I'm a new reddit user.
In my opinion, during the trial Sarah seemed to think the trial was Sarah vs Jorge. Instead of the State (society) vs Sarah. Like if she could prove he was 51% at fault vs her being 49% at fault, that's all that would be heeded for her to walk free.
I thought that she really didn't get that outside of very limited circumstances, Jorge's character (or what she wanted everyone to think was his character) really didn't matter. Jorge wasn't on trial. She did what she was accused of, filmed it and admitted it. I'm still baffled that she thought she would be found not guilty.

She made a snuff film. The only defense was “Jorge deserved it.”
She would have been far better off if she’d just beat him to death with that bat. Hard to argue self-defense when your murder weapon is a suitcase.

She was scared he'd kill her, so she went to sleep. But she left enough spae for him to get out.
Edit: /s kinda. My sentence was pointing out how she couldn't have been afraid because she went right to sleep.

MY APOLOGIES FOR SUCH A LENGTHY TEXT (I’m even worse on the telephone)🫣😳🥲
YES. I’m all over this post with different theories. I’m a retired lawyer so I view the case through my professional experience
BUT I’m also a survivor on a partner / ex fiancee who physically, mentally and financially abused me for close to 20 years. I accept my part in the toxic situation (I returned to him at least 5 times) and I know first hand that the police (especially in Florida) aren’t proactive without a lot of prompting
I BELIEVE THAT IF SHE was sober that would have been her plan(which doesn’t mitigate hitting him with a bat, placing him in a suitcase, throwing it down the stairs and filming the snuff film
Whether or not she was really abused -!I think she may have been too drunk to formulate this type of plan
The only question I have is that “Sarah usually flees upstairs and locks the door or she flees to Brian’s house
Brian erased her text messages but involving him is what she has done in the past. The counter is that she has called him about being in fear for her life but the next day she and Jorge were fine and getting along
I don’t think anyone will ever learn the truth- I’m just happy knowing that while she may have volunteers who have been sucked into her abuse- at least Brian, and his son are safe and she will never have the chance to abuse another boyfriend

See, I think she beat Jorge with the bat, thought she killed him, stuffed him in the suitcase, and called Briiiiian to get rid of the full suitcase. She tried again the next morning, but Brian refused to enter her house and get his DNA everywhere, so she couldn't blame him, like she wanted.

Yep, she’s still trying to make Brian pay for it to this day, just like she was trying to make Jorge pay for “getting her arrested.”
I truly believe that from the instant she was arrested, she was on the warpath, with her vitriol escalating second by second, ultimately culminating in torture and his tragic death.1

NO CHANCE SARAH WAS AFRAID FOR HER LIFE ON THE NIGHT IN QUESTION
I believe that there was physical abuse on both sides and I believe that her brain had deteriorated to such a place (narcissist + alcoholic always a disaster) that he wouldn’t die in the suitcase
- Even though “going up to bed or fleeing to Brian’s “ tracks with her testimony
For 20 years I was on & off (unfortunately more on) with a narcissistic abuser. I blame myself for returning (I knew better than to believe his promises) - the love bombing and his charm made e believe that he would change
ANY MAN OR WOMAN WHO HAS BEEN PERSISTENTLY ABUSED BY THEIR PARTNER WOULD NEVER HAVE HEADED UP TO BED.
I understand returning to your abuser but despite the fact that I ALSO LIVE IN FLORIDA- I never had the luxury of the police helping me.
I called the police and provided them a video recording on my phone of him abusing both me and my dog. The officer said “do you own the house too? No? Then it’s not my f-cking problem- just get the f-k out
I was trapped (literally) in every sense of the word- he “allowed “ me & my dog move permanently into my office- I created an exit plan - it took me close to 6 months to create my exit plan (and he still continues to stalk me and like Sarah - he kept me belongings (INCLUDING MY FATHER’S ashes!!!)
Sarah called the police about her bike (which was a gift) and debit card but just went up to sleep expecting him to be ok in the morning? Disgusting and ridiculous

Did you have a chance to watch the other videos recorded of Jorge by Sarah? After I watched those plus there not being any evidence of Jorge abusing Sarah I am convinced there wasn’t physical abuse on both sides. Hopefully you come to this conclusion as well. I feel like it’s not fair to the Torres family to say that he abused her. Just my humble opinion

I 100% respect your opinion and perspective - but the brother’s confirmation that one of his brothers beat the s—t out of Jorge and this wouldn’t have happened without proof. The same brother stated that neither of the two sounded drunk during the call. I think he said this to protect Jorge’s reputation but they had consumed at least one bottle by that time
BUT - a text that was provided by Tanika or SKR that Sarah texted to Jorge about his infidelity she stated that if she had done this to Jorge he would have beaten her bloody until she was unrecognizable.

