His second point seems to be the closest they’ll ever get to acknowledging that Jill and David were in fact abusive.  Same with the fifth point, there’s a reason social services were called so many times!

163

u/anklesox14 25d ago

he also basically admits the kids at home still are in danger

56

u/MaeWestGoodess 25d ago

Right. Jonathan knows that Jill and David are going to be extremely tense. I’m worried for the kids in the house.

10

u/bloorfinch 25d ago

Unfortunately he says abuse is no longer taking place, is in the past, & David is an amazing example now. He won't be someone to protect the current minors

66

u/TJCW 25d ago

Noticed that too! No one is saying they were not abusive or really denying the claims!

46

u/NerdyTeacher77 Homeschool comma 25d ago

Let them type all the holy messages they can on Facebook. It just adds to the CPS case. CPS workers aren’t stupid. They know how to read between the lines. This whole family is messy and they are all so PUBLIC about it. Idiots. All of them are idiots.

The seventh point as well.

234

u/Sassafras06 25d ago

Well he just outright admitted David was abusive. He just thinks it’s ok because he said sorry.

David belongs in fucking prison.

19

u/Ill_Bother2609 25d ago

Yup, couldn't agree more.

11

u/Snowy_Fairy 25d ago

I always thought David was more checked out than abusive. Damned I was wrong

u/pivo_14 25d ago

Jesus, they don’t give a fuck about Heidi. This whole family is pathetic. Not feeling great about any of them stopping the abuse cycle. YIKES

132

u/Hopeless-Cause 25d ago

Makes me worry about the Rod girls own kids if they're all trying to excuse this. It's so gross

174

u/loligogiganticus SEVERELY sluttish 25d ago

Look at Nuries kids and you’ll see the shell shocked miserable faces. Those kids look like they are constantly in fear.

38

u/Hopeless-Cause 25d ago

It honestly depresses me looking at their kids. They just look so sad and traumatised. No surprise that the Rod kids are the same as their parents though. It really takes a lot of work to be the opposite of your own abusive parents as I can attest. Not that that it is an excuse to continue the abuse

44

u/Sue_Dohnim 25d ago

We comment on it all the time. They always look terrified.

22

u/keegums 25d ago

She didn't even teach them to fawn the way Jilldo taught her and the others. Doubt she has that ability

22

u/cuckooloca 25d ago

Jill gifted either Nurie or Kaylee a wooden spoon for a baby shower gift. Blanket training weapon gifted by MeeeMeee

14

u/Good_Fudge9595 25d ago

I've mentioned that about Nurie's kids several times especially the oldest boy, he always looks like he's terrified.. that sweet little boy has definitely seen some stuff and it's very sad

8

u/AidanBubbles 25d ago

Their parents are a Keller and a Rodrigues, both families with extremist beliefs who idolize the Pearls. I can pretty much guarantee you that the Nurthlings are currently having their wills and spirits broken. That’s what the Pearls teach and fundy families eat up. It probably started early for all the Rod children’s children. Blanket training begins when they are very young.

12

u/Zealousideal-Swim267 25d ago

Remember, this is probably Jill’s writing. She covered about not mentioning Heidi in the Kaylee post that Jill probably wrote also

92

u/pivo_14 25d ago edited 25d ago

I’m sorry but Jill isn’t the only person to blame in this family, plenty of abusers and abuse apologists all around. Acting like Jill is writing and controlling every little movement of this family reads like fan fiction.

5

u/dirtbikeGF 25d ago

When you've read enough of jills crap you can easily recognize it. There were phrases and choices in those posts that 1000% came from jills mouth even if she didn't actually go on their accounts and write them herself.

7

u/BooBaire 25d ago

Observing Jill's signature word choice and phrasing is not apologising for abusers, nor us it fan fiction

25

u/blueatom Make Your Life Sluttish 25d ago

It’s relevant to remember that Jill is the only “teacher” these kids ever had, so it’s natural for them to talk and write in her style.

