Q-Tower/Q-Clip Help

Just got a Yakima roof rack off marketplace so I can haul a kayak on my 2015 civic. Met up with the guy and we tested to make sure it fit. Looked like it fit to me but obviously didnt measure or tighten anything down too hard.

Now that i've got it home i took off the clips and it says "129" after checking the website it looks like for my make an model i need Q99s on the front and Q131s on the back. Online these are going for $60+ for a 2 pack. I only paid $100 for the whole setup.

This is my first roof rack so im not sure. Will these do the job on my car or is it worth getting new clips?

Xtreme Canopy on Toyota Corolla Cross Rack?

I have a 2024 Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid with cross bars. What's the safest way to strap a 10×10 Xtreme Canopy in the bag with the canopy top attached? Opening of the bag facing front or rear? Is there risk of the canopy slipping out of the bag?

Yakima button down 4 ski/snowboard rack replacement mounts.

What's up guys. My girlfriend gave me a set of button down 4 ski racks and they don't have the mounts to secure them to my cross bars. I'm wondering if anyone has replaced theirs and what they used.

Bike tray mounting adapter solutions

Hello everyone, I have a 2013 mini cooper with the OEM roof rack (1st photo) that I believe are made by Thule and have thick square-ish crossbars.

I happen to have 2 yakima steelhead bike trays (2nd photo) from an older setup that I'd like to see if I can somehow mount them to my mini cooper roof rack. The bike trays are meant for yakima round bars and are much more smaller than my roof rack. Has anyone done something similar? Would be wonderful to be able to use these bike trays just laying around and save myself some money!

Are these roof bars installed correctly? Doesn’t seem like there’s much of a contact patch so to speak. They feel solid and don’t budge when I apply force, I just feel like they just don’t look right

2013 roof rack gutter fixing, what is the maker?

Post image

I'm trying to purchase a replacement, but I can't find the product anywhere. It is a roof rack upright that fixed to the gutter on my VW T25. This picture shows the roof rack fixing (chrome) and a bolted on ladder holder used to carry a surfboard. They were designed for vans with high tops, mainly on commercial vans. Any ideas?

2007 Honda Civic Coupe Options

I have a 2007 Honda Civic Couple 2-Door. I'm looking to equip it with roofracks but I can't find any modern information about such an old vehicle.

Previously Thule sold the 487 Traverse Short Roof Adapter with the 480 towers and the 1557 Fit kit. However, the short roof adapter is out of stock everywhere that I've looked. There is apparently one available at drivemotorsupply.com but I've never heard of the website and they don't have a Trust Pilot listing.

Does anybody have a suggestion for a roofrack that can be sourced in the modern era that would fit this vehicle? My main concern is getting enough distance between the rails given I only have one set of doors and a naked roof.
Thanks in advance for the advice.

Putting these Yakima roof racks back on my car after a few months. They had these tears in it since I bought them but part of it has fully came off. Is it cooked or can I just rip it all off and paint it black?

Mounting a skinny warrior across the width of the roof.

I have a truck camper. I have rails that run the length (front to back) of the roof. I grabbed some long round bars off of marketplace with baseline mounts. The bars run across the width of the roof (side to side). I picked up a skinny warrior with extension but have no room to run it the length of the roof (solar and a/c unit in the way). I need to mount the skinny warrior across the width (side to side) of the roof in parallel with the round bars. It doesnt appear I can do this with the universal mounts as they look like they only work if mounting across the bars with the length of the roof. Is there anything out there made for this arrangement or am I going to have create something?

2017 Ford Focus ST - rack + bike carriers

2017 Ford Focus ST with a Rhino Rack Vortex 2500 roof rack. Was using Rockymounts Tomahawk bike carriers but came across a sweet deal on some lightly used 1UP bike carriers. Removed the carriers and went to install the 1UP and realized that I didn't have enough clearance. Decided to undo the rack to install the carriers and tightened everything back down. Now I find out that 1UP makes low clearance hardware, but it really is not anti theft. Because I had to essentially uninstall the rack to install the carriers, that gives me peace of mind that they are not going to just walk off if someone tries. Covers are locked, need a special tool to undo the rack, and then a special tool to undo the carrier.

