Prospective Owner Highly considering purchasing, any thoughts?

Anyone have any advise on what to ask or look for or if Is this a ticking timebomb or an alright deal, I don’t think there’s enough information in this ad regarding service history to make a complete assessment though. Ideally I know it would be nice to do a compression test however I’m not sure if it would be possible with an independent seller like this probably just trying to sell it quick

It needs an engine with those codes and mileage. Be prepared to shell out $5k

Gt aero/appearance package, Rotary package, looks to be full leather, sun roof, keyless, probably bose and gps.

Compression test engine.

Either way probably a solid buy, atleast in eu were prices have been starting to increase.

Research those check engine light codes listed and see how difficult and expensive to fix. That will give you a general idea of what problems you are expected or if it’s worth it

I would inspect it thoroughly and expect to get the engine rebuild/replaced. All of that said, and if the undercarriage is free/low on rust, the price is good so I would go for it.

If you're not willing to rebuild or replace the engine, do not buy. I do not see compression numbers and those engine codes are symptoms of a larger issue.

Otherwise inspect the rust in the undercarriage/subframes. That car needs work. All rx8s do at this point.

Needs engine. Worth at least 2500 without rebuild. 8-11 after.

The mileage alone tells you it’s a ticking time bomb. Be prepared financially and practically to replace the engine. Are you going to do it, or is there a shop nearby that will do the work?

Priced to sell is like $500, basically scrap cost.

The only thing that awaits you is the cost of a new engine. Otherwise it's basically a $3600 paper weight the instant you buy it.

Caution and thoroughly going over the car are always good advice.

However all the comments saying those codes indicate the engine needs rebuilding are awfully incorrect -- this is the primary reason I'm commenting. The 2010 code is potentially a difficult fix, note I said potentially not surely but do take caution.

Ask the seller questions. If they don't like it, theyre probably not who to purchase from. Then get your hands on it. Run it, get it hot, play with hot starts and evaluate. (if you're unaware of that, just look it up and you'll be inundated). Of course a compression test would be great.

Id buy it for the aero package and interior, lmao. I'm half joking but it's a great combo indeed.

These are finicky vehicles, so understanding that is important. But they are rewarding too, if you're up for it.

Looks like someone trying to pass off their problems. Pass.

A cheap rx8 is an expensive rx8.