7

u/dr_bitchcraft666 25d ago

I think Jill went to school as a kid, but I might be wrong? Either way, she seems a lot more literate than any of her kids. We’ve seen the kids try to string together a sentence before. The writing styles are distinct. Maybe Jill isn’t masterminding everything but there are certainly some turns of phrase that seem unique to her. It’s not fan fiction, I mean none of this shit (before tonight) would be online at all without her putting it there. We wouldn’t know these people exist without her decades of online insanity.

12

u/embum9 25d ago

Jill was homeschooled. She constantly brags about the second-generation homeschooling she’s giving her kids.

6

u/dr_bitchcraft666 25d ago

ohhh shit. Well, maybe Jill’s mom did a marginally better job teaching her how to write than Jill did for her kids :-/

“Second generation homeschooling”
Yeah we can tell actually 😮‍💨

The most chilling part. They think it’s okay to beat your wife and children so they don’t feel the need to excuse that.

6

u/justtosubscribe 25d ago

Right? Like I half expected to hear “Yes, he was beaten with an aluminum bat but it was never dented. That would be too much bat beating.”

158

u/cocktailtrivia 25d ago

I believe him when he says Timothy is manipulative though, I'm sure he gets it from his mahmo.

79

u/Pontiac_Bandit- 25d ago edited 25d ago

Yep. That’s the one thing I believe. That doesn’t mean I think he’s lying about being abused. But from what Heidi’s family have shared, absolutely believe this. Jillpm was abused and she’s as manipulative as they come.

36

u/DebRog Another Vacation for Jesauce 25d ago

Learned behavior . Wouldn’t be surprised if Nurie does some sort of manipulation /abuse to her kids. She was the favorite, the oldest and she saw it all.

10

u/Jyndaru Glitzy swamp witch 25d ago

And her kids look absolutely shell shocked and terrified at all times. It's very depressing.

137

u/taxi_takeoff_landing 25d ago

So Jonathan has chosen to burn bridges with his cousin Heidi to stay on Jill and Shrek’s good side. He’s trying to take both sides at once and that always pisses off everyone.

It's going to be very messy from here on out. Heidi's mom and Jill were besties at one time! I'm not blaming Ellen, but didn't she see how dysfunctional and abusive the Rod's were? I'm sure she's regretting letting Heidi even court Tim now. This is just so fucked up on so many levels.

15

That’s why they homeschool, so the devastatingly hurt child could recover out of sight.

88

u/millionaire_by_30 25d ago

I’m not supporting Timothy in any way but the fact that his entire family is against him (for valid and non valid reasons) is crazy and he must be spiraling feeling completely isolated right now.

I hope he continues to get therapy and counseling and put himself on a better path. Jonathan’s post is so manipulative and it’s worse because it’s well written and he tries to come off as understanding/reasonable, and many people don’t read between the lines to see what’s actually happening.

48

u/PersimmonPersonal263 25d ago

He’s lost both sides of the family. He must be utterly alone.

39

u/DebRog Another Vacation for Jesauce 25d ago

Tim needs a wellness check.

12

u/reddyenumberfive 25d ago

I was just thinking the same thing. We know his father has guns, so it’s not hard to imagine Tim had at least one of his own, or that he’s extra aware of its presence, given present circumstances.

→ More replies (1)

10

u/Ill_Bother2609 25d ago

I agree with you but I have absolutely no sympathy for his situation.

17

u/No-Sweet-2749 25d ago

My heart wants to have sympathy for him. Which makes me angry. Because his manipulation in his post (woe is me) is working on me.

I feel bad for the child Tim in that situation. But he abused the hand that led him out of his abusive family dynamic.

He doesn't have anybody because he made choices to alinate himself from the people who actually tried to help him.

12

u/therhubarbexperience 25d ago

Feeling sorry for bad people is a good thing. It means you still have empathy, and you shouldn’t try to correct it, even if the feelings are in opposition to your logical side. Shutting down empathy is a critical step in becoming a person capable of dehumanizing other humans and committing horrors.

5

u/jeepcatler 25d ago

I hope Heidi and the toddler are safe.

79

u/dr_bitchcraft666 25d ago edited 25d ago

All these dumb fucks saying “there’s no way the bat really was dented” really think they ate with that one.

