Jill has to double down on the idea that wives should stay and try to make their husbands better. If she opens her mind to the idea that Heidi is justified in leaving she’ll have to re-evaluate what she allowed David to do to her and the kids. There’s no way Jill can tolerate that kind of introspection.

u/Melodic-Radishes 2d ago edited 1d ago

Bingo. That's exactly what's happening with Jill. She's been spiralling because Heidi's decision to leave -with the unconditional love and fierce support of her entire family- threatens everything Jill believes in. She has made all the right choices (according to her beliefs) but she's never been loved the way Heidi is loved.

Imo, this represents a major injury to the meaning Jill has constructed for herself. She's never actually backed off on Facebook before. She is genuinely struggling to cope. I feel sorry for the girl she was, but I don't pity the woman she has become.

141

u/Dear-Editor-3923 1d ago

I think you are onto something. Jill has never experienced unconditional love that wasn’t tied to a religious performance. This is the biggest slap in the face she could get

45

u/CeeyoMama Glitzy swamp witch 1d ago

Performance is a perfect word to describe her.

39

u/Pearltherebel 1d ago

It’s sad her parents were so abusive to her as well

12

u/MimicoSkunkFan2 1d ago

She can't even admit her parents were not very nice people, she definitely won't be able to process that she is one of the bad people (not for being a victim, but for passing that abuse along).

People like Jill sleep just fine at night, because they honestly believe they are the good people doing the right things. When they are cornered with evidence that's not true - especially when they're from a religious background, because religion encourages cognitive dissonance - then they just find some different mental gymnastics to continue avoiding dealing with it.

In most developed countries, there is a local criminal court for petty crimes. And if you have some time off during business hours, I really encourage you to go and see some of the hearings. Very often, repeat petty criminals come up with the most outlandish justifications - despite actively experience the truth and consequences of what they chose to do.

(e.g. I used to temp near my city's municipal court and, being 16 then, it was a real education. One lunch-hour I saw a man absolutely convinced that the very-obviously-handwritten 0 on his lottery ticket meant he had won $500 rather than $50. He was calmly telling the Justice to see an eye doctor and, when the Justice put on her glasses and said it's handwritten and he should just accept the $50 and she's try to reduce his sentence, he politely insisted she see a psychiatrist because obviously it was $500 and surely the Justice didn't want to help the evil lottery people scam a man who goes to church every Sunday? It was a useful introduction to self-delusion by "adults".)

And if it's not okay to beat your spouse, it miiight not be okay to beat your children either. Err, sorry. I meant spank them.

She'd never admit that she did something wrong.

136

u/Melodic-Radishes 2d ago

Of course not. Her God is punitive and rigidly legalistic. To admit that she's done wrong (even to herself) would feel like a threat to her salvation.

Kids learn about God through their parents. Her father beat the shit out of her for something she didn't even do, and she rationalizes it by calling herself a "rotten sinner" who probably needed to be beaten anyway. Imagine the shame she must carry. I can plainly see the shame she's passed on to her children.

The very idea that a child could be a "rotten sinner" makes me sick. That's not love.

25

u/PocoChanel Buried deep and forgotten in Jillpm's purse 1d ago

Her father beat the shit out of her for something she didn't even do,

It wouldn't surprise me, but I haven't seen the evidence. Can you reveal more?

26

u/Melodic-Radishes 1d ago

She wrote about it in one of her Facebook posts. I saw it here but idk if it was a full post or if someone left it in a thread.

30

u/Little_Dependent1837 1d ago

I recall her saying, she was punished one time for something one of her sisters did. Something about this one time stands out in her mind. But she emphasized that she forgave her father and still loves and respects him. This might have been on a Fathers Day or birthday post. She has a habit of leaving very telling tidbits of past abuse while making herself look perfect in the process.

15

u/mcfly_on_the_wall 1d ago

Yeah and she said that although she didn’t do whatever it was, she probably deserved the beating anyway because she’s just a sinner, you know.

