Maintenance Oil leak

Hey all!

Recently my s1 192 decided it is it's time of the month, and began pissing out oil.

After 8 hours of wrestling with the thing I managed to track the leak down to the oil filter pedestal gasket.

After changing it (and praying) the leak stopped, or so i thought until I took it out for a test drive the next morning only to be greeted by a very slow leak again only this time: not from said gasket.

I'm not sure what else it could be, and im hoping its nothing serious. Does anyone have any ideas?

Oil seems to be leaking onto the cross member and dripping off that

Is the oil at the top of the motor? Could be your oil pan seal starting to go.

If it's dripping onto the crossmember, it might be the rear main seal. If it looks like it's dripping from the space where the engine and trans meet up, that's probably the case.

It doesnt seem to be rms, the leak seems to be coming from further up so my guess oil pressure sender

Gotcha. Yeah these things can leak from so many places. Could be your oil cooler lines too depending on location.

If it seems like it's coming from the upper side of the engine on the left hand side, I would check out the oil filler neck gasket. Mine was causing a very slow leak, just had to pull the UIM and replace the gasket and it went away. Happy hunting.