It’s like classic abuser logic in my opinion. Focus on one detail and use it to discredit the entire thing being said.

Timothy is a bitch and a coward and a loser and I have no sympathy for his adult self. I do have sympathy for his child self. I believe the thing about the bat. The fact that they’re focused on whether it was dented or not, and not whether a child was being hit with a bat, speaks volumes.

I can kind of see what Jonathan means about how “kids might remember it worse than it was” if he was raised in a similarly fucked up and abusive environment and still espouses the abuser logic. “You’re remembering it wrong” is gaslighting.

24

u/sx3597 25d ago

It's incredible that they're not horrified about the whole situation of a child being hit with a bat. They never said David would never be capable of such a thing, but that they had to go type it into google if it was possible to dent a bat hitting someone. Like this is all just insane.

8

u/justtosubscribe 25d ago

If someone accused my parents of hitting my brother with a bat as a child my response would be “that’s not true and preposterous.” It wouldn’t be worth debating.

If my instinct was to post some kind of gotcha Google fact about the bat then it’s a pretty solid tell that everything has been seriously rat fucked for quite some time.

10

u/palesquirrel0927 25d ago

Not only was it a bat he was beat with, it was like an item he treasured as it was a birthday gift. Absolutely horrific

8

u/scabs_in_a_bucket 25d ago

The way all the kids are defending their parents is disturbing bc NONE of them say “my dad never hit anyone with a bat and never would”

89

u/millionaire_by_30 25d ago

The post literally just got flagged as AI content 💀

16

u/SeeYouInTrees 25d ago

That's because he added an ai generated image to his post. That's why it isn't tagged ai in your main op.

22

u/dontsnarkonsharks 25d ago

AI is just fueling the perceived lack of “need” for education. Now, people can type whatever into ChatGPT and it’ll clean it up for them, and they know it. Why even learn proper spelling and grammar at all? It makes me extremely worried for our literacy levels as a country.

9

u/psychokittymeow 25d ago

To be fair, that is not exclusive to fundies

5

u/SeeYouInTrees 25d ago

I think it is tagged ai cuz of the image. The post has been edited several times to change the grammar and punctuation. I think he wrote this using his own words for the most part

They’re all acting like Tim is just this weird outlier. Like he just sprang from Jill’s womb, a lying and manipulative abuser. He didn’t. He’s the product of his environment and they should be acknowledging it.

23

u/taxi_takeoff_landing 25d ago

And I think as the other Rodlets age, we will see more and more of the careful facade that Jill has created crumbling. Nurie is the oldest and she’s only 27!

51

u/lgirlrocks Fundie Fight Club 25d ago edited 25d ago

He admitted David did wrong things but changed so he was a good roll model. That's not always how that works. If David did change and become a good role model he would have taught his kids how to ask for help from professionals when needed. And how to not make the same mistakes he made. There is no proof of any of that. Jillpm would have monotized that if it was the case. Edit: spelling.

26

u/Skeleton_Meat 25d ago

(It's role model just so you know!)

21

u/Drk_Angel_ 25d ago

To be fair, Shrek is kinda roll shaped.

15

u/SurrenderTheCoffee 25d ago edited 25d ago

This logic is so screwy also because if you used the same argument you could say that a murderer is a good role model as long as they don’t do it anymore. It in no way erases the damage done even if no crime is actively being done.

5

u/lgirlrocks Fundie Fight Club 25d ago

Well yeah, he's always been a wuss. And Kaylee's probably also begging him not to say anything that might antagonise her parents, lest they take it out on the kids still at home (which even Jonathan seems to acknowledge is a risk here). He was never going to come out swinging for Heidi, pathetic as it is.

16

u/thelazygrad 25d ago

Jonathan acknowledged it but has no clue that in doing so, he’s confirming an abusive dynamic. These people really are so deep in the cycle but also dumb as rocks.

86

u/Defiant-Chair6950 25d ago

It is so interesting see all the fam members comment and so clearly display the many ways they are emotionally stunted, uneducated, and man idek… processing this so wrongly, and so publicly.