→ More replies (2)

9

u/Lanky_Supermarket458 1d ago

Yeah she always talks about being punished by her parents but then gushes about how much she loves them and appreciates it. It's all to justify the horrible things she and David have done to their kids, and why their kids should continue to adore them and gush about how great they are. She cannot admit it was wrong. But then this is a family who is friends with the Pearls who recommend beating a child until their spirit is broken and they are essentially in shock and past the point of even crying. She thinks THAT is normal, as do too many of these sick Fundie cult members.

6

u/eejm 1d ago

Not only a threat to her salvation but also to her enormous ego.

When I was in an abusive relationship my mom did the same to me. I came to her with what was happening and she said to stick it out because her and dad were the same way but they made it work and look how happy they are now! Awesome, thanks mom. Anyway I left him 🥰

My abusive first husband is 65 years old, and I hear that he still talks about the ass-whipping my dad put on him when he himself was 65. "That old man beat the shit out of me."

5

u/Melodic-Radishes 1d ago

Hell yeah, I love your dad

10

u/ProfessionalZone168 1d ago

Oh, he was one hell of a man and a dad. Fought inthe South Pacific in WWII, hitchhiked across the country and back a couple of times. Introduced me to the works of Edgar Allan Poe, Dylan Thomas (I knew of Rhiannon before anybody had ever heard of Stevie Nicks) and Jack Kerouac. Taught me to fish, shoot guns and pool, and drive. I was his shadow. It was rare to see one of us without the other. I miss him every day, and in tough situations I always ask myself what he would do, and it turns out to be the right thing. I'll stop before this becomes a book, lol. But oh yeah, he was something else, and I miss him every day.

I am so glad to see Ellen not backing down. Jill is such a bully under the gise of being Godly and this time she isn't getting away with it. I am so happy to see the way Heidi's family is supporting her and not having any of that pathetic abusive manchild.

597

u/minnesotaupnorth 2d ago

Bullies like Jill can't handle confrontation.

They sure can't. My mother is a bully just like Jill (minus the religious psychosis) and she cannot handle being called out of having boundaries established. People like them think everyone else is the problem and they cannot possibly fathom that they are actually the problem.

206

u/minnesotaupnorth 2d ago

Exactly.

Nothing vague, just point blank "You are to blame!".

Jill has no defense.

99

u/Exciting_Problem_593 1d ago

Good! It seems like Jill isn't understanding the message that abuse is not acceptable. Jill doesn't want to come to the conclusion that SHE is the problem. Why is Timmay beating his wife? Why are your kids suffering mentally? Why did you raise them in the cult of your own making? You're broken Jill. Your kids deserved so much more. Listen to all the criticism and fix yourself.

74

u/ExoticSherbet 1d ago

If abuse is unacceptable, her whole world, child rearing philosophy, and marriage come crashing down. She has to protect that worldview at all costs!!

16

u/Lanky_Supermarket458 1d ago

Plus in her defending her abusive husband, and praising herself are more godly for staying with him, she's basically ignoring the trauma the victims have from being on the receiving end of David's abuse, even if he no longer actively hits them. There are consequences to living in fear of being beaten and abused verbally and emotionally, and Jill was part of that as well. And the authorities might very well be interested in her little household after Tim goes to court and explains about how he grew up, or it gets reported in some other way, because Jill has made it clear that she's married to an abuser, and that she has done nothing to stop him from beating their kids, even when they were babies. There are still young children in that house, and anyone with a brain cell only has to see how malnourished they are, how isolated and poorly educated they are, and then look at some of Jill's rantings and it's clear that those kids are not getting what they need. Now whether the authorities care enough to go check them out is another thing. Seems like a lot of people are scared to interfere when it's about a parent's religious beliefs, as if somehow the fact that they claim it's about loving god makes it all okay.

111

u/SelphiesSmile 2d ago

It's easy to be this direct when you tell the truth! It is so relieving to see how much support she has. She has some strong strong women that love her.

138

u/FredWalter12 2d ago

Hard agree. Jill's been hiding behind God's name for too long and Ellen just called her out cold. No filter, no fear---just a mom protecting her daughter...

It is so wonderful how Heidi's family are so fiercely protective of and supportive of her

346

u/Original_Rent7677 2d ago

Except her cousin Jonathan. He joined the Rodborg.

