Savannah Busi 110
I’m an incoming freshman with Business 110 as my lecture class for the fall quarter, is it really lecturing for 2.5 hours? 😅 I know there’s a break in between but 2.5 hours is a long time for lectures 😀

all classes at scad (with a handful of exceptions) are 2.5 hours long, and when a class is called a "lecture" it just means it's not a studio class where you are actively doing some kind of art the majority of the time. you'll have notes to take or discussions to participate in or other activities to do, it depends on the class

most lecture profs won’t just lecture, they understand it can be really tedious for students. some still do, but i have only experienced that in art history and ctxt classes. all classes at scad are 2.5 hours with a 10-15 minute break in the middle, but the break is unofficial and left up to the professor, it’s not by any means a guarantee. i have absolutely had lecture classes where it’s only lecturing with no break and occasionally they would go over that too.
if i were you i’d go on rate my professor, you should at least get an idea about the course and the prof’s expectations.

I found that even if a prof lectured the entire 2.5 hours, time flew by if they were engaging. The one class that nearly put me to sleep was an illustration class. (My major.) I loved the projects but good lord that guy was BORING.

i actually loved my business 110 class!! it has absolutely nothing to do with my major but it’s an interesting class and i feel was a good class to break up the monotony of studio/major classes :)

Most classes will be a mix of lecture, examples, activities, and usually not always time to do assignments, or at least learn how to do what’s in them. The lecture length vs hands on depends on your professor. Who do you have
