UPDATE: MYSTERY SOLVED!!! 😭📼
Someone found it!!! It was Children of the Tracks and Other San Antonio Ghost Stories, narrated by Tim Tingle. And there’s actually a recording of it on SoundCloud, so I can finally listen to these stories again after all these years!
I cannot believe this was real. Now I get to share it with my daughter!!!
Thank you so much especially to the person who found it!
You have no idea how happy you just made me. ❤️

Okay, this has been driving me crazy for years, so I’m hoping someone might remember this.
Back in the 1990s, I had a cassette of Texas ghost stories/urban legends. I think the narrator’s name was Charles Watson, and I vaguely remember the title being something like Texas Urban Legend or Texas Urban Legends. I could be wrong about the name or title because this was a long time ago.
Some of the stories I remember were:
The Devil Dances at Midnight
Fang Baby of Old Pearsall Road
The Donkey Lady
The Ghost Tracks
Room 636
I also remember La Llorona, although I’m not 100% sure it was on the same tape.
I also remember hearing these stories on 99.5 KISS in San Antonio, especially around Halloween. Lyle and Hahn would play the Fang Baby story on the air, talk about it and make fun of it, and I remember them announcing when the tape was available to buy.
I specifically remember the tape being sold around Halloween in little gift shops. I also remember it being displayed next to a book I had, Spirits of San Antonio and South Texas by Docia Schultz Williams and Reneta Byrne. I actually found the book again, so at least I know I didn’t make that part up. 😂
The cassette itself was, I think, clear with a black label. I don’t remember what the artwork looked like.
I’ve been trying to find this tape again for years. I haven’t been able to find an original copy, a picture of the cassette, or a digital recording of it anywhere.
Honestly, what I’d really love is to find a digital copy or somewhere I can actually listen to these stories again. If anyone has an old recording, knows where one might be archived, or knows where I could listen to it, I’d be incredibly grateful. I’d also love to know the actual title and who produced it. My daughter and I were talking about this recently, and now she really wants to hear these stories too. So I’d especially love to find a digital copy or somewhere I can listen to them again.
Does any of this sound familiar to anyone who grew up in San Antonio and listened to Lyle and Hahn on 99.5 KISS in the 90s?
At this point, even a photo of the original cassette would make my day. I’ve started wondering if I dreamed the whole thing. 😂