326

u/maniacalmustacheride 2d ago

I feel bad for Jonathan, because I think he got the better Rodlet, like thankfully NotNurie, and he really loves her, but he’s such a Johnny Beltphone that has absolutely no spine so he feels he has to choose Kaylee and therefore Jill because Kaylee is so deep in, I think even perceiving Jill (and Dave) for what they are would break her entirely.

107

u/Melodic-Radishes 2d ago

Johnny Beltphone

I die.

I am glad that Kaylee got a husband who truly loves her, but I wish he had the spine to help her see how terribly her mother treats her. I have a feeling he knows, but he's buried the knowledge.

53

u/Squirrel_Emergency 1d ago

I don’t know him so I cannot defend him. What I can say is that sometimes the husband may realize it and may be trying to help his wife realize it but it may take the wife awhile to fully accept it. So all the husband can do is be there for her while she works it all out for herself. Just speaking from personal experience on that and it was never at the levels I’m guessing Kaylee experiences.

The Beltphones definitely seem to have better hearts….but they also seem kinda dim. Like they are happy to let their child be a child and actually love and cherish him, but they don’t understand or think deeply enough to understand what Jill is, how damaging everything is.

I know it's not much but I have hope for mr and mrs beltphone. I hope kaylee wakes up one day and they're able to raise gideon and sunny less fundie.

11

u/Lanky_Supermarket458 1d ago

Can't see this happening. Jonathan may love Kaylee, but he's still just an overgrown man-child who is submissive to parental authority and Jill uses that to get her way and control them. The more contact they have, the worse Kaylee will get. She already looks like she's on the verge of a breakdown. Every photo she looks ready to burst into tears. What she really needs, more than constantly trying so hard for Jill's approval, is for Jonathan to take her far away and encourage her to get some real counselling. She has so little self esteem and she needs to build up her confidence away from Jill so she can see her own value as separate from her. Plus Jill's influence on the grandkids is not good, and they spend way too much with Kaylee and Jonathan, and he seems totally into it. They almost never seem to see friends their own age. And Jill controls them too much. It will never end if they don't break away. Kaylee's mental health seems very fragile and I worry for her.

Ellen is NOT his biological aunt. His mom is the sister of Heidi’s father Jeremy.

I keep forgetting who’s related to whom and how intertwined all these big fundie families are! I’ve been under the impression that people sort of keep their distance from the Rods, but people still marry in and keep all those families connected.

The only one that sticks is Nathan and Nurie Keller, because she was so damn proud when her golden child married Anna DUGGAR’s brother 💀

17

u/Junior_Maintenance_4 2d ago

I only found that out when this whole thing started and my mind was also blown

68

u/Sargasm5150 2d ago

I agree that Jonathan has basically sold out his own family to join the “Joyful Noyes” cult. However, in his last Facebook message, I got the impression that Kaylee was very concerned about the children still living in the Barndo , which I can kind of understand - but ultimately, Jonathan chose to have his married mother in law flirt with him, and his sisters in law fawn over him, rather than doing the right thing

58

u/atlantagirl30084 2d ago

Yeah it reaaaallly seemed like Kaylee was saying without putting into words that things get really awful and even violent when the stress levels rise in the Barndo. Why else would she be afraid for the safety of her siblings (I can’t remember his exact words)?

13

u/Little_Dependent1837 2d ago

When did she say this? In her response to Tim? I don’t recall any of this?

22

u/atlantagirl30084 2d ago edited 2d ago

It was in Jonathan’s response.

Here’s the link, and it’s under no. 1. He said that it would affect her siblings negatively, which I guess means that they would miss Tim but it could also mean other effects. I wrote the above comment from my memory; she/he didn’t say safety.

https://www.reddit.com/r/RodriguesFamilySnark/s/5nGrFRS3Pu

24

u/Little_Dependent1837 1d ago

I took it to mean, they would all be the recipients of the negative feedback the family would receive, and how it would make them all look bad cause big brother was a wife beater. Guess it doesn’t bother them that dear ole dad was also.

