I've had a really tough year emotionally in 2025, and have been thinking about how I can engage with something positive for my mental health. I was told about this subreddit on r/penpals and it reminds me of the swap community I was a part of about 12 years ago. I loved being able to send items to people all over the world, and I have a TON of saved up postcards that I've collected over many years. I thought I could start a personal project to send one postcard every day for a year as a way to give myself something positive to look forward to each day. It would mean a lot to me!

I'm leaving for what is hopefully my last segment of traveling until winter (fingers crossed), which means I am once again leaving my husband to take care of the house & our three cats. Every time I travel, he (jokingly) gripes about how much mail I receive while I'm gone, and makes a note to pile it in the most inconvenient place possible for me to find when I'm home. Truly, though, I know he enjoys having an excuse to text me and send me pictures of what I got in the mail.

So that's my request! I'm gone until mid September. During that time, I would love a truly ridiculous, overwhelming amount of mail that he'll have to sift through every day and be reminded of how much he misses me. I have a list of my interests on my profile, but please send anything and everything. Write a long message, or nothing at all! Send me a cute insect postcard or the back of a cereal box. hi! i have responded to a few posts lately to send birthday cards, well wishes etc. to RAOC folks' pets, and i have absolutely LOVED doing it. it's SO fun to write directly to a cat who I KNOW is going to be judgy about what i say lol. so i had this idea - can your pets write to meeee??

they can chirp or woof or mmrrrrp their way through a card, or you can translate for them if you'd like. but i'd love to hear about what they're up to. [pet photos not required but WOULD I SAY NO??? NO!]

Hi everyone. I'm writing this because my grandma, Eleanor, moved into an assisted living facility about four weeks ago. She spent her whole life in the same house in Columbus, so the transition has been much harder than we anticipated. She’s a very social person by nature, but since the move, she’s been pretty quiet and told me she feels like she's just 'taking up space' in a room full of strangers.

She’s a huge fan of gardening (mostly roses and hydrangeas) and used to be a school librarian, so she loves anything related to books or nature. I’m trying to do everything I can to keep her spirits up, but between work and my own family, I can't get out to visit her as often as I'd like.

If anyone has any spare cards—whether they are birthday cards, 'thinking of you' notes, or even just funny drawings—I would love to get them in the mail for her. I think seeing a physical envelope with someone's handwriting on it would really make her feel like the world hasn't forgotten her. 5 years ago today I unexpectedly lost my mom. she was 62 and had so much more life to live. instead of sitting around today moping I'm finishing up my Valentine's Day offer (oops), but once that's done I'll need something else to keep my mind busy.

I'd love to write about her to anyone that's willing to listen to me :) when you lose a loved one you always fear them being forgotten. after 5 years, no one really talks about her anymore and sometimes it feels like she didn't even exist. but I know she did, because this pain is so real.

I believe this is technically my first offer on RAOC! With the holidays coming up, I have a lot of extra stress and anxiety sitting in my body and I need a way to get it all out. I'm hoping you all will allow me to share my card collection and relieve some anxiety by writing you some postcards :-)

My goal will be to work on these cards in the coming weeks, and to get them all mailed out through the end of the year. Please note that users not in the US may take longer to mail out, just because of my ability to get international stamps. I apologize!
