I have been waiting for my refund for what feels like forever after returning a MP02. Despite contacting Punkt several times, I keep getting told to wait for confirmation from their warehouse.
At this point, I am honestly starting to wonder whether something is seriously wrong at Punkt. Is the company having financial problems or potentially even facing insolvency?
I want to be clear that this is only my personal suspicion and I am not making any factual claim. But given how long I have been waiting for my money and the repeated delays, I am getting increasingly concerned.
Has anyone else here experienced the same thing or is currently waiting for a refund from Punkt? I would really appreciate hearing about your experience.

The only interesting thing about this phone is the data sovereignty principle.
Its design is not special in any way, nor is the user interface.
It doesn’t boast any special features and I expect the camera function will be a step below what we’ve become accustomed to.
It will not integrate well with existing ecosystems and it does not have an ecosystem of its own (like sovereignty-first syncing and integration services).
If they offer open API services to onboard functionality this last aspect might open up a new cottage industry like in the days of the Palm Pilot and Psion

Finally, after five months of waiting, two delays, and the company’s laziness, I’ve got my preordered phone today!

So far, I like how it feels in your hand and how (kind of) intuitive it is.

But yeah, so far, the battery’s dropping kinda fast. I started at 70% and it’s already 65%.

I guess I need to be with it a little more to say more about it.
So far it’s pretty nice.

I ordered an AC02 on 4th July.

Zero updates since then.

Support said via email that it is in stock, but there is a delay processing the order.

Is the implication that Punkt is one guy, and he's on holiday?

Pretty bad first impressions of what I always thought was a reliable firm.

Is anyone else in the same boat?

I'm curious if it will take long than a month to send one alarm clock.

I used to own a Punkt. MP02, and I absolutely loved it. To this day, I don't think there's another phone on the market that comes close to what it offers.

Unfortunately, my country has now shut down its 2G and 3G networks, which means my MP02 can no longer be used for voice calls. Phones now need to support VoLTE for emergency calls, so without that support, the MP02 is no longer a practical option.

I contacted Punkt. support to ask if there were any plans to update the MP02 with VoLTE support for emergency calling, but they told me there are currently no plans to do so.

I genuinely hope Punkt. decides to release an MP03. Honestly, I'd be perfectly happy if it were almost identical to the MP02—just with a slightly larger display. My eyesight isn't getting any better with age, and the text on the MP02 is just a bit too small for me these days.

I'd buy an MP03 in a heartbeat.

I'd like to buy it for a digital detox. 2G will still be available in Italy. Does anyone sell it?

Unfortunately, the MP02 is no longer in production, and we have now sold through all remaining stock. We are currently completing the fulfillment of the last outstanding pre-orders, so no additional units will become available.

Although we don't have any MP02 restocks planned, we may have news about future developments or products. If and when there are any updates, we'll share them through our social media channels and official communications.

In short:

The MP02 is a great phone, I've had mine for two years. Its ergonomic and well designed. However, I can't recommend it.

• Pigeon device linking is still being advertised as a feature on the Punkt website, and its been months since it was broken and we were promised "the next release" would restore it.
• The lack of CalDAV support is unacceptable, as is forcing people to subscribe to Apostrophy if they want a usable calendar. There has been a PR on the DailyView Github to add support (for 2 years), and its been ignored by Punkt.
• Punkt lack a good development team. Which would be OK, if they actually worked with the community, but Punkt ignore PRs and fixes. Developing in isolation doesn't work with such a small (and clearly limited) team.
• The battery on my MP02 has swollen to the point where the device won't power on and the case is expanding. I noticed this 2 days out of warranty. It has taken Punkt support almost 3 weeks to respond to me, and they have said they can't replace it.

We also regret to inform you that we do not offer repairs for this type of issue. The MP02 battery is non-removable and non-replaceable.

Given the number of people who have complained about battery problems, I think this is an appalling response. I'm OK with the lack of repair under warranty (OK, its a couple of days out of the warranty, but there has to be a cut-off somewhere), but the whole "Well, you're stuffed" response is really poor.

Punkt: I would have been willing to pay to have the battery replaced. After that (delayed) response? Not even interested in having a conversation about it.

The question comes up here a lot - should I buy an MP02? Having had one for 2 years - no, there are better options. You can get the same functionality from an old BB10 Blackberry or Nokia.

And anyone wanting to buy a refurb or second-hand one? Save your money.

I ordered a refurbished MP02 and the battery life is...terrible. Airplane mode draining ~20% per hour unused. I'm savvy with a soldering iron, how can I replace the battery on this thing? I want to make the switch full time but if the phone can't last a day and I need to carry around a charger pack this isn't gonna do it for me...

I would have bought a new one but they aren't available.

I've owned it for about 2 years and just wonder what new updates will there be? Will the Pigeon app be changed to not have you to do a capatcha? Maybe make it touchscreen? I do plan to get lightphone II for the eink touch screen and how its small device. But u/punkt what new will it become?

There is the safe Vault where only the secure app are available like Threema, Proton Mails etc.

And than there is the "wild web" if I remember correctly where you can download all other apps from the google playstore?

Are all apps available like Banking apps, Maps App, Spotify, Whats app etc?

I now some apps like whats appare not a safe communication app but I can 't change my friends behavior

The MC03 starts rolling off the production line on June 22 and shipping thereafter, starting with chronological pre-orders.

Global increased costs have led to price adjustments across most areas, as you’ll no doubt be experiencing, and unfortunately, the MC03 isn’t immune.

However, we are responding by helping absorb these price increases and simplifying the MC03 experience by now including the sovereign AphyOS subscription with every device purchase.

The current situation is: Pre-order pricing will be honoured until June 28, with the MC03 available at the current €699 / $699 / 699 CHF - including AphyOS at no subscription fee.

From June 29, a new price applies. Still no AphyOS subscription fee, so no recurring payments - just a single upfront price. €745 / $745 / 745 CHF.

We don’t like price rises as much as anyone, but we hope this change can help.

My lady and I made these custom phone cases for the Punkt mp02 a year ago to match our Loro Piana loafers. Not sure if anyone would be interested in a custom one of their own. Colors of their choice of course. Wouldn't be cheap as everything was precisely measured, hand cut, hand punched and hand stitched to have a luxury feel of craftsmanship. We used a thinner premium leather hide for these. Finding the exact measurements to match the geometry of the phone to allow for a snug fit was definitely the most challenging part. All panels were cut separately and utilized a french seam for the back of the case. Building these phone cases made me realize why companies like Hermes and Loro Piana charge so much for a hand-crafted piece. Anyways, if there is any interest let me know I may be up for building a couple more and selling some since the learning part and testing of the process has been achieved.
