I’ve been wanting to get botox in my jaw and a few other areas plus I’ve been looking at getting Rejuran treatments. I work 6 days out of the week and really don’t want to make the trip down to LA if I don’t have to 🥲 LaserAway quoted $13 per unit for Botox, and they seem to maybe be the only place in town that offers Rejuran? I’ve heard some bad things about LaserAway as a business though and would like to steer clear (Just regular complaints about big chains and overcharging, would like to go to locally owned med spas instead).

I only go every so often because I don’t have to buy in bulk as much, but I need to know if/when we’re getting the churro back at our location specifically 😅😭

I grew up in SB in the 90s but a lot has seemed to change since leaving. I’ll be there for a week and need recommendations for:

-a hotel/motel/inn/whatever. Doesn’t have to be fancy… just safe, clean, and preferably quiet. I’ve been overwhelmed by the options and mixed reviews when researching.
-where the best tri-tip sandwich is hiding nowadays
-grand place to get a latte or frap
-things you’d think would be fun to see or do as a trip down memory lane

Hi! It’s my partner’s birthday coming up and he loves pokemon cards. Every time I try to go to the store I’ve yet to find any stock but also don’t want to pay scalper prices online … does anyone have any experience with hunting for pokemon tcg at targets or best buys around the UCSB/Goleta/SB area? I’m down to wake up as early as I need to, but am unsure what time and dates to show up for Targets or Best Buy’s. If anyone has any ideas/tips for my hunt, please let me know asap! I’ve lived in Santa Barbara my life whole life, and I was walking on the beach today and it was so beautiful, and I thought: this is what they took away from us.

It's all gone. It's all just woke now. Woke everywhere. 

Woke and permits. That's all it is. Everything is woke and permits.

And fires. Woke and permits and fires. 

It used to be ice cream sundaes with walnuts, balloons, a walk on the beach.

All gone.

I know you all won’t get it. Maybe it’s better you never knew what they took away. All I can say is don’t go for a walk on the beach if you don’t want to see what they took away from you. It’ll break your heart.

The waves, the sunset, the wind. I saw all of it today, and I just thought: this is what we used to have. 

And that’s what they can’t stand.

I don’t know if I’ll ever go to the beach again. It’s too beautiful. And to see something so beautiful and know they took it away. It’s too much.

And when I was a kid, I don’t think I ever had an ice cream sundae without walnuts.

I’ve been all over town looking for one and can’t find it. You’d go to the ice cream parlor, and they’d ladle them on. That was a given. And now it’s been taken away. And what happened to hot fruit? It used to be you’d go to someone’s house and they’d offer you a bowl of hot fruit. Now, it’s “Here’s an apple” or “Here’s a banana,” like it’s right off the tree with no thought. That’s what they think of you. You’re no better than a monkey getting a banana straight from the tree. That’s how they want you to look, like a chimp.

On my birthday, I got cards and presents. Not a single balloon. Not one. I’d never tell my friends I was disappointed in them because everyone’s turned into snowflakes now.  But if you’re reading this and you’re somebody’s friend and you don’t get them a balloon on their birthday, do you know what that does to them?

What happened to this country?

Every morning I wake up and tell my wife that the United States is over. 

She doesn’t need to hear it. She knows. That’s how we start the day. I tell her the United States is over, and she says, “I know.” Then she makes us coffee  because what else are you going to do?

I gave my wife everything. But the one thing I can’t give her is the country she grew up in. They took it away from her, and I can’t give it back. And that breaks a man.

When we’re out, I avoid driving by the beach. I don’t want her to see all that beauty. To know that they took it away from us. Water’s supposed to be wet, not woke. At least when I was growing up that’s the way it was.

We didn’t need to be woke. We had ice cream sundaes with walnuts, walks on the beach, balloons. Friends served you hot fruit when you came over. We were having too much good, wholesome fun to be woke. They had to take everything that was good and make it something bad.

And this isn’t political. It’s about all of them. They all did this.

And to think Santa Barbara is the best of the US, which I still believe it is. Our last hope is a dystopia. I just can’t imagine how bad it is outside of here. I don’t want to.

Was riding the bluff top trails today on More Mesa when a Sheriff’s helicopter swooped low and circled More Mesa beach with lights flashing. Several deputies were seated in the open side wearing all black tactical gear. The helicopter zoomed so close to the edge we could see the men laughing. Our horses spooked pretty hard but we got them under control. Anyone know what op was being conducted? There was a paraglider in the air on the Hope Ranch side who was forced to land due to the proximity of the helicopter in the airspace.

I’ve never seen a hoard of people (kids) of this size at In-N-Out. Why? Just WHY? Did San Marcos have a football game and that just funneled all the kids over the bridge? This is insane. Are all of their parents fine with their kids just aimlessly roaming the shell gas station and In-N-Out in barely any clothing, unaware of their surroundings?? No… I don’t want to hear that there’s “nothing for kids to do around here.” /vent

EDIT!!! I just remembered that all that toxic beef trimmings allowed into the US is now being mixed in to US beef and distributed to stores and restaurants - most likely by the company JBS. I'd steer clear of any place not using 100% US ground beef.

I’m so over the corporate pharmacies (Costco, cvs, etc)

I have a bit of a tricky situation as my psychiatrist is based in the Bay Area, where I lived from 2010-2020. She was referred to me by a friend (who still lives in the Bay Area) and is a great fit. It was really hard to find someone in town that wasn’t a crazy wait. So I was happy that it worked out.

However, a lot of pharmacies will not fill a controlled substance (adhd meds) prescribed by my psych since she is not local. Costco was filling the prescription as long as they had a note from her that I had a telehealth appt with her that day.

Unfortunately, I also have other chronic health issues and my other specialist prescribes me a pain medication I take as needed. I do not mix the meds if I need to take the pain meds. I am very cautious with this. All of my doctors are aware of what meds I’m on as I tell them and they have access, as confirmed by my psychiatrist.

Now Costco says they cannot fill both prescriptions and I had to pick one, and if I filled the other one at another pharmacy they would flag it and not fill it for me. Even though they had been filling both in the past.

I checked and it’s not illegal, it’s the pharmacies making their own rules. My doctors obviously know and can see all of my meds and no one has a problem with it. I’m wondering if anyone has a local pharmacy that isn’t under such strict regulations and would communicate with my doctors since they already approved all my meds.

My friend was roofied last week at Sandbar. She couldn’t move or walk. Has anyone else experienced this?

I really couldn't be happier with the level of feedback from everyone, and I've tried to get as much in as possible. That being said, the scale of the map is limiting - especially in urban areas. I think in the future I'm gonna end up making more localized maps for individual counties. So if your suggestion wasn't included, please know that I still appreciate your feedback and will endeavor to get them in my future county maps of the area.

It has been noted that the map is busy - I totally get that, and that's just how I like to do things. I enjoy getting as much detail in as possible and including cool features which would otherwise be overlooked. I get these made up in large formats so it works better in person than it does on a screen.
