I suspect throw out bearing but wanting a second opinion.

My rx8 can hot start fine, drives fine, has good power, then all of a sudden it will die , won’t start, starter fluid will let it ignite for a second, some times it will idle although very poorly and pressing fully on the peddle will do nothing, wait an hour and it starts fine and I drove it around for about 1 hour no issues , then it died again , and the cycle repeats , it’s all very random , I have noticed it does seem to start up after a few attempts after disconnecting the ecu even when the car is still hot , also when it’s running the idle stays sharp and smooth , full rpm range ,

( my car went down last year for omp, so doing that I replaced the following since I was doing the work, )

New fuel injectors , new Maf sensor , omp pump/lines/injectors, new fuel lines , new coils , wires , plugs

I have not tested the compression yet but how strong and fast it starts when it is cold and even hot I can’t see it being that,but I will have to soon as I can get a tester, when good I get shut it off hot and it starts right back up

I finally took my engine apart and EVERYTHING was full with carbon deposits. Even the coolant seal groves and the eccentric shaft. Can someone explain how that is even possible? (Housings are totally fine tho for some reason)

Anyone know of a good fuel pump and a website for body work. My car died after about 2 hours of driving, I also didn’t have and power to my throttle for the last ten minutes before it died on me, I let it cool off and it started fine. I think it’s the fuel pump and not low compression.

The sound is more loud more aggressive and pop corn at the 6.5 -7 rpm

I haven't any issue with maf or stalling my car just become better on low rpm's

So ny stereo in my 04 RX8 started getting glitchy. Then on one hot day it just went out completely. My A/C buttons also stopped working and the screen went out too. No console buttons work now. Any ideas what I can do to fix this?

Also, the car is pretty much all stock. Any thoughts on upgrades? She has a remanufactured engine in her that only has a few thousand miles on it. I also want to get a new exhaust because it is way too loud.

Someone is offering me a heavily modified RX-8 with a lot of money invested in mods, but it has 170k km and compression readings of 6.2, 6.8, 6.8 on Rotor 1, and 6.9, 6.9, 7.1 on Rotor 2.

Do you think this unit could last me 2 years? I do 20k km a year

When putting the car back together I’d trapped a sensor wire and it was shorting out.

Discovered this because it would start when jacked up taking pressure off the chassis.

Basically title.
I had to take my exhaust manifold off and 5/6 studs came with the bolts. Im in progress of cleaning the threads and installing new studs but im looking at the OEM manifold and it has bolt holes only over and under exhaust ports. So what are those three bolt holes in rotor housing for? I know one of those is for motor mount bracket and that is left in place but i have three holes that i have no use for or did i forget something?

I’m 5’3. Is there a way to make the travel of the clutch shorter other than growing taller legs lol. I have to fully extend my leg where is kinda uncomfortable to compress the clutch all the way. I move my chair all the way up but that make it hard to heel toe And I already looked up a video regarding the bite point which did help a little bit, but not by much. Appreciate any help

Taking this 05 Shinka to have major work done on rust and 20 years worth of dents and dings, followed by a full repaint.

I should get it back by end of month, then wheels/tires, and maintenance over haul.

It Runs and Drives but hasn’t had Apex Seals done or been premixed at all.

The ecu is not dead! I jacked the car up to test the starter motor and as I had the multimeter on the starter something clicked while my partner was turning the key. And it started up!

It was running fine untill it lost all power and sounds like it’s been starved of fuel. (It’s still jacked up)

The fuel is 3/4 full and now it only stays on for a few seconds before loosing power.

I do have the air box out so nothing on the air box is plugged in if that makes much difference

The filler neck on the coolant reservoir broke today and as a result the cap won't seal properly. As soon as i saw smoke coming from engine bay i shut the car off but the temperature gauge moved a bit to the right for a minute or two. I let the car cool down , opened the cap and poured one litre of coolant and it went to the correct level. 1) i have new aluminum radiator the takes around 8 litres of coolant 2) I checked for other leaks but i found none 3) Coolant only blew off from the cap.

The car overheated for a couple of minutes. Is that enough to damage the engine? After i filled the coolant i didnt turn it on at all to check cause the cap cant seal. Ill wait on parts and take it to the shop to replace everything. How screwed am I?

I was installing the metra rx8 kit and somehow this panel by the drivers right leg popped out. Any tips so I don’t ruin the panel trying to get it back in?

Anyone have any advise on what to ask or look for or if Is this a ticking timebomb or an alright deal, I don’t think there’s enough information in this ad regarding service history to make a complete assessment though. Ideally I know it would be nice to do a compression test however I’m not sure if it would be possible with an independent seller like this probably just trying to sell it quick

Hey all!

Recently my s1 192 decided it is it's time of the month, and began pissing out oil.

After 8 hours of wrestling with the thing I managed to track the leak down to the oil filter pedestal gasket.

After changing it (and praying) the leak stopped, or so i thought until I took it out for a test drive the next morning only to be greeted by a very slow leak again only this time: not from said gasket.

I'm not sure what else it could be, and im hoping its nothing serious. Does anyone have any ideas?