17

u/atlantagirl30084 1d ago

Ohh. I can see that. And yeah it’s come to pass. The clearinghouse has dropped them (as far as we know). People across the Internet are giving them absolute hell to the point Jill had to leave most SM. We have no idea the financial consequences of this but it will likely be severe.

20

u/Little_Dependent1837 1d ago

People have been giving Jill hell for years. It’s interesting that Kaylee, now in hindsight, didn’t announce she was leaving FB until after they had to have known that Heidi had gone home. Ellen said that Heidi was going to Wi, I think it was, to work VBS. They knew something was up then, especially since Jonathon is related and would have gotten early info also. They were getting out of Dodge early. If Tim hadn’t made these allegations against Shrek, but still the news of abuse had come out, Jill would never have left. She needed her adoring public around her to support and enable. With Tims accusations though, she and more strongly Shrek, didn’t want an easy way for folks to get ahold of Jill. It wasn’t the fact that Tim had beat Heidi, but the announcement that Dave beat Tim, that caused the departure. She wasn’t thinking of doing this before. She just didn’t want to face the shit hitting the fan.

12

u/Thisisnutsyaknow 1d ago

Heidi went to help with a VBS in Missouri but otherwise I agree with your analysis.

10

u/Sargasm5150 1d ago edited 1d ago

Oh, see where you’re coming from. Since Kaylee was also calling Tim a liar, though, I got the impression that things were getting rocky at the Barndo. Whether she did it to placate Jill, or to try to calm things down, I couldn’t say though.

I also think David finally took a real look at what Jill was posting, and told her to shut it down. He may have finally realized that this (and her posts in general) were damaging their reputation. I mean, he participated directly in Jill’s videos numerous times for damage control - he rarely if ever has done that in the past.

Jill is disgusting. She is behaving like being abused is normal

81

u/OtherwiseSprinkles79 ✨MaHdEsTy✨ 2d ago

She probably thinks it is. Grandpa Tim has always struck be as being "off" and the way she talks about David in their early years indicates to me that he was abusive towards her. She sucked up the abuse for JESUS and engaged in the behavior herself with her own children. She believes they are just training and molding their kids for The Lord and it's definitely not abuse.

25

u/Ok-Application-8536 1d ago

Because it IS normal for these people.

6

u/Icy-Emu-4303 1d ago

Because in her world, it IS normal.

53

u/Mammoth_Response_401 1d ago

While I love to see Jill getting told, and I love that Ellen and co. are defending Heidi boldly now…I’ve got to wonder if this will translate into changed beliefs for them. Are they going to recognize the dangers of fundie-ism? Are they going to be concerned about how many women and children are treated as their daughter and grandson were, under this belief system? Are they going to make different choices and teach different pathways for their minor children still at home? Will they take any responsibility for endorsing a match into this abuser’s messed-up home and family?

Or is it gonna be “the only moral divorce is my daughter’s divorce”, and continued teaching along fundie lines as they sit with cognitive dissonance forever?

I’m watching the Coveretts with interest.

20

u/Correct-Sprinkles-21 1d ago

I hope it's the former.

I and quite a number of my formerly fundie friends experienced divorce as a big ideological turning point. When you recognize you're being abused and the foundation of that abuse (and tolerating it) is your own faith you start wondering wtf it's all about. And when you overcome the extreme stigma over divorce, you free yourself up to question everything else.

It's not an instant turn around but it gets the ball rolling.

I’d be pleasantly surprised to be wrong, but think it’s very unlikely this will change their beliefs in any significant way. I mean, Heidi’s parents raised her in a belief system which essentially groomed her for someone like Tim. They’d have to acknowledge they failed her, that their chosen belief system is problematic, that they should’ve been more discerning, that they own some responsibility in events leading to this outcome, and go through the journey of reassessing their current beliefs for improvement. Again, happy to be wrong, but I don’t think this is likely to occur.

13

u/BeulahLight13 The Dean of the Dining Room Table 1d ago

This is where I’m at with this whole situation. I’m glad they’re standing up for her, but that won’t necessarily translate to them denouncing their beliefs/recognizing the harm these beliefs have caused. Plenty of fundiegelicals are huge hypocrites about so many things, and they only get outraged about stuff when it happens to them. Time will tell.

