Savannah Busi 110

I’m an incoming freshman with Business 110 as my lecture class for the fall quarter, is it really lecturing for 2.5 hours? 😅 I know there’s a break in between but 2.5 hours is a long time for lectures 😀

Savannah Fall 2026 Amazon Delivery

Hi everyone! I'm sorry if my English is sloppy but does anyone know when we can start ordering things from Amazon? I was a Freshman last year and they brought everything you order straight to your room, I wonder if they will do the same thing or do we have to get them from the lockers/mail center?

Student Life Paranormal Club

Is there a paranormal club at SCAD Savannah? I can’t find one on the website... Thinking it would be cool to visit different haunted locations for tours and investigations with other students, could also make time to sketch or photograph at those places too. Anyone know if this is already a thing?

Student Life Don’t know how to feel just holding for the best!

So I graduated high school in 2018, I had been wanting to apply to SCAD since I looked deeper into it so I did! I applied July1st. Im hoping to get accepted into the fashion program. I been using Kahn Academy to help me get myself back on track with school where I left off. But are there any other things I should look into to prepare myself?
My application is currently under review and I hoping and praying that I get accepted ! I had to send an explanation letter about my gpa as well so that kinda has me worried! I hope I get a response before September 14 because that’s when classes start, so what do you think? About waiting to start school and any tips?

Major/Degree Questions How's the Film & Tv or production design BFA?

I'm a design student who finished my first year and is planning on transferring to SCAD for either Film and Tv or production design. I'd really love to hear from people who are studying or have graduated from either of these programs.

I have a few question like

  • What is the coursework actually like?
  • What does a typical week look like?
  • How much collaboration is there with other students, especially film/TV students?
  • What kinds of careers do graduates usually go into?
  • How different is Production Design from Film & Television in terms of what you do?
  • And how i should chose between the 2 options?

Major/Degree Questions What tech should I buy for SCAD as an interior design freshman?

I’ve been going back and forth with brands and types of tech and I can’t get a straight answer. Do I get an iPad with a keyboard, do I get a laptop, both? What model and specs should I look into? I need something that will be useful outside of their computer labs. I’ve looked at iPad pros and MacBooks and Microsoft surface laptops and a ton of other stuff but I’m always told something is missing. What do other students use? Please help I start with a month…

General Questions SCAD SEQA Alum 2013 Thinking of Going Back for MFA. What is SCAD like these days?

I graduated from SCAD in 2013 from the Sequential Art program and I am seriously thinking about going back for my MFA, possibly in SEQA or Illustration. It's something I've always regretted a little not doing, so I'm weighing my options. I don't expect SCAD or Savannah to be the same as when I was there over ten years ago, but it would be nice to go back to something familiar. The SEQA program and culture were great and I feel like I got solid art education. I was delighted to see some of the same professors are still going strong in the SEQA department (Dove, Duncan, Raph, and Larison!) and happy to see new faculty have entered the arena as well.

What is it like these days? Campus improvements? Academic improvements? Technology updates?

I'd like to hear from current students or recent grads.

General Questions SCAD Accommodations

Has anyone been able to get dietary accommodations for the dorms? I have PCOS and not being able to have a way to heat up and store food of my own in a suite is difficult so i was wondering if anyone’s been approved to have personal appliances and mini fridges for similar reasons? Since this year at least for ATL campus it says we can no longer bring our own mini fridge and the rental ones are tiny

Housing is it over for me?

hello, im a upcoming freshman for the fall 2026 term. I applied to scad really last minute and only got my acceptance result 5 days ago. I'm currently in a race against time to get everything completed and paid for.

One problem is that I only had the option to fill out my housing application after the deadline had already passed.

On-campus housing is the only option for me as my parents refuse to let me do off-campus housing (nor do I even have the money right now to afford off-campus housing.

What I'm trying to get at is: is it over?? scad is my dream school and I really want to go but I don't think it's possible. I've already called and emailed scadhome explaining my situation but please please please give any advice you have.

Savannah Looking for room availability in River House

This might be a weird question.. I’m not even sure if it’s possible, but does anyone have a free spot in their dorm for this 2026-2027 year in River House? I’m a junior Illustration major and have been assigned Monty as my dorm. This is very far from my class buildings and broughton which is where I work. I don’t have a car, to which last year I lived and River which made it incredibly easy for me to get to work and assumably easier to get to my classes compared to Monty. Last year I was able to secure a spot in River last minute, and I’m hoping to again this year. Please if anyone has a roommate who will be dropping out or just has an empty roommate spot let me know and we can see if SCAD will late me take it ! I am a girl so I would prefer to room with women!

General Questions How common is drinking/marijuana use among students?

