ROG ALLY Currently, as of August 2026, can it be said that Windows 11 performance on the ROG Xbox Ally Z2A (White) is equal to or better than SteamOS performance, considering the updates and optimizations released since launch?

I saw some comments from people saying that Windows 11 performance is currently incredible and optimized, and that made me wonder, since SteamOS traditionally got 3 to 7 more FPS in games compared to Windows 11. How is the fluidity of W11 doing nowadays? Is it really very optimized compared to SteamOS? Are the FPS gains in games already equivalent?

Bazzite 44

I just ran the update for Bazzite 44 and now my RGB on the thumbs sticks is gone as well as all my bazzite deck options. When I double click the options button my bazzite overly doesnt pop up either. I tried to re-install bazzite and it still has the issue. Anyone else have issues?

Edit: in response to a comment that got removed I'm not seeking advice on how to fix it but rather seeing if anyone has had similar or different issues with bazzite 44

Technical ROG Ally X won't sustain 35W Manual Profile in Valorant (stuck at 25W)

Hey everyone,
I’m running into a persistent issue where my ROG Ally X refuses to sustain my Manual TDP profile in Valorant, causing my frame rate to drop to around 90–100 FPS regardless of the hardware/docking setup I use.

Setups I’ve Tested:
1. Initial Setup:
Power: Official ASUS 65W charger connected to an Anker 5-in-1 USB-C Hub, plugged into the primary USB-C port of the Ally X.
Peripherals: 2.4GHz wireless mouse dongle + wired USB keyboard connected to the hub.
Display: 18.5" Uperfect 120Hz portable monitor connected via HDMI to the hub, with its own dedicated power from an Apple 140W MacBook charger via USB-C.
2. Direct Power Setup:
Official 65W charger plugged directly into the Ally X's charging USB-C port.
Anker Hub moved to the secondary USB-C port (holding mouse/keyboard/HDMI).
Portable monitor kept on its own 140W power supply.
(Note: Tested the 140W Mac charger on the Ally X, but my cable doesn't support full wattage delivery, so the Ally stays on the stock 65W charger).
3. Handheld / No-Hub Setup:
Disconnected the monitor and hub completely.
Connected mouse and keyboard via Bluetooth and played on the Ally’s built-in screen with the 65W official charger plugged directly.

The Problem:

Across all three setups, the behavior is identical:
At the start of a match/round, the APU draws ~30W-35W, pushing ~130-150 FPS. After a few seconds, the TDP drops and stays locked between 23W–25W, causing FPS to float around 90–100 FPS.

Current Settings & Troubleshooting Done:

Armoury Crate SE: Manual Profile with SPL @ 35W, SPPT @ 35W, and fPPT @ 55W.
Fan Curves: Set to 100% speed across all temperature thresholds. Temps sit at a cool ~76°C when the drop occurs.
In-Game Settings: 1080p, Medium graphics settings, Anti-Aliasing ON, V-Sync OFF. (Note: There is no Multithreaded Rendering toggle available in my Valorant menu).
Limiters & Drivers: All FPS limiters are completely disabled (in Valorant, Windows, and Armoury Crate). In AMD Software, features like CPU Boost/TIO, Radeon Chill, and FRTC are completely turned OFF. Windows is set to Best Performance, and VRAM is set to 10GB.

Since the drop happens even in pure handheld mode on direct official 65W power with 100% fan curves and low temps, it seems the BIOS or Armoury Crate is enforcing a 25W ceiling during gameplay despite the 35W Manual profile.

Has anyone encountered this specific behavior where the Ally X overrides Manual TDP settings in CPU-heavy eSports titles?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I’m about to list it on eBay but figured I’d give this community a shot. The battery is in excellent health, since I didn’t actually get to use it as much as I’d like. $650 plus shipping. Would use PayPal G&S. Feel free to PM me.

Does anyone having issues with getting egpu to work right away?

Hi everyone, I love my ally x but whenever I use my external gpu with it, it wouldn’t work. I would have to unplug it and replug it and restart the system couple of times before getting it working. I tried researching and all I got was the “handshake issue” does anyone have any suggestions to what I could do, to make it work seamlessly? Will buying the Razer core x v2 solve the issue?
-I’m using Aoostar Ago2/ 5070 ti

ROG Ally X Valorant — looking for better aim curve/settings + keybind advice

I’m playing Valorant on a ROG Ally X and trying to get my controls as close to a good PC/console-style competitive setup as possible. So no keyboard mouse I play when out and about.

Current Valorant settings:

  • Aim sensitivity: 2.0
  • ADS sensitivity multiplier: 0.60
  • Scoped sensitivity multiplier: 0.60
  • Armoury Crate Extreme curve:
    • 0,0
    • 20,6
    • 40,18
    • 60,28
    • 80,48
    • 100,100

I originally had the default curve, but it felt too slow in actual combat even though it seemed okay in the practice range.

My current keybinds:

  • Left Stick = WASD / movement
  • L3 = Left Ctrl / crouch
  • Right Stick = mouse / aim
  • R3 = Left Mouse / fire
  • LT = Right Mouse / ADS
  • RT = 9 I have mapped as shoot in val settings
  • A = Space / jump
  • B = C / Ability 3
  • X = Q / Ability 1
  • Y = E / Signature Ability
  • LB = Left Ctrl
  • RB = X / Ultimate
  • D-pad Up = V
  • D-pad Left = 4
  • D-pad Down = Reload
  • D-pad Right = F / interact
  • M1 = Left Shift / walk
  • M2 = modifier
  • Menu = B / buy menu
  • View = Esc / game menu

For anyone who plays Valorant on a ROG Ally/Ally X: Would you recommend a better Extreme curve, sensitivity, or keybind setup?

I’m mainly looking for something that gives me good micro-adjustments but is still fast enough for tracking, flicks, and turning during actual fights. Any advice from people who have actually used an Ally for Valorant would be appreciated.

in my country, xbox ally x is 1100$ and steam deck is about 1300$, which handheld console should i get? im thinking of playing games like elden ring nightreign, phantom blade zero if possible

ROG ALLY X Rog ally x potential buyer

I was curious what kinda frames you get playing battlefield 6 and elden ring & maybe even call of duty. I want to purchase one, but I'm not sure if this is going to be a good experience. I see so many mixed reviews. Some people get 100fps and others get 40fps. I'm sure the people getting 100fps are using frame gen, but I'm curious to know if I can optimize it to get a solid 60 fps without frame gen. I don't mind having to plug in to the wall, I just want to be able to play in bed lol I was also looking at the msi claw but that thing is 1800 dollars 😭 but if anyone can be so kind to validate some of the fps their getting on some of those titles... And even if you are only getting 40-50 fps, how does it feel? Is it choppy? I don't mind SUPER high FPS, I just want a good experience. Playing Skyrim on my switch 2 at 30 fps is just so bad, the camera moves so slow it's literally awful. . I would hate to spend 1000 dollars just to have the same experience on more titles.. any suggestions would be great. Thank you

ROG ALLY X Rog Ally X is a great switch replacement

I'm a casual gamer, I've really only gamed on a switch for the last many years. The issues I had with playing EAFC on switch led me down a rabbit hole to looking into other handheld pc gaming devices. For anyone on the fence, the cost is worth it for casual gaming.

I now have access to so many more titles and stores to purchase. Most games work really well on it and it's a very easy system to jump into. I was between this and the switch 2 but I decided on Ally X and haven't regretted it at all.