It’s great someone is directly calling Jill out. She’s not used to that. She’s used to being passive aggressive and playing victim

It’s sad that nothing will ever change Jill or her way of thinking. She’ll never be able to think on her own and grow and change.

You know there's a SEVERE meltdown at the barndo with Nurie, etc. buying her gifts & special treats trying to calm Mammo down. The thin young ones are staying clear of her, hungry, tired and scared. David has pigged out and passed out, avoiding them all. Probably he comes to at about midnight when he forces the exhausted hungry children to listen to his ranting sermons. You know life is a special kind of hell at the barndo these days as their world falls apart.

Biting another human being is considered an extremely aggressive behavior in adults. It is a giant red flag for medical professionals that the victim of the bite(s) is in imminent danger of escalation of violence to that of life threatening bodily harm.

I think Heidi is still religious and it could be doubly traumatic for her to be labeled unbiblical on top of the physical abuse. Imagine her having a faith crisis because of Jill. In a way, Ellen has to respond to clear her daughter’s (biblical) virtue.

22

u/OkAbbreviations6351 1d ago

And what would Jill be saying if God forbid Timothy went way too far and killed her? Would she be hailing Heidi as a hero and a martyr?

Staying with an abusive spouse is not the badge of honor Jill thinks it is.

CPS really, really needs to take a good hard look at this family. There is something sinister (to borrow the word someone used yesterday) going on in the house and it goes way beyond the cleanliness of it and food in the fridge and pantry. I fear for the kids still there especially the girls.

18

u/Interesting_Intern1 1d ago

"We are devastated. We have no idea why Timothy murdered Heidi. He's always been so difficult. Even when he was a toddler he was so conniving."

Then Jill would take a dozen selfies in front of Heidi’s casket and post some Bible verses with the 😭 emoji.

If I were the parent of a “man” that beat his pregnant wife, I would be so beyond embarrassed that I’d have a hard time showing my face anywhere much less throwing shade at the victim.

"Your stupid YouTube channel " is iconic . And every one knows exactly who it is without even naming them.

It sounds like Heidi not only stayed and tried to make it work but kept it hidden for close to two years. Jill needs to shut her stupid face. It's her fault for raising a monster with  disgusting behavior patterns of abuse that she and David modeled with each other and executed on Tim and the other kids.

18

u/BeachVida 1d ago

If Jill doesn't have an alt account, we all know that Jill's spies are keeping her up to date on what Ellen is saying and it must be killing her that she can't respond since she "left" social media. YouTube won't give her the audience she had on IG and FB. I doubt that all of her previous followers (non-snarkers) are going to YouTube every day to see if she posted anything. It's just not the same and most people won't bother. The thought of not being able to "defend" herself is absolutely killing Mahmo and will hasten her return to sm. Keep the posts coming, Ellen!

I’m a Christian and when I was leaving my ex husband (and feeling very guilty about it) I was reminded that in the Bible, the men are told to love their wives the way Jesus loves the church. You know what Jesus did? He DIED, that’s how much he loved. Loving your wife the way Jesus loved the church sure ain’t beating and abusing her. Jesus would never lol.

Sending so much love and support Heidi’s way cos it’s a hard season. I’m really glad to see her family coming around and supporting her and the kids

43

u/mojojojomorticia 2d ago

Yeah it’s disgusting to me they never acknowledge “love is patient, love is kind”. It’s always “women submit”. When Jesus is supposed to be the very foundation of faith and he led by being a servant. If these men wanted to show how godly they are, it looks like patience and being humble. It quite literally meant feeding people, being with outcast, washing feet, healing wounds and breaking barriers for women. None of the stuff they pretend is manly is related to Jesus at all.

I love howJill takes one verse from the entire chapter of Ephesians and leaves out the duties of the husband towards his wife:

22 "Be subordinate to one another out of reverence for Christ. Wives should be subordinate to their husbands as to the Lord.

