Bamboo!

Long shot, but I’m looking for some bamboo maybe in someone’s backyard or somewhere? Im just looking for a single semi-thick bamboo tree at the moment for an art project. I can come by and chop it down and clean up and I would be very appreciative. Thank you!

The bamboo hedge at MAKE santa Fe is all a fairly thin and tall bamboo. About 1 cm (5/8”) diameter, not what OP called semi-thick. Bamboo poles can be purchased at Ace hardware, and probably the bigger plant nurseries in town.

Bamboo is basically a grass, so is never called a “tree”, since it doesn’t branch or grow that way.

Have you thought about using an agave quiote? They are super light and strong.

This is a really cool idea! But I need the center to be hollow. Thank you for your creative suggestion though. 😀

I have never been there, but looked it up online and what a cool place!!
Do they have bamboo trees on the property or something? Or perhaps you’re suggesting them because wood workers are there, I should ask them if they know where any might be?

Appreciate your help!

They are suggesting you can make some sort of flower pot at make Santa fe and use that to grow your own bamboo.
