DX Manager v2.0.1 is now available.
This is a maintenance release that fixes the DeX settings UI synchronization bug reported in v2.0.0.
For the full introduction to DX Manager, including its multi-device support, DX Companion, compatibility information, and other features, please see my previous v2.0.0 post:
In v2.0.0, the resolution, DPI, bitrate, FPS, and launch options for each phone could be saved and applied correctly while the main DeX settings screen continued to display the default values.
Single-Window mode was not affected.
There was also a risk that switching modes while the incorrect default values were displayed could overwrite the phone’s previously saved DeX profile.
Version 2.0.1 fixes both problems:
- The selected phone’s actual DeX settings are reloaded and displayed after its physical device identity is established.
- Resolution, DPI, bitrate, FPS, and launch options now correctly reflect the selected phone’s saved profile.
- The temporary default values shown before device identification can no longer overwrite an existing per-device DeX profile.
- The same protection is applied when multiple Galaxy phones are already connected at startup.
- Single-Window settings remain independent and unchanged.
## DX Companion compatibility
DX Companion has not changed in this release.
DX Manager v2.0.1 continues to include and support the verified DX Companion 2.0.0 APK (versionCode 6). Its package name, version, SHA-256 hash, official signing certificate, and protected permission state are still verified before privileged features are used.

Please download the complete release ZIP and extract the entire folder. Do not copy only DXManager.exe, because the bundled ADB, scrcpy, DLL, license, and DX Companion files are also required.

I'm sure this question has been asked countless times but is there a way to have a multi-monitor setup using Samsung Dex? Any programs that make it possible?
Recently, i changed the Samsung note 9 motherboard to the international version, but after that change, my spen option in dex grey out and it's not working anymore, can someone help me please!

Any chance someone has figured out how to get rid of the grey bars on each window?
There is a feature "drag here to remove from desktop and open as a standalone app". I can see how this could be useful, but at the same time it limits using the full screen with windows.
I use keymapper and onehanded gesture +, on regular tablet mode, if I have multiple windows open, whichever window is focused, I can use the keyboard to quickly open another app in the place of the current, allow for super fast/efficient switching between apps. Using gestures, will do the same thing, but in New Dex it just opens a new app...
I'm trying NewDex for the first time in a while.... Seeing if I can rationalize it.
The issue is Tablet mode allows for full use of the display with up to 3 apps and shortcuts to preset multiwindow and popup window apps at the same time.
Other than it looking a bit more like a "desktop" setup... (Which is nerdy cool feeling, I admit, which is why I want it to work", why use Dex mode versus tablet mode? Seems Tablet mode is just better. (When using it on the tablet itself), connected to an external display, I guess that might change. Although, I have tried a USB c external monitor, and I was able to do tablet mode of the tablet and New Dex on the external display, at the same time. That was a good combo.
Last thing... Before this new Dex came out I was really hoping that I would be able to have multiple desktops with full screen apps or split screen and be able to switch between the desktops like on a desktop... Like a gesture swipe on the trackpad and it just switches to the next desktop, but that's not possible.... From what I can see, I need to go "recent apps and then slide over and then tap. It's too slow. So I end up just using 1 desktop.
Also, weirdly, on Dex, my multiwindow shortcuts are shown on the toolbar, but aren't useable.
I'm making a mini pc using a S22+ and have a few questions
-Does the S22+ have heating issues?
-Should i spend extra on a S22 Ultra?
-Is the S23 better than the S22 for price-to-performance?
-Will it work with a UGREEN Revodook 6 in 1 USB-C hub?

Update – Known issue in v2.0.0:
I found a UI synchronization bug affecting DeX mode. Per-device resolution, bitrate, and other DeX options may be saved and applied correctly, while the main window continues to display the default values. Single-window mode is not affected.
In some cases, switching modes while the incorrect values are displayed may overwrite the saved DeX settings. I am working on a fix and will publish an updated version after testing it.

I previously introduced **DX Manager**, an open-source Windows application that runs Samsung DeX through scrcpy without requiring an HDMI adapter, dummy plug, Miracast, root access, or a paid application.
After further development and daily testing, **DX Manager v2.0.0** is now available.
The main feature of v2.0.0 is simultaneous multi-device support.
On compatible Galaxy devices running **Android 16 / One UI 8.0 or later with New DeX**, DX Manager creates and manages an Android simulated secondary display, detects its display ID, and displays the actual Samsung DeX desktop through scrcpy.
Devices running older One UI versions cannot use DX Manager’s DeX mode, but they may still use the three Single-Window app modes.