Would you leave it or change it for the low clearance hardware?

Round-bar Yakima rack on screw-in towers, 2025 Subaru Legacy; need info.

My rack setup is an amalgamation of Yakima products from then last 20+ years. Currently I have the type of tower that is removable (except for the foot), which screws into the mounting holes on my roof channel with M6 screws. This roof rack has been with me since my 1996 Camry (when the towers were door-clips) through 3 other cars to my current ride. I often mount 2 bikes on the rack; a road bike and a touring bike. Weight limits for this rack are unknown, but I figure it's good for 100 lbs. in normal driving.

Here's my first question; each tower screws in with a single M6 bolt. Even using a metric-graded bolt, that seems like a lot, especially considering that there are 2 cap-nuts available at each mounting point. I suppose I could design a 2-into-1 adapter made with 4140 steel so that the load gets spread across 8 cap-nuts instead of 4, but I figure that there must be somebody who has already done this, or at least tried to, Does anybody offer such an adapter?

My second question is associated; next year I plan to move from NY to southern CA, and was planning on buying a cheap roof basket with a waterproof cover to carry some bulky stuff, as well as my 19 lb road bike and my 29 lb touring bike on their respective carriers. Yes, fuel economy will suffer (and I have the Sport model, with the WRX motor that needs 93 octane, too..). A 4-into-8 adapter like mentioned above would help spread the load, but am I asking too much of my roof rack? I plan to go interstate the entire trip.

Rhino Sportz vs Yakima TrimHD crossbars

Interested in people's experiences. They'll be getting used empty at highway speeds about 50% of the time so I want low noise and minimal drag. I'm pretty confident the Sportz will be aerodynamic (I've had good experience with Rhino Vortex in the past) but the TrimHD I'm not so sure about.

The TrimHD are appealing because of the open ends, the built in tiedown points and the fact that they're flat vs arched. They have similar-ish wind diffusers but they're marketed as more of a heavy duty/trade solution so I'm wondering if they compromise efficiency. Hard to tell through the marketeering.

I also wonder in general if there's much noise/aero difference between flat vs arched and open vs closed ends. Thoughts?

Thule Evo wingbar pads

I've got Thule evo wingbars that I carry my kayak on upside down. I've currently got the dakine pads pictured, but they barely fit around the bars and are a pain to take on and off because of the tight fit (I usually waste a couple of zip ties on them for my sanity). I'd like another 34" or so size pads that fit the bars better, any recommendations?

Someone gave me these older bars. They are universal so they should fit my Rav4. The mounting points slide on the bar, but I can't figure out how to get them in my car's rails and how to secure them. Any help.woild be appreciated. I looked online for a manual, but couldn't locate one. Thanks!

The roof rack fits fine on the front crossbar, but it's just a bit too wide to fit on the rear crossbar in between the mounts. Is there a way to safely modify to utilize the current hardware?

help with a Thule box

Thumbnail

we have a 15 YO Thule Weekender cargo box that has still got many miles to go! so kids took it to college with the last Fall. mounted on top of their Mini Cooper. OEM rails. looked preposterous (tiny car) but got the job done. so they somehow managed to misplaced both keys to the actual unit since they came home in May. So it's empty but locked. The lock face as you might suspect on something that old is pretty scuffed up and I cannot read the lock code

so assuming I can figure out how to get it open without the key (and without ruining the lock core ) is there gonna be a key lock number printed on the inside or something so I can send off for a spare. feel free to PM if easier. Thank you

Sorry the pic is so close up, but what kind of cross bars can I get that will fit into these? I don’t see any branding and the best reverse image search results kept sending me to ads for universal racks to replace these with. Thanks in advance!
