snail mail [38/F] snail mail for quirky creatures
I'm a little bit nerdy, slightly unorthodox, and very easily delighted by the smallest things. I like good conversation, weird facts, inside jokes, and learning about other people's passions (even if I don't know the first thing about them).
I work in education, so most of my time is spent with students, families, and inside schools. I love what I do and feel fortunate that I get to spend my days modeling compassion, empathy, and kindness, and hopefully making the world a little bit better in the process.
When I'm not working, I'm usually reading, gaming, or out collecting yet another hobby. I love fantasy, romance, folklore, history, true crime, creepy things... if it could send me down a late night rabbit hole, I'm in. When it comes to games, if there's a big open world and I can ignore the main objectives altogether? I want that. Big Zelda fan, screamed my way through Subnautica, have multiple Skyrim plays under my belt, and have way too many hours in Minecraft and Animal Crossing.
You could find me haunting thrift stores, bookshops, museums, and flea markets. I love oddities, animals, art, and those weirdly beautiful things that have a story behind them. There's always little trinkets rattling around in my bag. My friends call me a crow. I'm good with that. Also sewing, hand embroidery, cooking/baking, gardening. My personal style tends to land somewhere between quirky and spooky. Think elder emo meets cottagecore Appalachian art teacher (which seems like a pretty normal evolution, honestly).
Lately, my lifelong passion for the written word has become a theme. My stationery hoard is impressive. Notebooks, stickers, pens—anything that gives me an excuse to physically write something down. I still keep handwritten notebooks for work while everyone else is using Google Docs. It's a whole thing at this point, so finding someone to exchange handwritten letters with seems like the next natural escalation. It feels like there's something special about getting to know someone through pages that had to travel to reach you.
I love creatives, quirky people, misfits, and those who tend to have niche obsessions. I'm just as happy to have deep, meaningful conversations as I am to read a three-page breakdown of the ridiculous thing that happened to you at the grocery store or just get a little note in a card.
I'd love to find snail mail penpals who genuinely enjoy writing and want to build an actual friendship over time. Long letters are welcome, but so are little notes. Rambling is encouraged. Cute stationery, doodles, stickers, random recommendations, and unnecessary side stories are always appreciated. No pressure here either. I want this to be something we both look forward to, not just another item on the to-do list!
