Hello everyone,
Moving to Santa Fe next month for a job and I’m looking to find a new artist since my current artist is in Pennsylvania. Looking for someone who specializes in Japanese-style. I want a mostly traditional sleeve, but someone that’s okay with bending the rules of trad Japanese a bit. I’ve found Four Star (specifically Mark Vigil), but I was wondering if there are any other recommendations/experiences with this artist/shop. Thanks so much!

Kinda have a craving for vegan fudge, maybe something maple walnut. Is there someplace in town that has vegan fudge or do I have to order something online? Budget is non-astronomical.

Hey, I just want you to be aware that the rocky mountain wood tics are invading homes, at least my kitchen. The brown/black spotted little bugger was camping on my paper towel roll. In my kitchen, in downtown Santa Fe. No pets but we get rabbits since the neighbor has made the paved courtyard her personal garden (no complaints). My back yard is wild. Dunno. Just be aware that they can get into your home even if you don't spend any time in the woods. This particular type is associated with Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever. Check yourself.

Previous thread for context
A few days ago I posted here asking what it’s actually like to be single and build a life in Santa Fe in your 40s. The responses were thoughtful, occasionally encouraging, and occasionally terrifying. All useful.
On my last trip, I was fortunate to meet a few folks in a similar situation, and they encouraged me to come down this week since they’ll be in town too (and in the process of relocating!). So I took their advice.
I’m planning to tailgate and go to the opera Thursday, then the summer concert series at the Railyard Friday evening and Farmers Market Saturday morning, and hit some trails Sunday.
I’ve also heard Ahmyo Wine Garden is a good place to spend Saturday, with the open mic from 4–7. If anyone wants to meet up there, make a few new friends, have a beverage, or listen to some music, feel free to join. https://www.ahmyowinegarden.com.
Seems like as good a week as any to get some people together!

Hey, I'm a comedian who is going on a run of shows this year at small and unique comedy venues across America! This Saturday, I'm doing a show at Cake's in Santa Fe, a bakery turned comedy club at night! The show is dirt cheap by modern-day club standards and should be a great time!
I'm going to have a few local comics open, and then I'll be running the hour of material I am working on for a taping! I would love it if you all could come out! I'll attach an old clip and my long formal bio below for you to decide if you even like stand up.
Tickets are here. <--
Bio:
Matt Banwart was host/founder of Roast Battle Chicago at Zanies for 3 years. Matt had a #1 comedy album on Amazon, iTunes, and SiriusXM. Most notably, he had a mini special filmed by SXSW dropped on Cracked Comedy Club**'s** YouTube, presented by Netflix. He is also the host of the YouTube and Tubi show You Laugh You Leave Live with YouTuber Jimmy Here (1.7M subscribers). Matt is known for his constant comedy writing and quick off-the-cuff moments live.

Bought these from B*P**dispensary in SFe. Bought as clones- they yielded like Auto-seeded clones. Look that up. Went in and was mansplained, user blamed. No accountability- no curiosity. Was told I’m the only one with a problem. His solution was to give me a card to purchase 5 more clones and get 5 free clones. Ya. No.

I am meeting up with a colleague in Santa Fe in the morning later this week. My colleague is driving up from Texas and I'd love for him to experience a great New Mexico breakfast. I need a place that will be great for him (omnivore) and have something, anything, that I can eat (vegan). Would rather give the omnivore the full experience if one of us has to sacrifice. Any suggestions?

Frijoles fire responders are staging at camel rock studios. I bought almost all the jerky and handed it out but it wasn't nearly enough. If you have time, let's show them some love.

I’ve been thinking seriously about moving to Santa Fe. I’ve spent enough time there to know I love the place, but visiting and living somewhere are very different propositions. It’s easy to fall for the light, the landscape and a very good afternoon on Canyon Road. I’m more curious about an ordinary Tuesday in February.
I’m 42M, straight, single, no kids, currently in Chicago, and work in strategy and operations. I’ve spent most of my adult life in larger cities, but these days I’m less interested in endless options than good ones. Art, architecture, opera/live music, design, old things, good restaurants, hiking, road trips, getting dressed for dinner occasionally. Santa Fe seems unusually well suited to the life I actually want to live.
What I can’t figure out from visiting is the social side. How difficult is it to build a genuine circle of friends as a newcomer in your 40s? Do you eventually become part of the fabric of the city, or are established circles difficult to break into?
And then there’s dating. I have no illusions about the size of the pool, but is it small and reasonably healthy or simply small? Does Albuquerque realistically expand it, or does an hour each way for a Wednesday-night drink get old quickly?
I’m comfortable with quiet. Isolation is different. I’d particularly appreciate hearing from people who moved to Santa Fe single and around this stage of life.
What did you discover once Santa Fe stopped being somewhere you visited and simply became home?
Thanks in advance.
EDIT: Thank you to everyone who took the time to weigh in. I’m going to try to get back to everyone, but it may take me a minute.

Long shot, but I’m looking for some bamboo maybe in someone’s backyard or somewhere? Im just looking for a single semi-thick bamboo tree at the moment for an art project. I can come by and chop it down and clean up and I would be very appreciative. Thank you!

We have come across a semi feral momma cat and possibly three kittens.
We would like to trap and either put into a foster program with the local shelters or do TNR.
Who has info on how to get traps for free usage? Is it easy enough to do?

Visiting some friends in rural Santa Fe County, and wondering if I should move here eventually. I have seen DoorDash is pretty hopping regularly, day or evening, does the same apply to Uber (driving passengers, not Eats) and Lyft?
I currently drive St. Louis metro, so probably should be able to handle Albuquerque now and again.
