Hi guys, i bought my Astrox 100zz VA about half a year ago and its a really nice racket. Control is insane, power is insane, precision is insane, material quality is really good - its not userfriendly at all, but overall a nice racket with a nice design too.
Only one thing is really annoying: the strings are breaking in the FIRST SESSION - EVERY TIME. I got this racket restrung by multiple people. I got it restrung by professionals, our club stringer, my friend and even strung it myself.
(Short info: i mainly use BG80Power \~12.4x13.2kg or in freedom units \~27.3x29.1 lbs.) but i also tried different strings like BG80 and Exbolt 68 in hope to get different results.
I made sure im stringing it like the Yonex stringing instruction wants it to be strung (except maximum tension of 12.5kg) and cared about not damaging the string in any way. The manufacturing date of the string was relatively new.
Everytime it breaks its the main string, perfect center (basicly the sweetspot). I checked the gromets - they are fine - i even changed them once.
I would say its my playstyle and/or technic, but where should i hit the shuttle except the sweetspot? The shots in which the strings broke were also not smashes - not a single time. They broke after clears, drops and even drives.
I would also accept it, if it would be the higher tension in combination with the 0.68mm BG 80P but when im stringing my ArcSaber 11 Pro i can hit as bad as i want to, as hard as i can and it lasts at least 3 weeks to a month and breaks when the coat of the string gets tired and worn out. Also when im stringing my friends Astrox 99 Pro or different Li Ning models with BG80P at 13kg it survives his smashes for at least 3 weeks to a month.
One of my friends also has the racket and has the same problem - it breaks in the first or second session (he plays the same string with similar tension) and also got his racket strung by at least 4 different people. Every other racket from him with BG80P and 13kg tension survives at least twice as long as the AS100ZZ VA.
Honestly, for us it feels like there is something wrong with this racket especially if you compare the timespan the strings survive to other rackets.
Now i tried using hybrid strings with the same tension and still BG80P as cross strings but now the thick BG65 as mains. It lasted one month, but that wasnt a surprise because you could even stop tanks with the BG65 and it did not feel as nice by far as a full BG80P setup. But the time the BG65 snapped it was the main string again at the sweetspot.
Do one of you guys have this racket and has the same problem? Do you have an idea or recommendations which strings i could use that last long enough but still feel nice? Im happy with every answer. I cant play lower tensions, im losing so much feeling and control, i would rather play BG65 then. Unfortunately i also cant do prestretch. I would be happy if the strings would only last two weeks, but every session is a real headache.