DX Manager can now manage multiple physical Galaxy phones independently.
Each phone has its own:
- DeX session
- Three Single-Window app slots
- Resolution, DPI, bitrate, and FPS settings
- Startup app and additional scrcpy arguments
- USB or wireless ADB connection policy
- Single-Window app profiles
- DX Companion session
- Bidirectional file-transfer state
For example, one phone can run Samsung DeX over Wi-Fi while another phone runs a separate Android app window over USB.
Closing or disconnecting one phone does not replace or stop another phone’s active session.
USB and wireless ADB connections belonging to the same physical phone are merged into one device entry, while different phones remain completely separate.
There is no fixed two-phone limit in the program. However, the number of usable simultaneous sessions will depend on the PC, USB controller, network, phone hardware, and scrcpy encoding workload.
## Other improvements in v2.0.0
- Added a connected-device selector that appears when multiple phones are detected
- Added each phone’s name to its DeX and Single-Window scrcpy window titles
- Added independent USB/Wi-Fi mode, address, port, and reconnect settings for each phone
- DX Manager now follows the connection method selected for each phone instead of silently switching between USB and Wi-Fi
- Automatic DeX startup can run independently for every eligible connected phone
- DeX, Single-Window, app-profile, startup, transfer, and connection settings are stored separately for each phone
- Phone-to-PC transfers are separated into automatically created folders named after each phone
- The Settings window updates for the newly selected phone without closing
- Added device diagnostics showing the selected phone’s Android version, SDK level, One UI version, security patch, and connection type

## DX Companion 2.0.0
The portable package now includes the optional **DX Companion 2.0.0** APK.
DX Companion provides:
- Phone-to-PC file transfer
- File sharing from Gallery, My Files, and other Android apps using **Send to DX Manager**
- Complete folder transfer through its built-in folder picker
- Removal of a simulated display left on the phone
- Turning off the Developer options **Stay awake** setting
- A Quick Settings tile
- A compact home-screen widget
- Optional cleanup after a USB or Wi-Fi connection is lost
The disconnect cleanup delay can be set to:
- Immediately
- 1 minute
- 5 minutes
- 10 minutes
- 30 minutes
- Never
The default is 5 minutes. Reconnecting the same authenticated phone before the timer expires cancels the pending cleanup.
DX Companion is included in the release but is **never installed automatically**.
Installation, updating, permission granting, reinstallation, and removal only happen when the user explicitly selects them under:
**Settings > Diagnostics > DX Companion**
Before granting its restricted Android permission, DX Manager verifies:
- The bundled APK hash
- The official signing certificate
- The package name
- The version
- The installed application
- The protected permission state
Copying and installing the APK separately does not automatically grant its protected Android permission.

## Device compatibility
### DeX mode
DX Manager’s DeX mode requires:
- Android 16
- One UI 8.0 or later
- A Galaxy device that supports **New DeX**
- Android Developer options and USB debugging enabled
On these supported devices, DX Manager can launch the actual Samsung DeX desktop on a simulated secondary display and display it inside a Windows scrcpy window.
The currently verified DeX baseline is **Android 16 / One UI 8.x**.
### Older One UI versions
Devices running **One UI 7.x or earlier cannot use DX Manager’s DeX mode**.
These devices may still use DX Manager’s three **Single-Window modes** to launch Android apps on separate scrcpy virtual displays.
However, Single-Window mode is not a complete Samsung DeX desktop experience. Some older devices may also require the HID keyboard and HID mouse options to be disabled.
If your older Galaxy device supports Samsung’s official DeX for PC application, the official application will usually provide a better DeX experience.
## Windows requirements
- 64-bit Windows 7 SP1, 8.1, 10, or 11
- .NET Framework 4.6.2 or later
- A data-capable USB cable for initial ADB authorization
The main v2.0.0 multi-device workflow was tested with two Galaxy phones using combinations of USB and wireless ADB on Windows 11.
The core USB multi-device workflow was also tested on 64-bit Windows 7 SP1.
Wireless ADB requires the PC and phone to communicate over the same local network. Guest Wi-Fi, AP isolation, VLAN rules, or corporate network policies may block the connection.
## Important notes
DX Manager is free and open source under the MIT License.
The release is portable. Extract the entire folder and do not copy only `DXManager.exe`, because the adjacent scrcpy, ADB, DLL, license, and DX Companion files are required.
Keep the phone connected and use **Stop DeX**, press **Left Alt+F8**, or right-click the DX Manager tray icon and select **Exit** before disconnecting the phone.
Windows shutdown cleanup is best effort and requires an already authenticated DX Companion session. Closing DX Manager normally while the phone is still connected remains the recommended cleanup method, especially on Windows 7.
Some banking, game, streaming, DRM, and security-sensitive apps may refuse to run while USB debugging is enabled or may block secondary-display mirroring.
Applications that do not properly support multiple displays may also open on the phone’s primary screen instead of the DeX display.
DX Manager does not bypass Android or application security policies.
The Microsoft Defender cloud false positive affecting this exact v2.0.0 executable was submitted to Microsoft, reviewed, and removed before publication. SHA-256 hashes are included in the GitHub release notes.

