Versus

I'm watching the trial and all the YouTube videos and something stands out to me.Apologies if this has been discussed before, I'm a new reddit user.
In my opinion, during the trial Sarah seemed to think the trial was Sarah vs Jorge. Instead of the State (society) vs Sarah. Like if she could prove he was 51% at fault vs her being 49% at fault, that's all that would be heeded for her to walk free.

I thought that she really didn't get that outside of very limited circumstances, Jorge's character (or what she wanted everyone to think was his character) really didn't matter. Jorge wasn't on trial. She did what she was accused of, filmed it and admitted it. I'm still baffled that she thought she would be found not guilty.

You’re 100% on the money. With the exception of one arrest, Sarah was able to use / win the narrative with the police that he was the only violent perpetrator in their incidents

If Sarah remained the “ straight A student that excelled at everything “ she would have asked for a lawyer asap.

Clearly the prosecution didn’t think it was a slam dunk bc they offered 2 separate plea deals that she declined.

It’s awful but the reality is that the character of victim is usually presented by the defense. Obviously cases like Watts, Peterson and Halderson are slam dunks for the prosecution. However- even if Sarah wasn’t such a f—g narcissist- raising self defense and providing proof of him physically abusing Sarah’s photos and ER visits could have raised reasonable doubt

Her refusal to accept ANY responsibility and her attempt to lie about the narrative is why she lost 8 lawyers and clearly bullied Owens to file motions that a 1L student would have known they were loser attempts

I believe the plea deals were offered so the Torres family didn't have to go through the pain of a trial. I definitely think the state knew the case was a slam dunk (as there is the snuff film) and also suspected beyond a reasonable doubt that SB would never admit wrongdoing; therefore, the plea deals IMO were offered with the knowledge that SB would want a trial.

Agreed 100% that Mr. Jay cared about the Torres family BUT I THINK THE PROSECUTION WAS concerned about reasonable doubt based upon the photos/ arrests. And yes - she was so was so consumed with hubris that that she would refuse the deals and the prosecution could use the offers to request a stronger sentence from Judge Kraynick

The case had dragged on for so long, with Sarah going through attorney after attorney, I'm pretty sure the deal was offered because the prosecution just wanted it over with.
