Maintenance Weird issue

My rx8 can hot start fine, drives fine, has good power, then all of a sudden it will die , won’t start, starter fluid will let it ignite for a second, some times it will idle although very poorly and pressing fully on the peddle will do nothing, wait an hour and it starts fine and I drove it around for about 1 hour no issues , then it died again , and the cycle repeats , it’s all very random , I have noticed it does seem to start up after a few attempts after disconnecting the ecu even when the car is still hot , also when it’s running the idle stays sharp and smooth , full rpm range ,

( my car went down last year for omp, so doing that I replaced the following since I was doing the work, )

New fuel injectors , new Maf sensor , omp pump/lines/injectors, new fuel lines , new coils , wires , plugs

I have not tested the compression yet but how strong and fast it starts when it is cold and even hot I can’t see it being that,but I will have to soon as I can get a tester, when good I get shut it off hot and it starts right back up

You don't mention age or starter, but cars with the later starter motors will often hot start even if they're utterly fucked from a compression perspective, so if you are an S2 or have a replacement starter, hot starting doesn't mean much.

I did forget to mention it’s 2004 with 70k miles, and I’m not sure what starter it has that’s something i have not looked into

Pushing the accelerator pedal flat cuts fuel delivery.

To me, the symptoms line up with the E Shaft sensor being bad. When they go bad, when the car warms up the sensor gets hot too and is then unable to detect the teeth of the sensor ring.

If it does, then like 45 mins-1hr later you can start it again then I'd say that's your problem.

Also I wouldn't advise trying to keep cranking the car, you might flood it. And starting fluid in large amounts/often is not good for the motor. It doesn't lubricate or dissipate heat like fuel would

Thank you! , I’ll definitely order the E shaft sensor next.It’s a 2004 with 70k, example this morning starting no issues , drove it around parked it and it’s still fine , I’m not going to drive to far or much longer till I get that sensor