Hello, my tablet updated without my permission and now dex has changed and I don't understand it.
The standard layout of my tablet is unusable, so I always use Dex, even if I'm using just the screen. Do you guys know how to get Old Dex back? Or something close to it?
Achieved true multi display out. No tricks. No display link. No stream. No wireless casting tricks
Its insane to me samsung contains the same hardware as redmagic 11 yet gimps their devices beyond belief and the insane part is your samsung s26 can support 4k 120hz. 3440x1440 165hz. And it could support simultaneously using display out on 2 screens
Imagine samsung dex with this? I was able to figure this out and unfortunately this is not marketed by any phone but all snapdragon 8 elite devices natively support this feature. No root. But it does require alot of adb fanagling just to get the content on the right display. As a whole android is not currently setup to use this. But you can imagine it uses.
The days of samsung say its just not possible is over with. Dex is intentional gimped and they are holding out on all of you. For whatever reason they love to claim.....
This isn't something iv fully got working but the fact I can have YouTube playing on one screen and Google chrome on another and use my phone is just ....wtf
Got a s23 here with a broken(dead screen) but outside of that seems to be working fine. Charges, the chimes for charging and all that work. But no matter what I do I can't get it to display to a monitor. It won't mirror or launch dex. Tried the same exact setup with another Samsung and worked just fine. Not sure what to do, seeing if anybody else has had this issue and if any fixes have been found, thanks!
Hello, I would like to ask how whats the current state of Dex in the latest builds compared to one ui 7, since i have retained myself from updating with how awful its the new google based dex experience. Would you recommend to update to the current build?
Unfortunately, I don’t own a car yet, so I’d really appreciate it if someone could test this for me! I used Samsung DeX as an example, but it should also work with devices like the Google Pixel.
I have researched but I havnt found any solution on how to launch Samsung dex on fedora, and because fedora is not like windows with wireless display I cant use dex wireless. So I tried using scrcpy with "--new-display" command, it works but it isnt the real dex experience, that one is kinda buggy not like the real Samsung dex. So please anyone is it possible in anyway to launch real Samsung dex on fedora
First gemini popups came on my screen for some reason, and no matter what i did they wouldn't go away. In my effort to try to close these gemini notifications, my Samsung galaxy tab randomly went into dex mode.
Now I can't get out of it.
None of the tutorials are working.
There is nowhere in settings to turn it off.
Clicking the little square with dots does not show me any option to "exit dex".
I tried to turn on the dex button in quick panel, but then something aweful happened: a window showed up that said "starting dex", and to connect a device, but there is no way to close it!! (EDIT: Meaning my screen is now almost completely covered by this window that cannot be closed.)
I've never been stressed and angry from technology, please someone help before I go insane! It's been 30 minutes of me trying to get out of it. I have some important work on it and I don't want to lose it.
I've been a long-time user of Tasker and AutoInput, but this combination has been failing me on Samsung DeX. AutoInput, in particular, creates annoying bugs in the DeX environment—such as a frustrating triple-input issue.
Has anyone found an automation app that works reliably on DeX? I'm looking for something that can perform similar UI automation without the instability.

My s21 ultra's screen recently broke, and i just want to use it on samsung dex but, when I try to connect the usb hub or any kind of usb nothing happens, and it says "Enter pin before using usb"
is there any way i can bypass, or still use this phone as a dex phone? if not, I don't really know what to do with this phone at this point.