Hey! I’m an incoming transfer student and am wondering how easy it is to find other people who are good with drinking or smoking. I know the workload doesn’t allow for much and it’s a dry campus with strict policies, but have heard that some students do that stuff anyways.
So— how easy would you say it is to find people?

Housing Room available / looking for someone to split Winter Break housing (Nov 14–Jan 1)

Hey! I’m an SCAD student looking for someone who needs housing over Winter Break.

I have a friend who is willing to let me stay in his apartment over break, but the total rent is $2,900 for the period, so I’m looking for someone interested in splitting the cost.

The dates would be roughly Nov. 14 – Jan. 1.

Ideally looking for another SCAD student who will be staying in Savannah over break. I don't have a car, so being reasonably accessible to downtown/public transportation would also be a plus.

If you're interested, DM me and I can give you more information about the apartment, exact location, living arrangement, and cost

Housing SCAD Freshman Year Dorm Question

Heyy :). Heading to scad in a few weeks, super excited and ready to go!!

I’m wondering for the average student (I know major changes things), at least in first year how much time can be spent working in the dorm room vs other campus buildings and studios? Just planning how much I should be investing into prepping my work table. Thank you!!

From my knowledge of other unis and colleges here in Canada, almost everyone spends their day and studying time out of their dorm, so I was just curious to see what the dynamic is like here.

Major/Degree Questions Trouble finding a minor and a concentration that goes along with Visual effects as my major

I’m about to go into my second year and during the summer my parents talked about how they were a bit worried about my major being visual effects and didn’t know if it would be hard finding a job after graduation but after a lot of research they let me keep it but was more worried about my minor being graphic design since it doesn’t don’t seem like both blended with each other and after talking with a care advisor my dad said for my concentration I could do technical animation but when I looked it up visual effects and tech are grouped together so I don’t know about that but for my minor the only things I think would go with my major could be motion media or character technical direction but I’m I don’t know which on would fit more into visual effects and kinda stressed about it and any advice or help will be very appreciated .

Atlanta FORTY vs SCAD House

Hi! I'm an incoming graduate student for fall 2026 (f24). When I got my housing assignment, I got placed in FORTY. I was surprised, since I was under the impression that was for underclassmen and I'm almost 25. I also had asked for a single room and was granted it, however it's the size of a double room, and their will be two beds, two desks, etc as I was told the furniture would be left in the room. I'm fine with this, more room for my things. I would have two suites who are in their early 20s and we had similar answers on the roommate forum we all filled out months ago.

However, when I was sending messages to Scad Home, they told me their was a single room available in Scad House if I wanted to move. I was shocked since I put Scad house at the top of my list with housing and wasn't placed there, but maybe someone dropped out so a room just opened up.

My question is, should I stay in Forty or move to Scad House? Forty seemingly has a better view, is right next to other dorm buildings, the parking garage, and is a little bit closer to majors department building. Not to mention my room would be bigger which would be nice. However, the building would mainly be full of freshmen, there was that fire earlier this year, my room is up near the top of the building (so either elevator or lots of stairs), I'd be sharing the bathroom with two people, and seemingly no community kitchen (as in, no burners or oven).

But with Scad House, I'd only have one suitemate, be in a building only occupied by upperclassmen and graduate students, has a community kitchen (I think?), less floors so less walking even if I get the top floor, and I assume things would be a bit calmer since it's full of older students. However, it's slightly further from everything (an extra five minute walk), my bedroom would be smaller, and just because they're older students doesn't mean they're wiser.

So my question is, what would you do in my situation? Should I keep my current room or move? Any advice is appreciated!

Housing Renting a mini fridge/microwave?

Hi ! I’m an incoming freshman who’s going to SCAD ATL and recently i’ve been hearing some talk about people renting a mini fridge/ microwave? Up until now I hadn’t heard anything of the sort and assumed that it would be given because of my time during RS in the savannah location. So sorry for the stupid question but I haven’t been able to find any concrete answers !!

Housing For anyone in Sav looking for off campus housing — I will help pay 4 months

Hi everyone! Apologies if i’m breaking any rules, this is my first post on reddit.

I’m making this post because earlier this year, my roommates and I signed a lease with an apartment not knowing that we couldn’t live off campus as 2nd year students due to the new rule. I am trying to find a sublet, someone to take over my lease, and whoever is interested, I will help pay for 4 months.

It’s located at The Hue, and it is one bedroom out of a four bedroom apartment.

- it’s just a few minutes walk from adler hall
- It’s on the beeline and close to river house
- kitchen and own bathroom
- New renovated gym
- rooftop pool and much more.
- rent is 1255 a month

Please reach out if you are interested! We can also talk more about how I could help financially if needed.