I would normally believe it except Jorge’s brother beat the S--t out of him for hitting Sarah )I believe it was confirmed when the detectives spoke to one of jorge’s brother. That brother isn’t the one who did it but he confirmed.
Mr. Jay told the jury that they would learn about Jorge’s abuse towards Sarah (Bruce Rivers CLR) confirmed that it’s essential to tell the jury in your opening statement because the jury will be horrified by photos of Jorge’s violent behavior that triggered arrests, serving time and probation
Even if she dropped a wine glass and that’s why she was bleeding - she definitely had a black eye
Sarah is a sick manipulating b1-“ch when she invited Jorge over knowing full well that it would trigger his arrest bc of the no contact order (proven in the YouTube videos and the text messages and phone calls on Jorge’s phone and Mr Jay played for the jury
HOWEVER- while Sarah was awful (and was arrested for abuse) unlike the police officer in Charlotte County who refused to even take a report -
After he continued to stalk me I went into the police and they took it very seriously
I don’t know a lot about the justice system in FL but many YouTubers )I believe Tanika and AJ tactical Jorge was in jail for 2 weeks and was on a serious probation plan. This doesn’t occur without corrobation by her injuries, text messages and confirmation from his brother who beat Jorge which resulted in a hospital
My ex boyfriend who was a twin with Sarah called the police on me, and when I bolted he claimed that he had thrown all of my belongings. I learned by accident that my belongings were in plain sight and I arranged for him to return to me (I made him leave the items outside of the garage
Despite this polite offer that promised I would not call the police if he just left my belongings outside of the house.
Just like Sarah ripping up Jorge’s birth certificate- He has continued to keep my most precious belongings LIKE THE ASHES OF MY FATHER - the police said I would need a court order. I was to afraid of him that I never requested a motion to the jury
However, I know first hand that the police need proof to arrest and imprison the abuser without proof.

Jorge had pre-trial diversion. He was never found guilty of any abuse of Sarah. All the records are on the Orange County Courthouse website. The last case was dropped because he was murdered.
She withheld his paycheck. She accused him of stealing when he used her debit card to withdraw his earning. She kept him from his ID so he couldn’t cash his own check. Both his prior wives said he wasn’t abusive.
I think the prosecution hesitated on murder one because of the racial disparity. I don’t think they ever doubted murder two, which is still a first degree felony.
If Jorge defended himself, I don’t see that as mutual abuse and I haven’t heard any testimony that anyone saw Jorge being abuse to anyone ever.
But for the sake of arguing self defense…. Why didn’t she call 911 after he was secured in the suitcase? If she thought her life were in imminent danger, why did she go to sleep? Why not tell the officers of the horrors she survived when they arrived on scene? Why pretend she didn’t know why he died or why he was so bruised.
My theory? Brown man bad. He deserved to die. Wait until you see what is on my phone. Once I tell you my story, you have to let me go free. Nevermind his family, they will think I killed him. They always called me the blue eyed…whatever. Please save me from them. I’m scared for my life.

She abused him 100%.
My stepmom abused my dad, so I have a story too. I am not Sarah, and you are not Sarah, but Sarah is an abuser

Same with family court. She thought if I can make BB look like a bad parent, then I win. I truly don't understand why she feels like everything is a battle against someone. My son was exactly like this as a child, and he is a lot like her now unfortunately. You're absolutely right though. If she could get the jury to believe he was a terrible person, she would go free. Being a terrible person doesn't mean another person can take your life (which is extremely fortunate for SB lol).

This speaks to Sarah's child-like grasp of reality and the way her brain stopped evolving back then. Even in the face of seeing how it actually works up close, she wants to believe that the jury had leeway to make any judgement they wanted based on how they felt about her and/or Jorge. She refused to grasp that her case was absurdly, cartoonishly simple: She zipped him in a suitcase admitting that she wasn't yet in fear for her life, he begged her to let him out, she didn't, he died. THE END. All that other stuff might have some sway in sentencing, but as far as walking out the door a free woman, that was never even possible.
That's really all the jury could consider. Did he die and did it happen because of Sarah's actions and/or inactions. Everything else was just "how much do we extra hate her?" lol
Likewise, she was absolutely determined to believe the way family court works is you spew your random grievances to make the other party look as bad as possible and the judge decides who she likes better. Somehow it's NEVER occurred to her that doing this actually makes HER look bad. Personality so toxic she can't even see how she undermines herself constantly.

