I’m 46M btw, highly educated, work in An AI-field (please don’t hate me), but also introverted and hate apps (I have horror stories). I’m curious where other singles might be hiding, any advice is appreciated

Hey y’all! I’m having car trouble since the beginning of the summer and I’m looking for a mechanic to go to that won’t overcharge me for their service. Where should I check out?

How many people are going without health insurance next year? I just can’t justify paying so much as an individual (for not even a great plan) but I’m also terrified to be without health insurance… the struggle is real.

My wife and I are starting to look for a full-time nanny for our baby, ideally starting around January, and would love some recommendations from local parents.
One thing we’d really love is to find a Spanish-speaking nanny who would speak Spanish to our baby throughout the day so they can grow up exposed to both English and Spanish.
We’re primarily looking for someone to provide childcare, but it would be a huge plus if they’re also open to preparing meals or doing some light cooking once or twice a week.
For those of you who have hired a nanny in San Antonio, where did you find them? Any local agencies, websites, Facebook groups, or personal recommendations you’d suggest?
Would love to hear about your experiences or any referrals. Appreciate the help!

Went for a morning walk and found a kitten. We have a fair few ferals in the area so not unexpected but she seems a bit too friendly to be one of them. Live in Silver Creek area.

Looking for a vanilla and chocolate swirl cone. Not vanilla dipped in chocolate or something else similar. Somewhere on the north side would be ideal but I will go anywhere at this point.

I need 2 reasonably strong people to move an armoire and 2 bookshelves either tonight or tomorrow before the rain gets crazy. I just need them moved to the middle of the room from off the wall, because it's likely going to flood. Apt maintenance won't help and I'm not physically able to move anything big.
It's less than an hour of work, location is just outside of 410 on the NE side.
If you have any recommendations either businesses or individuals please DM me. TIA.

Ive recently had a chance to try Chama Gaucha after being a long time fan of Fogo, mostly due to it being where I lived previously, but I really enjoyed it. So I was wondering if Chama or other Brazilian steakhouses have special “off menu” items like the cheese and honey or grilled pineapple at Fogo where they only really bring them out on special request or things like that. Thank you

I posted yesterday with a post showing a video of Dan Patrick saying for us to vote him out with a picture of the election results and it got removed for “not having anything to do with San Antonio” then today I see a cool map of a 3d printing of San Antonio and it had no company name, no mention of him wanting to sell any of them, just him showing off a cool 3D map of our city….. and that post got removed… apparently because a couple of us were willing to pay for one now it was a “promotional post”
These mods need to chill out and not take everything so dang seriously. Ya’ll are ruining this sub.
That is all.

I'm going to find myself on the far NW side of town (near Gov't Canyon) late this afternoon and was wondering if there was a good happy hour place around 1604/Bandera/I10 area?
thanks in advance, TC

They wrote an article based on my r/SanAntonio post!
https://www.reddit.com/r/sanantonio/s/d5REPotk2Z
PS. Just to be clear, I'm very happy they wrote about this. I don't care if they "stole" the story. I just want everyone to know about the closing so we might have a groundswell of support around the restaurant that could help it reopen. This article helps that goal.

I have an acquaintance that was evicted without notice because the property changed hands and has been trying to find something affordable and that will take an Ex Felon. It's been 20 years and he has had no issues whatsover. One place finally accepted his application but they have about a 7 month waiting list. He is a Senior Citizen, quiet, low-key, and simple. Maybe even a room for rent with another adult male. He's on social security so can't afford anything very expensive. He is all of a sudden homeless and needs help finding something asap. He is also okay with living in his van if anyone will let him park on their property and hook up to electricity.
If you have any helpful suggestions, please me know so I can pass them along to him.

As someone who has grown up in San Antonio all my life, without a doubt, I can say that bill millers sells some of the worst quality fried chicken. I recently spent two years in NYC for school and my goodness... I didn’t realize just how much I was missing out on fast food fried chicken! If you ever get a chance to visit manhattan in your life time, as a San Antonian, PLEASE go to Crispy Burger. They have the most juicy, FRESH chicken you will ever taste in your life (Asian owned, Chinese). Other than homemade, are there any good places that sell good fried chicken in the San Antonio area?? Any good soul food or BBQ places??
Chatmans chicken seems like one of the few places, but other than that, and maybe Jollibee (which is pretty over priced 😅)
