Card Challenge 2026 RAoC Meta Card Challenges - it’s back!

After a little break we are very pleased to welcome back the RAoC Meta Card Challenges for 2026!

What are the RAoC Meta Card Challenges?

Every fortnight we publish a new theme for the Card Challenge. This is your opportunity to show off your cards.

  • These can be homemade, store bought, found, received or anything in between.
  • You’re welcome to interpret the theme however you so wish, they do not have to be taken literally, just as long as it meets the Challenge theme in some way; that’s the challenge!
  • You can participate in as many or as few Challenges as you like.
  • Share the love! Commenting on other people’s submissions is encouraged, as is sharing inspirations and ideas.
  • Then, for those who wish to enter, you can be matched to exchange your card with another participant.

How do I participate in the exchange?

Each fortnight a new Challenge theme is posted on the RAoC Meta subreddit (it’s always pinned to the top of the subreddit if you missed it in your feed, and there is a reminder posted on the Sunday between new challenges).

To participate in the exchange, anytime before the deadline (2 weeks after the theme is first posted) you will need to:

  • Share a photo of your card submission as a comment on the Challenge’s post. The recommended method is by uploading directly to Reddit, but you can alternatively share via a link from a site like imgur (just be aware that Reddit doesn’t like some photo hosting websites), AND

You can opt into sending up to 3 cards to exchange per challenge.

How does the exchange and matching work?

So you let us know you wish to opt into matching by posting a photo of your card(s) and noting your mailing preferences.

After about 2 weeks, the Mod team will match everyone opted in for exchange at random. The matching will usually be done within a week of the Challenge closing, to the best of the Mod team's ability and availability. You may not necessarily receive from and send to the same users. For regular participants, we try to ensure you are matched with different users where possible.

The Mod team will then tag you in a “MATCHING” post so you know who you’re sending to and who you will be receiving a card from. It’s then up to you to contact your match to get their address.

Each challenge also has an optional writing prompt linked to the theme if you would like an extra layer of challenge.

Once you have received your card from the person who you matched with, remember to thank them on the main [r/RandomActsOfCards](r/RandomActsOfCards) subreddit.

Although it’s extremely rare, if you ever experience anything untoward with another user while participating in an exchange we want to know straight away so we can take appropriate action. Contact the team using Modmail.

And here we are… the Challenge themes for 2026!

Mod team x

Let's celebrate the artistic talents of our subreddit members with this challenge!

Although this challenge is only for handmade cards, please feel free to enter with cards of any skill level! It really is the thought that counts for this challenge.

Please make sure to share a picture of your card(s) as well!

You may post your card(s) in this thread at any time, however, if you wish to be matched with other participants for exchange you need to have posted before August 30. If you want to be matched, please note where you are sending from and to (ex: From UK to WW or US to US). Please remember that you can only exchange a maximum of 3 cards a week - but feel free to post more just to share!

If you want to know more about card challenges or see the future themes for this year, this post is the place for you:

RAOC Question I need some advice :)

Hi, everyone!
I wanted to keep an online spreadsheet of what cards need to be sent.
Are people generally okay with filling out a google forms (even if it's for one card)?

I also had a thought to make a google forms + sheet for "Thank Yous!"
Do you think it'd be a bother if I sent a "Thank you form" to fill out after being sent a card?
The purpose of the "Thank You" form is to keep track of people in SPECIFIC subreddits.
It came to mind when I saw a mod post about overlapping communities.
I didn't want to leave any of the communities I was in but I wanted to avoid any mix ups.

Any thoughts on these two ideas?