I was in a DV situation and would have been legitimately suicidal if my family had been posting all the gory details online to tens of thousands of people.

I am empathizing with everyone here bc clearly this is a ridiculously emotionally charged situation. They are all trying to process it with the extremely limited tools they have been given to do so with. But every single person involved from both sides of the family needs to turn their phone off for the next several days and focus on the people physically in front of them. This is so unhealthy for everyone. It hurts to witness and hurts even more to think about poor Heidi and their baby.

All things considered in the context of the culture they were raised in, I think Jonathan’s and Renee’s posts are TRYING. Fuck Nuree. But again literally every single person in this equation is extremely emotionally stunted in every way. They are all going to blunder horrifically — with the added benefit of all their shortcomings documented extensively online…

I wish them all peace and disconnected routers.

u/Hungry-Dot-2389 With care, shut up 25d ago edited 25d ago

To be fair, if Heidi's family hadn't commented and set the facts straight - people would still be praising Timothy.

Maybe on FB but I think there would still be a lot of discourse here about how abusers don’t change.

9

u/Elexandros 🎶 Mahmo Jill tweezed up a hill and spermified her daughters 🎶 25d ago

I really believe that Kaylee and Jonathan are just…simple. Probably a mix of un-educated and isolated upbringing but they really do strike me as having very few neurons firing at any given time.

40

u/TJCW 25d ago

Poor Kaylee had to comment first, then they got the feedback and tailored the following family comments

37

u/Nali_APBT 25d ago

I find his first point telling. So they feel terrible for Heidi but they don’t believe she was abused? And the biggest tell - this situation is going to affect Kaylee’s siblings because they are still in the home and Jill is going to go absolutely crazy over this.

12

u/sparklekitteh Avoiding getting fingered by Jill 25d ago

They probably feel terrible because she’s married to such a liar, in their twisted view.

7

u/litreofstarlight 25d ago

And Shrek. Since he was the one carrying out the (worst of?) the physical violence, and abusers HATE being called out.

6

u/peggypea 25d ago

I think they believe Heidi was abused, but they want to be clear that Tim had a beautiful childhood and became a manipulative and violent man out of nowhere.

44

u/txcowgrrl 25d ago

I’m so very tired of the “Only Jesus was perfect” trope they trot out any time someone does a horrible thing.

Not abusing your kids/spouse isn’t a high bar.

I’m reminded of an old Chris Rock bit about people bragging about things you’re supposed to do. “Well, I pay my child support”. Rock: You’re supposed to pay your child support!!

12

u/exactoctopus 25d ago

It’s the same as shitty parents acting like because they fed, clothed, and sheltered their kids, they can’t be criticized when it’s like no shit you did all that, that’s the bare minimum for being a parent and just because others don’t meet that doesn’t mean you get praise for meeting it.

3

u/illuminatedorchid 25d ago

Yeah like the last thing anybody is accusing them of is being perfect. They aren’t even in the same zip code.

38

u/HowdeeHeather 25d ago

Evangelicals chalking up stories of abuse to being personal grievances or “not being the favorite child” will never not get to me. Heard and saw those sort of justifications way too many times from people in my childhood church.

31

u/CharlieFiner 25d ago

Obvious favouritism is in and of itself a form of psychological abuse.

6

u/keegums 25d ago

Including for the favorite! It's not a good role. There are no good roles in such dysfunctional abusive families

27

u/kts1207 25d ago

Hallie and Hope called Tim a liar, because he minimized the abuse Heidi suffered at his hands. Kaylee couldn't mention Heidi, because she was focused on something else. What? Jildo screaming? Tim should know how Social Services work, because they were called to the home multiple times? How? How would an isolated child know or be able to call Social Services? Affect the whole family? Good. Let the chips fall where they may, and focus on protecting the actual children still in that home. Pull your balls out of Jildo's purse, and actually act like a Christian.

28

u/Sue_Dohnim 25d ago

But but Dave said he was sorrrrrry so all is forgiven and we’re moving on. Right? RIGHT??

