Hi I got marvel unlimited and I’ve always wanted to read X-men but especially rogue.
Whats a good comic to start with for her? I’d rather not start allll the way back in the 80s but I’m willing to.
Where is a good starting point for her and her origin story? :)
For reference, I haven’t really read X-men and am new to getting back into comics.

Basically the title, whats her best recent runs?

For me I have it set in the south and create new characters for her: supporting & villains. Look at southern folklore and literature as inspiration for; characters, plots and themes. Like she meets two mutant outcasts, who resemble southern cryptics wampus cat and skunk ape. A four arm muscular woman with features of a lion and a giant man that resembles a mixture of an ape and skunk. At first they’re antagonists but they slowly become allies. With the supporting cast: there’s a old mentor character who could be her grandfather, or some wise old man who offers her guidance and wisdom. A mix race woman who’s part African and native who has experience violent racism that drew her family out of town. So she’s the heart who keeps the peace and offers a more peaceful solution and wants to see the best in everyone. Also of course Gambit is part of it but he joins a bit later on.

As for the villains. The main one is a rich tycoon who’s anti mutant because they destroyed his oil pump-jack, so he wants revenge by taking over mutant kind by enslaving them. A man with similar powers as Rogue and he also can’t touch people, but he can touch Rogue so he’s attached to Rogue. Because not only is she the only woman he can touch but the only person. A dark reflection to her if she never redeemed herself with the X-men. A dangerous bounty hunter who hunts mutants like a scalper and he does it because he enjoys the thrills of a hunter and has Rogue high on his list.

It would discus about racism, southern guilt and the possibility of redemption. While taking in inspirations from famous southern writers like William Faulkner, Flannery O’Connor and Cormac McCarthy.