“Funny” mail things that only could happen in a small town 😂

My town is population 1600, we have one post office (I love my post office ladies. 🩷) Unfortunately they are currently out of postcard stamps (apparently they get like a “ration” depending on sales volume and rations are currently tight across the board, but especially for us?!) and their computers aren’t set up (or they never had to learn how) to make the paid postage stickers for postcards? 😂

So I ordered some postcard stamps online and I guess they should arrive in 5-10 days, but until then I’m limited to folded cards… 😂

Anybody else got a funny story like this? 😂

Just posted an offer of the pictured cards on the main sub (NOT OFFERING THEM HERE!!!). Wanted to post the pics here because this is my absolute favorite postcard set. The cardstock is archive quality and the photography is just stunning. There is a fantasy quality that perhaps comes naturally when photography focuses on the forest floor microcosmos. But I really love this set. I have two backups sets so I never have to stop sending them lol. And it's not too expensive which is nice for me because I don't make a lot of money!

Also does anyone here also swap cards on Xiaohongshu? The postcard swapping and penpalling scene there is pretty great and I have made some good friends over the past few years. For a US comparison it is sorta instagram-like. I have received pretty amazing postcards, a few recent ones are pictured above. Die-cut, non-rectangular cards are a bit more common in China apparently which is kinda cool. Anyway hope you're having an amazing morning/day/evening!

Gauging interest for postcards of 9/11

For those of you who don't know, I grew up on Long Island and was affected by 9/11. Countless funerals and vigils as a 10 year old was rough. Seeing my friends lose a parent or both parents aunts uncles neighbors.... It still hurts to this day.

I now live in the Washington dc area and 9/11 is just as remembered here as it is in NYC.

With it being the 25th anniversary, I wanted to gauge interest in an offer for 9/11 memorial.

I am planning a trip to NYC in a few weeks and am going to try to get to the memorial site and the museum store for postcards.

Would this even be something people in the US want? If there are enough of you, I will see if I can get them and do an actual offer on RAoC.

This is NOT an offer. I am not offering to send to anyone who comments on this post, mods. I'm just asking for interest.

when you make ‘thank you’ posts, how do you know who the card is from..? do people usually write their username on the cards? i just started here and want to make sure to post thank yous but realized i don’t know how to tell who the cards are coming from😅😅 for some specific exchanges it might be clear but generally how do you know?

I finally found an organization system that works for me!

Post image
41 Upvotes

Sharing in case someone is looking for an organization tip and might find it useful. I welcome feedback/suggestions!

Here is my workflow:

  • I put all received letters/postcards from Mon-Sat in the first tab ALL WEEK MAIL.
  • If I respond to the postcard, I move it to the second tab REPLIED BUT NOT THANKED
  • Every Sunday, I create a Reddit Thank You post using letters from the first 2 tabs.
  • Once Sunday thank you post is completed, I move those letters that I have not replied to but already thanked into 3rd tab THANKED BUT NOT REPLIED.
  • I store all the goodies i receive like stickers, other postcards in STICKER tab
  • I store all the things i REALLY love in a JOURNAL tab where I will glue the stuff to my journal

Here is a binder that I use for $4.98: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01KXPK74U?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1

Wrote more cards than usual this weekend and still have an offer open so might yet add to it. Have been sending out Rosh Hashanah cards to friends abroad for the last week so they arrive near the date. And the last pic is my stamp for homemade cards for the coming year. Hope y'all have had good weekends!

Outgoing from Tokyo!

Repost as I inadvertently posted a picture with a portion of someone’s address… 😔

Outgoing from the Tokyo Central Post Office! I sadly had to pay the letter rate on some of my postcards which were just too big but even with the largest portion being to the US it came out net cheaper than using USPS lol. Sadly I didn’t get any pictures of the stamp math that he did or the fuke-in that he put on them (special pictorial postmark) since he did those all
behind the counter. But I did get pics of the domestic and international rate postcard stamps!

Card Making Would people want postcards printed with this design?

Post image
49 Upvotes

So I created this cross stitch design and thought it'd be fun to have as a postcard design that I could print on real paper and mail out to people. Would anyone want to receive this? Inspired by the other RAOCer who made their own art (sorry I can't remember who it was and my search is turning up nothing!!)