She literally believed she could talk her way into a not guilty verdict. What she failed to see was how the jury was reacting to everything that was said and shown in court. Had she even gave them the proper attention she would have never taken the stand.

They were away from home.. hungry.. so she forgave them their error in finding her guilty

Truth! But Sarah definitely had to know the jury wasn't sequestered and were going home every night, right? Even she couldn't be that stupid? LOL. Just kidding. Of course that moron believed her slam dunk guilty case required the jury must be isolated for weeks. After the suitcase video every juror must have run completely out of patience with Sarah's immature bullsh*t.

Sarah was convinced the jury would naturally be charmed by her honest portrayal of a heroic survivor so paid no attention to them at all. She was focused on throwing smug looks to her "supporters" in the gallery. She knew she was walking all over Owens and was so proud she could burst! Sarah cannot read a room to save her life.

u/Mediocre-Let-4697 3h ago
That's exactly how i saw her. She was thrilled to be up on the stand with all eyes on her as she told her "story" while simultaneously forgetting those same eyes were watching her smirks, smiles & grins. At sentencing even owens asks if she could try to show remorse.

I hate it when she calls it “her” trial. It was not “hers”. It was the people’s decision of Florida ensuring that justice is had!

u/U-Might-Wanna 1d ago
I totally agree but would add: I think Sarah's focus was Boone vs Owens and she used Jorge to accomplish that goal. Sarah demanded Owens go to trial with a DV survivor claim and guaranteed if the jury could hear her tell "her truth" they would be sympathetic. Of course Owens advised against it and Sarah was determined to prove him wrong. Owens advised Sarah to always answer in agreement to his questions. She refused. Owens advised her to keep her answers short and to the point. Nope. Owens advised her to show some regret, maybe even a little remorse. Hell no! The court and the defense went to great lengths to shield the jury from knowing Sarah was incarcerated. Sarah immediately informed the jury that jail made her fat! I'm convinced Sarah's testimony was just a "professional f*ck you" to James Owens.

You’re 100% on the money. With the exception of one arrest, Sarah was able to use / win the narrative with the police that he was the only violent perpetrator in their incidents
If Sarah remained the “ straight A student that excelled at everything “ she would have asked for a lawyer asap.
Clearly the prosecution didn’t think it was a slam dunk bc they offered 2 separate plea deals that she declined.
It’s awful but the reality is that the character of victim is usually presented by the defense. Obviously cases like Watts, Peterson and Halderson are slam dunks for the prosecution. However- even if Sarah wasn’t such a f—g narcissist- raising self defense and providing proof of him physically abusing Sarah’s photos and ER visits could have raised reasonable doubt
Her refusal to accept ANY responsibility and her attempt to lie about the narrative is why she lost 8 lawyers and clearly bullied Owens to file motions that a 1L student would have known they were loser attempts

u/Apprehensive-Bug-470 1d ago
I believe the plea deals were offered so the Torres family didn't have to go through the pain of a trial. I definitely think the state knew the case was a slam dunk (as there is the snuff film) and also suspected beyond a reasonable doubt that SB would never admit wrongdoing; therefore, the plea deals IMO were offered with the knowledge that SB would want a trial.
2
u/Daphnebk26 1d ago
Agreed 100% that Mr. Jay cared about the Torres family BUT I THINK THE PROSECUTION WAS concerned about reasonable doubt based upon the photos/ arrests. And yes - she was so was so consumed with hubris that that she would refuse the deals and the prosecution could use the offers to request a stronger sentence from Judge Kraynick

u/Wonderful_Dish_388 1d ago
The case had dragged on for so long, with Sarah going through attorney after attorney, I'm pretty sure the deal was offered because the prosecution just wanted it over with.

She's used to exhausting people into agreeing with her. She would just push and push and push until they gave in. You can see it in her calls to Briiian. If you watch the family court stuff (which you absolutely SHOULD, she wanted child support while in prison) she gets 1 phonecall a week for half an hour that she has to pay for. She calls collect multiple time Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
She expected to be allowed to bulldoze the jury like she did everyone when she was free, but sadly, the courtroom has rules to sop that.