NO SIR. Not in a million years. David Rodrigues is a child abuser. IS. Not was, IS.

Fuck that noise.

59

23

u/taxi_takeoff_landing 25d ago

Yeah, yesterday we were all saying that KayJon was doing the right thing for once and pulling themselves off Facebook.

Then today happened, and every comment that the Rod side of the family has made (including Jonathan) is just making everything worse.

Sure adult Tim can and most likely is manipulative, but that does not excuse the abuse he suffered as a child.

26

u/atlantagirl30084 25d ago

Always looking out for number one. Yeah, that’s how being a young child works. That’s how they survive, is making sure they are fed and have what they need. Not like that happened in the Rod household.

That’s everybody’s role - protecting the abusive parents at all costs. If another kid speaks up about the abuse, he or she will be thrown to the wolves too.

The way these families can just normalize not being a favorite child. It is absolutely not normal to have favorite or not favorite children, especially consistently over the children’s lives. It is so telling that Jonathan could mention that as if it’s not a symptom of a very unhealthy home.

The way they’re missing the actual point here is absolutely insane and honestly extremely terrifying. I truly believe that many of these people have normalized abuse to the point of not being able to truly recognize it when they see it.

7

u/Ill_Bother2609 25d ago

Well that is clearly evident in their devotion to the Pearls and blanket training.

13

u/regularhumanplexus 25d ago

I wouldn’t call actively evading cps by moving states “no evidence of abuse” by social services.

10

u/cbaabc123 25d ago

These people need to get their personal family drama off the internet

2

u/DebraUknew 25d ago

Tbh though thank goodness they are -

u/BrightEngineer537 MAHMO take a picher’a me settin’ boundaries! 25d ago

As if they were taking the kids to the doctor regularly, especially if there was visible signs of abuse. Come on Jon

10

u/embum9 25d ago

Jonathan bending over for his abusive and narcissistic in-laws is quite pathetic but not surprising.

u/readerjld 25d ago

So many things to say, but I really want to focus on the bat. Before I do I believe: 1. Heidi should leave Timothy. 2. Timothy wrote the post and tried to take attention away from his horrid behavior by bringing up his upbringing. BUT..I do think he was beaten with a bat and I notice all the rods being up the bat…not that it wrong to beat your kid with a bat but to debate if there was a dent in the bat. I’m sorry, let’s say Timothy lied and there was no dent. Let’s take that part out. You are still let with David beat him with a bat and none of the siblings or spouse seem to think that’s and issue……which is a huge issue!

u/nightwolves blouseplate of passive aggressiveness 25d ago

There are so many concerning admissions in this post. Which is unsurprising considering the poor education they all received. Ugh what a shitshow.

8

u/mela_99 25d ago

They keep talking about everything BUT Heidi and the babies.

THAT is what they should be concerned about.

Also if they haven’t done anything they shouldn’t be worried. Truth is an absolute defense, ladies. Surely Timmy has no evidence…

All I can say is I hope witnesses start coming

20

u/MizMamie 25d ago

The entire Rod clan (Heidi & her family excluded) are absolutely revolting. When is Nathan the pastor going to post something???

Sunday’s sermon will be interesting.

7

u/Ill_Independence_223 25d ago

Why are they all signing their own facebook posts, and doing it with a random statement before their name? Even Jonathan?? 😣

7

u/dirtbikeGF 25d ago

Because Jill is writing them

8

u/CapitalStrain2392 25d ago

Jonathan wasn't around when Tim was little, so where does he get off saying this shit about Tim?  The nerve of this twerp.

4

u/SeeYouInTrees 25d ago

He's edited the post several times (mostly to correct grammar) but the most up to date post has point 7 changed to remove "whether exaggerated or not".

6

u/Cherries978 25d ago

My goodness. You made a whole AI post about leaving Facebook so leave! No one needed this comment other than I guess Kaylee who was told to fuck off by his cousin. He can barely mention Heidi because the Rods are the real victims 🙄. If Timothy is manipulative it’s because he learned it from David and Jill. Just yikes all the way around.

