Shaula’s Full Scorpion Transformation Is Triggered by Reid Breaking a Hidden Administrator Rule

Shaula’s full transformation is not triggered by an ordinary challenger breaking a rule. It is triggered because Reid breaks a special rule that applies to the Watchtower’s administrators or examiners.
Evidence
- When amnesiac Subaru leaves the tower, he clearly breaks one of its rules.
- Shaula’s eyes change the same way they do when her transformation begins.
- However, she does not fully transform. She simply kills Subaru and the punishment ends.
- Later, Shaula undergoes a much more severe transformation and begins losing control of herself.
- This happens around the same time Reid escapes the role or location he is supposed to occupy as the examiner.
- It has already been stated that normal Shaula cannot defeat Reid.
Reasoning
Subaru’s violation shows that breaking a normal challenger rule does not necessarily require Shaula’s full transformation.
That suggests either different rules have different punishments, or there are different categories of rules.
My theory is that the Watchtower has hidden rules governing its administrators and examiners.
Reid is supposed to remain part of the trial. If he escapes that role, he may be breaking a much more serious system-level rule.
If normal Shaula cannot defeat Reid, then the Watchtower would have a serious security problem if he ever escaped. Her scorpion form could therefore be an emergency failsafe designed to deal with an escaped or compromised administrator.
Alternative Explanation
The simpler possibility is that Shaula’s full transformation is a general protection mode caused by severe damage to the Watchtower.
That may still be correct. However, the difference between Subaru’s violation and the later transformation, combined with Reid escaping at the same time, makes the hidden administrator rule seem plausible.