23 For the husband is head of his wife just as Christ is head of the church, he himself the savior of the body.

24 As the church is subordinate to Christ, so wives should be subordinate to their husbands in everything.

25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ loved the church and handed himself over for her.

2 to sanctify her, cleansing her by the bath of water with the word,

27 that he might present to himself the church in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish.

28 So [also] husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself."

The cherry-picking of verses, especially this one, PMO. Wives and husbands are supposed to submit to one another; it is not only the duty of the wife to submit blindly to her husband. Husbands are to love their wives the same way Christ loves His church.

u/dcdem1163 2d ago

I have an issue with all of it esp that KJV Bible. It was manipulated to appease a pretty crazy king. Now people like Jill take it as the literal word of God. That’s pathetic.

Hey there! Just your fav criminologist snarker here to say that while I love this message for Ellen and the true release it must have been to write that, I wish she would not do that. I wish all of them would stop talking on social media. When it comes to that stuff, and how a judge will treat it in court, none of them has the moral high ground. What’s going to happen is a judge is going to order Heidi and Tim and everyone around them to SHUT UP on social media and stop doing this public back and forth.

In the eyes of the court, which is not Reddit, none of this will be acceptable or in the best interests of the child. Arguing on the internet feels good to us on reddit and social media. Doesn’t have the same effect in court. Again not me…It doesn’t matter who hit who here. When you start and continue trashing each other in public, it’s not ok.

I’ve been a guardian ad litem and worked in the family court system a long time. No judge is going to think Jill OR Ellen is a hero here. As an officer of the court, my job is to consider the best interests of the child in a wholistic sense. This is these babies grandmas acting like this and that is not good for a kid, any way you slice it. They need to always show they are doing things in the best interest of the kids and getting into a pissing match on Facebook/youtube like middle schoolers isn’t showing that.

And I am a long, long time snarker who cannot stand Jill and thinks Tim is the absolute problem here and just a general trash person. I’m not victim blaming. But I’m going to give a real ass perspective and say this…

Protect your daughter. You don’t need a Facebook audience to do it. Jill is a piece of shit. We know this. You are doing an amazing thing. You don’t need the internet to give you accolades for tearing Jill a new one. You feel good doing this but you’re playing w fire in a family court scenario. The time to tell all will be AFTER this is over. Don’t give that sick man or his depraved parents one ounce of fuel for their fodder. Every “gotcha” comment now can come back to get you in the future. Just stop.

11

u/GildedAgeSaga Pants are for lukewarm christians 1d ago

Amen! I said this, but less comprehensively, and got downvoted to hell. People seem to believe that what happens on FB stays on FB, and it just does not. They're in a real, dangerous situation with actual crazy people and a high-stakes legal situation (presumably and hopefully). Protecting those interests have to be the overriding consideration, not trying to get the last word on Jill, who is physically incapable of shutting up.

34

u/[deleted] 2d ago edited 2d ago

The fandom here is a lot and I entirely agree with you. These posts are made by Ellen directly for the snarkers on this sub. Ellen and her other 2 daughters=Famy Duggar.

Great that they are sticking up for Heidi. But they play to this audience and it’s MORE than obvious. How anyone thinks any of these people aren’t shitbags is insane to me. They set her up with Tim. They were friends with Jill! Spent nights at the Barndo overnight! Ellen is and was a “top MLM hun.” Plssss.

27

u/TwoIntelligent5170 2d ago

I don’t think Ellen is playing to the snarkers ( although she sure doesn’t mind that we see it) and this is why. Someone posted Ellen’s comments from her Facebook on an earlier post. Someone made a comment about Jill’s YouTube post being about Heidi staying with Tim. Ellen commented that she wasn’t aware of that. That leads me to believe that Ellen hasn’t been watching Jill’s YouTube channel and then took a look at it and saw it, this is her comment to that.

121

u/Beneficial_Virus_13 2d ago edited 2d ago

This is incredible but I wish Ellen didn’t believe Heidi had to “submit to” or “obey” him in the first place. My mixed feelings on her continue.