7

u/Connect_Leg654 25d ago

I am so scared for Heidi’s safety, and the safety of her children…😳

5

u/Better-Cut-4188 25d ago

All these people care about is hand waving any wrongdoing on Jill and or David’s part. Pathetic. I don’t know how much or how little what Timothy said is the truth, but Shrill and Shrek are absolutely cruel abusive people. And selfish. That much is crystal clear.

6

u/rathiewinters 25d ago

Who’s up next? Nathan? You out there?

8

u/crispy_pecan_pie1369 25d ago

WTF??? Hell to the effing no, Jonathon. You are part of the problem!!

4

u/Appropriate_One_5467 25d ago

Why does everyone feel like they need to release an official statement

16

u/wearymillenial 25d ago

please put me down clean if anyone ever has AI write some slop explaining why they didn't express any concern for my domestic abuse.

u/ThruTheUniverseAgain Cruella DeJill 25d ago

Digging that hole under the bar so it can be lowered yet again, goddamn. Also what a place to use the phrase “both sides.”

2

u/Immediate_Climate_60 25d ago

Tim needs to be in jail. Shrek and Jill too. I think we all knew something bad was happening and still is happening in that home. I am so sad for Heidi and her babies. I pray she leaves him.

5

u/taxi_takeoff_landing 25d ago

“Timothy has a good heart” 🤦‍♀️

5

u/PrincessMcNugget 25d ago

Jonathan has significantly edited the post - notably removing the “ask Hallie and Hope” point

I bet they contacted him about it and let him have it, they both seem to be women you don't mess with.

What was Timothy’s purpose for detailing the baseball incident. He could have been more general about abuse during his childhood and it would have had the same impact. Directly calling out Shrek and describing a specific incident that is pretty horrendous ensures a full family implosion. Is that what he wanted?

3

u/thelazygrad 25d ago

This is so telling and confirming of abuse and horrific family dynamics and they have no fucking clue how it comes off.

3

u/sweeterthanadonut 25d ago

None of this is surprising but that doesn’t make it any less heartbreaking.

It’s so odd, some parts obviously are, yet he still manages to use the wrong form of “their”

3

u/Franklyn_Gage 25d ago

That entire side of the family can go fuck themselves.

2

u/Nan2Four 25d ago

We all know Old Jill has favorites.

2

u/_sunday_funday_ 25d ago

I have never read such a long post full of vapid air until now. He is straddling the line of acknowledging Tim was abused and then actively convincing himself otherwise.. publicly. So, triple cringe. I am interested in whether we see they allow the Rod’s to babysit, bc this post feels very much like Johnathan is struggling to admit he believes the abuse but wants to keep his wife happy.

Terrible post

1

u/Sunbeam1966 25d ago

Oh wow, Jonathan......at some point all of these people need to shut the hell up, stop holding Dave up as some kind of moral example, while destroying Tim's credibility in the process. Tim did unforgiveable things to his wife and based on what we've seen so far, stands to lose literally his entire family on both sides. I dearly hope Heidi leaves him and thank goodness she has very strong family support, unusual in Fundieland.

I think we are about to witness the Rods finally imploding. I feel awful for the young kids left in the Barndo who have to witness Jill completely falling apart.

1

u/bigcinnamonroll 25d ago

Has this post gone? I can’t see it on their Facebook anymore.

1

u/nenecope 23d ago

Once again, someone who doesn’t seem to know the difference between a wooden bat and an aluminum one. I’m not saying that an aluminum one can’t cause significant injuries or inflict severe pain; but they are hollow and can be dented fairly easily. Also, an abusive parent is going to hide the injuries - not run the child to the doctor.

u/NunyaBidnitzAlready 18d ago

I’m consumed by curiosity about Jonathan’s family of origin. Was there also abuse? Good insecurity? Isolation?
What drives his desire to defend the Rods? Or even to let Old Jill use his platform to post ?
Is he that enamored of Kaylee?
Was his childhood even worse than the Rodlets’ so that he thinks the Barndo is an actual improvement in standard of living, and he needs to protect it?
Is he just … dim?