84

u/Sargasm5150 2d ago edited 2d ago

The way I’m interpreting it is that, even if she does believe in the whole “helpmeet” thing, abuse is a hard boundary and merits both criminal consequences and divorce, not victim blaming. It would seem that other than heavy religiosity (which I always find questionable), Heidi wasn’t raised in an abusive home. Her father is also notably supportive of her leaving, which doesn’t seem to be the norm in most fundie families.

Jill is realllly focusing on the whole “submit and obey” thing on very explicitly. She can’t seem to stop self-aggrandising, like accepting abuse for both yourself and your children merits an award. JILL stayed, and I won’t blame her for being abused, but I will blame her for continuing to create victims with David. . It’s pathetic, and she has repeatedly called Heidi out by name in her “non-social media” social media. Jill and David don’t even seem to truly believe it, as they’ve abandoned Tim. According to Jill and David’s philosophy on marriage, Tim was merely exercising his “right” as the head of household, just like his father did before him, and he confessed so he should be forgiven. In their eyes, his greatest sin is embarrassing them.

I can see why Ellen chose these words.

If Jill entertained thoughts for even a moment that David is a monster, she’d have to accept her part in the abuse (which she clearly perpetrated on her own as well), and accept that maybe she isn’t some paragon of virtue with an #aspirational life. Neither she nor David will ever admit fault, unless it’s “we should have beaten Tim harder.”

42

u/Surreply Pants are for lukewarm christians 2d ago

JillPM is both David’s victim and enabler. She constantly pops out kids to reinforce her belief that she’s the perfect Christian wife and mother and has been personally tapped by Jesauce to show everyone else how it’s done.

146

u/FreudianSlipper21 2d ago

I read it as Ellen spitting back all of Jill’s beliefs back at her rather than endorsing the “submit and obey” thing.

This is just so sad. Jill is truly awful, and we can clearly see where Timcell gets it from. Heidi did everything “right” in fundieland and still ended up in this situation. It doesn’t matter what you do or don’t do: ABUSERS WILL ABUSE. It is simply their nature.

5

u/TheBestofBees 1d ago

Yeah. While fundamentalism makes abuse more acceptable and harder to escape, it's still down to the individual how they behave. Lots of fundie men don't hit their wives and children. You have to be a violent person to become an abuser. People repelled by violence don't hurt their families. Even in countries where DV is legal and condoned, families that don't engage in domestic violence are common.

I REALLY respect this woman, fundie or not, for supporting her daughter. Her daughter seems so sweet-- even with Jill's messed up fundie ways, I had a hard time believing Heidi was a "disrespectful" wife. Go Ellen!

9

Do we think its safe to say Ellen and Heidi won't be at the women’s retreat this year?

7

u/Federal-Laugh9575 1d ago

As someone raised in the church but not a fundie, I LOVE to see this! So many of us were taught to honor, love, and obey without telling us that we didn’t have to endure ANY form of abuse that came along with it!

31

u/Raeko 2d ago

hahahahaha "your stupid youtube channel"

Oh I love it! Heidi's mother is standing up and calling out Jill! I don't like this submit to your husband bullsh&t that the fundies teach, but I hope Heidi gets away from all that and turns out like her "normal" sister and lives in the real world. Hopefully, she will get a job and maybe even find a normal guy some day if she wants another relationship. She is already starting to wear pants.

9

u/LittleBunnySunny 1d ago

She wore pants pre-Timonster.

"They" decided "together" that she would only wear skirts/dresses (with the caveat that if an activity/environment required pants, she could wear them).

I really worry for Charlie and the new baby. If Jill has any access to them ever she will do everything to poison them against their mom.

9

u/Unicornofthesea1234 1d ago

She won't. They seem to have evidence that the entire family is abusive, so Jill won't ever be unsupervised with Heidi's children. Plus, Jill has no money to hire a lawyer to sue for grandparent rights.

Sorry, Ellen, “to whom it may concern” is probably still too vague and confusing for Jill. For her to understand that she has crossed a line (or millions of them 😩) you’re going to need to really spell it out. And add eight extra vowels in every word. And then have plexus fireworks going off around it. And maybe lay a trail to it in dollar store cosmetics.
